Ok, so as most of you know, ive ordered a cheap e-cig from dealextreme.
My main issue regarding the smell is solved, there is very little or no smell at all.

Now on to a few more questions.

1) When my refills run out, can i put some ready brought drops to put on the filter inside the refill/mouth piece thingy ?

2) Can i make these my self ? They dont have to contain nicotine. I would like them to though.

3) Why do some people put the drops INTO the atomiser and not the cotton filter thingy ?

Hi Gee,

I am trying to get a look at the cartridges for the model you have purchased to get a better idea of what they are like but dealextreme won't open for me at this time. If the carts are like any others then yes you can refill them. I don't see why not.

You can make your own liquids by purchasing either propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin. Add drops of flavoring for a no nic liquid. For a nicotine liquid you can purchase a non-flavored liquid at most any strength and mix as you choose. You do not want to handle pure nicotine yourself as it's poisonous. You may want to check out the DIY section of the forums for recipes and places to get your supplies: DIY e-liquid - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

There are many reasons why dripping is popular. I find I get a great throat hit and flavor doing it this way. It's also an easy way to gauge how much you are vaping. Several drops onto your atomizer = one smoking session. However not all models are dripping friendly. It is possible that liquid can seep into your battery if it's not fully enclosed. Mine is not so I tend not to drip until I get a different device. Not to contradict myself but at times you will want to clean your atomizer or drain it. Then you will want to drop one or two drops onto the atomizer to prime it before use. Atomizers like moisture... but not too much!

It's a learning curve with vaping in general and with each model. Please note however that these are my experiences combined with what I've learned. Your experience may vary but you will get the hang of it!

Hmm, youre right DX seems to be down :s
I know that there are refills availible, but these are $4 for a 10 pack, that seems to cheap to be true ... well its true, but the quality must be quite bad.

Say that the cartridges are standard ones, what is in them ? just a cotton wad with the nicotine on them ? How would i go about changing this ? Replace with a new cotton ball soaked in the VP + Flavour ?

Sorry for all the questions, i just want to know whats what before i recieve my product :D

Not a problem with the questions! We're all here to learn from each other.

The filling (poly batting) inside the cartridges can be re-used. Just rinse the filling under tap water until they are white again (after removing it from the plastic mouth piece). Gently dry with paper towel and let sit till fully dry. You will likely need a pair of tweezers to re-fold the filling and stuff it back into the plastic mouth piece. You can re-use that filler multiple times until it just doesn't seem to want to work as well as it did. It's also a good idea to use the tweezers when removing used filling to avoid contact with your skin.

People are experimenting with other fillers so that they can use the same plastic mouth pieces again and again. There are lots of opinions of the best cartridge filler. If you do a search for tea bags, coffee filters, fluval, fish filter on here you will find lots of discussion on this.

You mentioned refills for $4/10. That's not bad imo. If they are for your model then you could purchase those knowing they'll fit, and you can get many uses out of each or more if you find alternate fillers to your satisfaction.

Filling your own carts with your own liquid is much more economical than purchasing the pre-filled ones and from what most people say tastes a lot better too. I agree as I continue to branch out into new flavors.

Edit: When you investigate the DIY recipes you will likely note that sometimes distilled water is added for the right consistency. It shouldn't be too thick or too thin which is why I recommend checking out the proportions others have used successfully. While you are waiting for your orders you may want to find yourself an eye drop bottle or something similar. You can add your ingredients into the bottle, shake well, and use that for topping off your cartridges. Some vendors that sell liquids also sell bottles, fer cheap. Additonally if you buy pre-mixed liquids, which is also economical compared to pre-filled carts, many vendors liquids come in squeeze bottles.

I really hope I've not confused?!

I personally don't put the drops into the atomizer............every hour or two I drop a couple drops onto the cotton filter thingy(topping off)I never run mine dry. Then I just wash it out every couple days and refill it til it wears out

Great links !
Was about to buy the $2.50 bottle of VG .... i realised theres a $35 shipping charge to the UK ... not good :D

I heard somewhere that Distilled water can be used, is that possible, have you had any experience with that ?

If i try distilled water, mixed with a flavour, will that work ? It doesnt have to contain Nicotine.

I just wanna get the jist of things before i hit the $30 bottles of e-liq

In the UK I believe you can get VG at Boot's or something like it? You can find it in pharmacies as well as craft stores that sell cake or candy making supplies. It's very cheap. Best to be sure it is either food grade or labeled USP which means its safe for consumption as I understand it.

You can use distilled water to thin your mix if necessary but using too much is too runny and also makes for a liquid that tastes like, well steam. You wouldn't want to use it as your base.

You will want to be sure that your flavoring is vape safe. Lorann's and Bickford are popular. I don't know if you can find them locally. You could try the cooking section at Tesco perhaps? The flavoring cannot be oil based, but water and should be light in color.

Here are a few: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/2498-lorann-candy-flavours.html

And quite a few more: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/1045-bickford-flavor-list-complete-list.html

I have had no luck finding flavorings locally. I hope you fare better. Vaping straight VG tastes like... nothing. You will get nice vapor from it though.

I would suggest you have some sort of dripper bottle or squeeze bottle, like one used for eye drops or breath freshener. Clean it out well and mix your liquid in that. Then you can just squeeze the drops onto your cartridge filler.

Honestly Gee I am very happy to help. I really hope you find your ingredients so you can get to playing asap!

OK Gee, you got me on this one. I don't know anything about drops for normal cigs. I have heard of someone trying vanilla essence and they said it tasted terrible. Gave off a burnt flavor. I'm guessing it has to do with the loads of caramel color in there, but not sure. I believe also that the burnt taste was difficult to remove.

I would hate to steer you in the wrong direction and find you've fried an atomizer. I suppose you could take a look at the liquids for cigs and check out the ingredients? You definitely don't want anything oil based. I would be cautious.

Howdy Gee;

My first backups were those cheapies. I bought 10 double sets, and they're still going. They're M401 copies. Any of the M401 parts will fit.

Refilling the carts will be a little aggravating. You'll notice that the inner cart has a foil seal that gets punctured by the atty bridge. When empty the best thing to do is peel the foil off. Under the foil, is a plastic seal. Peel that off too. Then you refill them as normal carts. Honestly, they sort of suck. When you're ready, order some blank (empty) M401 carts, and throw away the cheapies after you puffed them dry. If you'd like, you can keep the insides and dump the outer cart sleeve.

Hey there Jim !
By Cheapies do you mean the e-cig carts from deal extreme ?

I can sort of visualise what youre saying, but cant fully make it out as i havent got my e-cig yet. Hopefully its in the post, should be here on the 20th June ... long wait yet :(
However, ill keep this thread bookmarked, and will refer to it when i need to refill my mouthpieces.

About Dealextreme, the place i made my order ... i heard someone hijacked the domain, hense the reason no one has been able to access the site for 2 days ... kind of pisses me off ... i cant even track my order :(

I mean the whole starter kit. If you got what I think you got, it's a Health E-cig. Comes in a cigarette pack with built in charger. A while back, they were $10.00 for a starter kit. Lots of people said they were junk, but mine all worked. The "cheapies" were what turned me on to the M401's. But as I said before, those carts with the foil seals suck. I just got a load of real M401 carts, and they're great.

oh no, i was considering that but i decided to spend a few morre $'s and invest in a pack with a few more refils. take a look at the link in the post above ur last post. thas the kit i ordered, comes with a usb charger or an ac one.

I believe all of them are the Health e-cig. Don't worry, as long as they work. When the carts are empty, ya just scrape off the foil & plastic seal, and you're good to go.

I gave a few of mine to my brother-in-law. He's been sucking on that thing for two months now, and is still on the first atomizer. Don't let that fact keep you from getting spare attys. They'll blow out when you least expect it. Like I said before, just order attys for the M-401.
