Duh! Did I say PROVARI!! That was WISHFUL thinking LOL!!! I meant my INFINITY!!!

I was using 50/50 FSUSA juice. I just tried the second one with a 70/30 mix of VV Grapplemelon on my 808D-1 and don't get a burnt taste with it.

I am a little worried though - the first one came unglued very easily when it got wet with juice and the second one is at the verge of leaking too. Nice concept but needs some work IMO!

Thanks!

Not sure what voltage to use because I am not lucky enough to have a Provari. But I would suggest starting at a low voltage.

The reason being is once you get that burnt taste, it means your burning juice and forming "gunk" on the coil wire. The gunk inhibits wick and cause more gunk and more burnt taste. It is a death spiral.

I'd suggest starting at 3.2v and moving up slowly. You might find also that thicker juices do better at a somewhat lower voltage than thinner juices. Thicker juices just don't wick as fast as thinner juices. Hence, they can form "gunk" faster under certain situations.

...

LOL... I hear you.

I really would like a Provari. Kinda the Cadillac of the VV PV’s. But I can’t even afford a Little Sister right now so I’m stuck in the Single Voltage world.

Take my advice! DON'T get a Little Sister! I had one for 2 weeks and had to send it back to be repaired - the regulator burnt. I have had it back for about 4 days and it has stopped working again!
Go with a BUZZ or an INFINITY from NotCigs - a little larger but very sturdy!

What voltage do you use with these Vortex cartos? I just got mine today and tried it at 4.3 on my Provari - first taste was nice, then Burnt! Help!

3.7 and below, you cant use these in the 4 volt range

did you twist off the tube or is it leaking on its own, 25 on my desk filled with no leaks so could you please explain whats going on and as stated in many of the htreads the vortex is for 3.7 volts and below.

if oyu take it up to where your taking it to you will get a burnt taste

I grabbed it at the bottom where it connects - I know better than try and twist off from the top - I am used to clearos. It came loose and leaked everywhere. I have # 2 now and it is not leaking so far but turns round and round at the bottom - I think the glue comes loose when it gets wet with juice.

I backed my VV down to 3.7 and it's vaping OK now - thanks!

And I just realized the glue may have came loose due to the higher voltage/heat. It's my fault BAD!!! No worries!

The next new one I break out I will not take it past 3.7V and see how the glue holds up on it.

My 808 batteries charge to 4.2 volts and cut out at ~3.7 volts and below. Is that voltage out of range for 808 equipment? As far as I know, I am using standard 808 batteries and chargers.

First Impression of the Vortex...

It's got to be the easiest thing to fill bar none!

Pulled out the cap and dripped it full of Flux Nectar Dew. I was using a bottle that produces giant drops, so a little did go down the middle tube.

Popped the cap back on...Since I'm running the first test on an auto battery I decided to play it safe and fill it 'off the battery'...so I just liberally dumped in the juice then blew any bits that might have gotten in the center tube on through and wiped it good.

screwed it on a KR808d-1 380ma XL auto battery.

Vapes well from the first puff! I didn't let it soak or anything...just started vaping away...I'm trying a new flavor that I'm not famaliar with so I'm still not ready to comment on Vortex flavor just yet. I do like this first taste of Dew through the Vortex so far however :)

So far, I'm impressed!

Only thing I worry about so far...is that the cap can pop out pretty easily. This is a catch 22 in that makes it nice and easy to fill...but I'd think twice before sticking this in a pocket or tossing it on a car seat. I know it will be simple to rig something else that'll plug better if this gives me problems (I.E. snip off the seal part of it and use a drip tip or regular plug on top of it).

Will see how it lasts...I'm going to abuse this first batch to get an idea of what it can handle :)

So far it feels like a winner. Definately a 10 out of 10 in the ease of filling department!

no thats seems to be ok, but going past that will give you a bad taste, they where disgned for 3.7 batteries that start at 4.2 then drop

badkola - thanks for the reply. ...a little further query. Can I assume a VV setting of 4.2 (or 4.19) volts with continued vaping at that voltage for satisfactory vaping and carto performance?

...looking for that lil' ol' package to arrive outta New York!

I just got mine and I have to agree with Credo's observations about the tip. Also, you may want to exercise caution if you are using the eGo and a cone. Its a very tight fit and I actually tightened my cone down to where it separated the Vortex tube from its base which effectively killed it as I couldnt get it to go back together without ruining the wick material. I think the fit issue will probably be resolved when they come out with the 510 Vortex.

Other than those issues I'm loving the Vortex. By far the best carto experience I've ever had. I think this one is a winner!

Those eGo cones can be nasty on cartos...was always having to remove stickers and such to get any air-flow...

I mod every one I get one of two ways.
1. Cut little notches at the top with a dremil disk, one at a time, nice and neat, till I get the air flow I like, then wallow the entire hole a little larger.

or

2. Just grind the entire tip down to offer a bit more room.

I received mine yesterday. I filled one with 20/80 vg/pg and prime the wick with a needle/syringe. I got burnt taste! Let it sit for an hour and it didn't help. I filled another with thin pg and get the same result. I lower the voltage down below 3.3v and the burnt taste is gone but there is absolutely no flavor. I disassemble one, remove the mat, wash the wick with hot water and dry burn. Re-assemble it without the mat/filler material. Fill it back up with the same juice and getting good vapor and flavor at 3.7v to 4.0v. There is a very minor leak so I took it apart again. Wrap a layer of PTB around it to cover the wick and hole and re-assemble again. This time no leak! I can hit this thing with 4.5v and still no burnt taste, good flavor and good vapor. I'm a happy camper!

Credo, You have to push the soft mouth piece all the way back in after you fill it. They ship the carto with the mouth piece loose. In fact it can be so tight that you have to be careful not to pull the center tube out when you remove it again.

Super news on the comming improvements :)

So far, just using around the house it hasn't popped off..and I've even let it hang by the tip a few times. No leaking at all thus far...counting setting it down on it's side...dropping it once, and doing the 'ooo, look, my e-cig is rubber' trick that we all did with our pencils back in grade school. (holding by the battery...not by the cap)

I do like the way these grooves feel on the cap...I love how nothing hard chips at my teeth if I want to do my infamous 'vaper swings his golf club with e-cig in mouth' thing...that's even better on my dental work than my drip tips :)

I can also tell that if some reason I wanted to rid myself of the cap, I could cut it down with a razor keeping the seal part, then pop in whatever drip-tip or plug I wanted.
