What is Reddit and what is upvote?

Reddit is the largest internet forum on the web. With all sort of subforums including one for Ecigs. Things with the most "Upvotes" get moved higher on the page. So up-voting with putt things on the front page of the ecig sub-forum.

Ok, I'm there now....I've created an account.....how the hell do I 'Upvote'? I tried using the search function to find out...all I'm getting is blah, blah, blah. I assumed it has something to do with the arrows on the side but nothing happens when I try to click on them. They are shaded gray too, so another assumption is they are disabled to me.
