I have finally narrowed my search. I have been doing a lot of research, but would like some thoughts or opinions on my final two choices. I really like Mig Cig for the cig alike look. I have always smoked the most while driving so I want something that I will not stand out too much in the car...I drive A LOT!!! If I go with these I plan on getting the clear fusion tank, but haven't been able to find much info on replacement coils or cleaning. My other choices are the triton or evod...seemed a little big to me at first, but boy have I learned a lot about how small it is in comparison to most. Def not a discreet as the mig cig, but the reviews I have seen are really good for a noob, and feel like their is a lot more info out there on care and upkeep. I feel like I know more about what all would be needed or involved. I am looking to this group to help guide me as I do not know anyone else who has made the switch to vaping. Hoping to be the trend setter here

Please share pros cons thoughts. Things I may need to know for upkeep and proper care on any of the devices. I Am a total vaping virgin, and don't want to waste money on something terrible that I ditch in a week.

My advice would be to avoid the cigarette size batteries all together. You can't expect a battery that small to compete with the performance of a real cigarette. You're going to be disappointed, and not care that it "looks" like a cigarette. You'll wish you had gotten something bigger like an Ego.

I went that route myself. My first starter kit was a Smokeless Image Volt setup. These are considered a top of the line beginner's setup, but after 2 - 3 weeks I was ready for more battery life and more juice capacity. I wish someone had encouraged me to skip that phase all together and I would have put that money into an intermediate setup.

Welcome!

You can definitely use any juice with the Mig, or with any other e cig.

I have to agree with Baditude above... the "kr808d" batteries, like Mig, are pretty lightweight, and limit you as to what kind of tanks you can use. I bought V2's to start with and ended up upgrading within a couple of weeks (after I went to a local shop and experienced what "real" vaping was).

But, if you feel it's what you want, I'm sure it will serve you at least for a while ... probably longer than my V2's served me. I did notice that the Mig is "regulated voltage," meaning it will produce even power throughout the charge, so you don't start strong and fade as the battery discharges. That's a good thing.

Of the products you mentioned, I think the evod would be a better choice. But, as a starter, whatever you buy is likely to be an "entry level" product that you'll end up replacing, whether that's in a month or 6 months. So don't fret about it too much.

Good luck!

One other thing... if you go with the kr808d battery (like the Mig), and you're in the car a lot, you might look for a "passthrough" battery that you can plug into a car charger and use, without using up your batteries.

Here is an example: KR808D-1 Manual USB Passthrough

Or you can google "kr808d passthrough" and find them at a lot of places. These should be compatible with the Mig cartridges (and you don't necessarily have to order one of these right off the bat... but it might be something you want to add as you get into it a little more)

Wow this gets more and more confusing as I go. When I first thought about switching to an ecig I had no idea what was out there. I really thought they were all cigalikes. Stopped by my local shop and was totally caught off guard when he pulled out the evod. That was when I realized I needed a vape education. I have been leaning toward the evod...partly because everything I need is available at my local shop which is 5 mins from home

Just be glad you're seeing it BEFORE laying out a bunch of money for a kit. I think you'll become less concerned with the "look" of smoking a cigarette as you get more into it. I know I did.

Also, I'm always torn as to where to buy... I kinda' want to support a good local shop, but the prices online are usually so much better. You'll have to make that call, lol.

Hi Tarener! Welcome to the forum. I can certainly empathize with your dilemma. I'm new to vaping as well (mid Jan 2014) and I did a ton of research before making my first purchase and I was fairly confident when I made my final decision on the Halo G6 starter kit, a KR808 type battery like the Mig Cig you're looking at. Anyways, I loved it and after about a week I decided I wanted something larger. Needless to say, I've been shopping online like crazy and I now own several different types of vaping devices including a variable voltage device that I don't totally understand yet, but I digress. My point being, these guys are right. Don't get hung up too much on your first purchase because more than likely you'll be upgrading before you know it. It is important though to have a good first experience with vaping so you'll be encouraged to continue and not go back to cigarettes. And for the record, I still love my Halo G6 cigalike and use it daily. But, I also enjoy having other devices of varying power and size for different liquids and situations. Good luck and take a look at the Johnson Creek Vea. It was my second purchase and it's my favorite of all my devices. It's the perfect combination of power, beauty and stealth IMO. Tarener: I started with the evod starter kit. 2 of everything and pretty simple to use. I still use it every now and then, including right now. If you decide that is route you want to go, there are vendors here that sell starter kits at probably a better price than your local shop. I'm all for supporting a new brick and mortar (b&m) and local businesses. I'm also a strong supporter of saving a $.

I'd advise you not to go with any cig alikes or those cartomizer types that you refill with a cartridge. When I first started I ordered a cig alike kit online... It was only 30 bucks...when I got it I thought wow so I ordered a ton of flavors, 100 bucks worth because the cost comes in those little cartridges. Then a day later I ordered my husband the same kit and 100 more in cartridges of a flavor he would like... Duh... 2 days later we found ego style batteries and tanks... A week later variable voltage mods... The point being we have 2 kits... 260 bucks worth sitting on a shelf... I finally gave it all to my brother in law because after tasting what real vaping is I was never using those again. Those are not nearly as good as an ego with a tank that you can refill with eliquid. Later you'll want a better tank but for now if I were you I'd buy and ego kit... You can get them for 30 or 35 bucks with tanks. Then grab some eliquid and you're set.

Good luck

And don't waste your money like I did. That money I wasted I'd spent on another atomizer or mod early on...

Basically it boils down to your preference and budget. I have only been vaping for a few weeks. In that time I have bought the v2 cigs then the Halo Triton starter kit added a variable volt battery a mvp2 box mod And a mechanical mod. I could go into all the details of how each one is different and better or worse but it would only be my opinion and you will get 20 different opinions from 20 different people. I would say to you try the Halo Triton or a similar set up such as a ego style. Just a fyi out of all i have bought and i am using my Halo's and they are # 1 choice for me.

That's really pretty good advice. I was tempted to recommend what I use, but that would just add to the confusion. A basic ego kit is miles better than a cigalike, and will serve you well for a good time.

I was looking at some online pricing vs my local shop. I was surprised the price wasn't bad for the evod. It was $45 for the starter kit and that includes a bottle of juice of your choice. What I have seen online some of them are cheaper but by the time I factor in juice and shipping it was about the same. And some of the places who are super cheap are sold out :( please let me know if you know of a place that has them for a great deal cause I would definitely look into those as well...always up for saving a few $$

Does the starter kit come with one battery or two? That's a great price for a 2-battery set, not too bad for a single one.

I do have to mention FastTech.com for the long term! Great prices, free shipping and very large selection but it will take a LONG time to get here. So that's for the next round.

Congrats for making the decision to quit. For that price I would go ahead and pull the trigger on it. Make sure to try a bunch of flavors before deciding on a juice. I was convinced that menthol would be the only thing I could vape on all day long, and it was my all day vape when I was using an ego. I purchased a mechanical mod off ebay and the vendor sent me some jolly rancher juice which to my surprise is now my all day vape.
