I'm not sure what to think about that, but I think it worries me...

We call know that the ANTZ are trying to get electronic cigarettes included in all no-smoking bans, in part because it "look like" smoking.
And how successful they are, and will be, is fairly dependent on how the politicians/public feel about that.

Advertisements like this are liable to turn a good percentage of the public against us...
At least among those that haven't had any exposure to electronic cigarettes.

My first impression was I liked the commercial, but when you put it like that, you kind of make sense. It is a shame that the creative minds have to be so careful not to offend or tick anyone off. The ad overall isn't offensive except the fact that it looks like smoking.....gosh no, cant do that. what happened to the days of Richard Pryor, Andrew Dice.....smoking was part of their act. Cant really get away with it anymore.

I don't have any problems with these ads because they encourage more smokers to buy/use e-cigs instead of smoking.

Besides, since 2009, e-cigarette prohibitionists have been claiming that e-cigarettes are being marketed to smokers for use when and where smoking isn't permitted.

Nearly a decade ago, UST ran ads for Skoal and Copenhagen showing a picture of people gathered inside a smokefree bar, with the words "Enjoy the pleasures of Skoal whenever and wherever you want," which prompted CTFK, ACS, AHA, ALA, AAP, etc to insist that smokeless tobacco is NOT a safe alternative to cigarettes, and to oppose smokeless tobacco as THR alternative for smokers.
