Hello all!
It's been a while since I wrote a post so I figured I'd let you know what I've been up to.
As the title suggests, I moved into DIY juice and it's been the best thing I've done since starting vaping.
Besides being infinitely cheaper than buying bottle after bottle of juice, there is one very important aspect to DIY that is seldom discussed...FUN!
I find this to be so much fun and relaxing. I love experimenting and trying different things to make different flavors. I was buying juice off of a friend that made his own. He's straight up legit and makes fantastic juice. With his help and guidance, I made the jump myself and haven't looked back.
Originally, I got into it to make a clone of Ghostberry for myself to save a few dollars. Once I started mixing, it became so much more than that. (if anyone is wondering, yes, I did nail down a clone of Ghostberry. No recipe online, all trial and error)
I have also nailed a fantastic Strawberry Milkshake which is quickly becoming my new fav.
I also use only VG and whenever possible, only VG based flavorings. Not that I have anything against PG, but I like thick juice because I drip exclusively (for now, looking at Vaporesso Gemini RTA in the future).
There is much more to learn and discover in DIY and I'm looking forward to it. If you are looking to make the jump to DIY, you will not regret it, BUT...Please follow this sage wisdom...READ, READ, READ! Read all you can and as much as you can. Learn about all the possible dangers and be prepared to vape some pretty disgusting mixes before you get the hang of it. Oh, and speaking of that, while you are trying to nail down the exact flavor you're looking for, skip the nicotine. If, by the grace of God, you get the flavor perfect, you can add the nicotine after.
Another piece of advice: Work with 36 or 48mg nicotine base when learning. 100mg will definitely last longer but is MUCH more dangerous to work with. Please remember that even 1 drop on bare skin of 100mg nicotine base CAN (and probably will) KILL YOU! So, use safety equipment (gloves, etc...)
As always, be safe and Vape On!

DIY was the best move I made too but for different reasons. I don't chase flavors or clouds. The first thing I did was dilute pre mix I liked. Then I got some cupiccino flavoring by Capella. I use a tiny amount, about 1.5 ml per 100 ml and have'nt done anything else since. One of the important things about minimal flavoring is it has minimal impact on room air and if liquid leaks into my clothing it's not noticable to bystanders. My prefered nic level is 10 mg. That's not available anywhere. In a month or so I'm going to try 9 mg and I'll stay there for a while so long as daily ml's don't increase. I'm trying to decrease nic so my stash lasts longer. I'd rather be reducing daily ml's.

What ever the other reasons government interference makes DIY pretty much manditory for anybody who plans to be a life long vaper.

I'm all for safety ... however, a drop or 2 of 100mg nicotine on bare skin will not kill you.

You had my attention until the last paragraph.
I have had an 'accidental spill' of 100mg and I am still here. And I had all the safety equipment on and in place. There is no accounting for when your hands loose their grip on whatever they are holding. While I do recommend washing the area immediately after a spill and keeping little ones and pets totally away from any area where you are mixing, I don't recommend being so scared of something you are afraid of mishandling it because then you will.

And if you are tooting your own horn about some fav recipe you have, the least you can do is share. That may get my attention.

:)

Those of us who vaped 24mg juice to get off the stinkies had many an occasion where our 2010 era cartridge based eGo dumped juice in our mouth. We spit it out and lived to tell about it. 100mg is definitely something to exercise care with, but there are too many first hand stories about 100mg spills and skin contact that didn't result in side effects.

Wash it off and clean it up immediately. Exercise care, do it in a ventilated environment, wear gloves and eye protection, work out of a small bottle of 100mg nic to minimize spillage, and do it on a plastic drop cloth for easier clean up.

FWIW, when I transitioned from 24mg down to 3mg I did it in about 3-4 months. Every time I'd order juice I'd go lower. Over a 3 or 4 month period I went from 24mg to 18mg to 12mg to 6mg to 3mg. Each time I noticed no increase in juice consumption or nic withdrawal. I was actually surprised, but it was way too easy.

I went to 0mg once, but the peppery nic bite was gone and it wasn't satisfying, so I went back to 3mg and have vaped that since (about 2 years). I'm still vaping about 10ml a day at 3mg.

Please us care when making "matter of fact" statements like this. Safety and care is always encouraged, putting fear into people is not cool.

Perfect example of causing a little hysteria in the vaping community. I'd suggest doing more research before making such claims. I've been using 100mg for years and by what you said and the many times I've got it on my skin and even in my eyes I should be dead countless times over. But yet here I am alive and kicking and in the best health I've been in, in years. So maybe I'm the luckiest person alive or your just wrong.
I agree a certain amount of caution should be taken as should be with any household chemical but to make a blanket statement "that it will likely kill you" is ridiculous. Maybe if you chug it down like soda you may have a point but "one drop on bare skin", I don't think so.

I remember watching one of those dateline stories about an individual who killed his wife by poisioning her with 1000mg nicotine by slipping it into his wife's drinks and at that it took a 3 - 4 month steady diet of it to accomplish this dirty deed.

Everybody is different. I smoked for many years. When I tried to move nic down too fast daily ml's increased so I'm going slower, what's the hurry. What I'd rather be doing is lowering daily ml's. That's harder but I may be inching towards 6 ml's from 7.

Shelf life of nic is going to be the same no matter my daily ml's. My cost of nic per day is 3.5 cents, about $13 year. At that price it's free. So when stocking is perfected I'l have 20 years but only expecting 10 years of shelf life. Time will tell.

I am also getting back into DIY due to financial issues and a Ghostberry clone is one of my first items to try...lol. My husband loves it and we can't afford the quantities he would like to consume of it. So I have a baseline to start with and once we get all the flavorings in the fun begins!!! I am working on a Blue Bay clone for myself so it will be interesting to see what other neat flavors we find along the way...

I switched over about 6-8 months ago. DIY has been a lot of fun and satisfaction for me. I started at 24mg nic and am down at 1-1.5mg. Safety always, but no making mountains out of molehills.

Vaping to get away from all of the cigarette chemicals has been an amazing journey. I am amazed at how cigarette makers get away with making them so easy and convenient to use. Vaping, on the other hand, is not easy to use and it is even being suppressed.

Anyway, vaping is just a great place to make a hobby. DIY is tinkering, trying, re-tinkering, re-trying, and then finding the treasure. From a PAD, to where I am at today is a definite gift.

Oh, @MrDripper, this is my Strawberry Malt. I use 70 PG but I still like a heavier sensation.

7% TFA Malted Milk
6% INW Shisha Strawberry
6% TFA Ripe Strawberry
2% TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

What are you using?

Maybe @MrDripper does not understand that 100mg nicotine is only a 10% solution?? It is easy to not get that - when I first tried DIYing I had to keep telling myself that over and over 100mg does not mean 100%. Also there is a forum member that vapes 50mg Nicotine unflavored at high wattage and low ohms - we are all different tolerance wise.;) But I do agree try not to scare the newbies.

RE: diluting pre-made store bought juice.

Some flavors are so strong/intense that diluting down to 1ml premade to 30 unflavored base still tastes awesome. The only flavor I would still buy is Cloud 9 Royal, "Rich, decadent butter cream vanilla custard with sweet back notes."

Some not so good// A certain mexican chocolate strawberry cream didn't fare so well.

Amazes me how much the flavor still carries when diluted down so far.

Have fun!
