Number 1, if someone you know just got a "mechanical" and put a tank on it and doesn't know squat about ohms law or battery safety, that is a huge no no!
2nd, the tanks are not the problem as much as the coils and what you expect out of them. Those are sub ohm coils in most of those tanks, the crown 1 has a 1.something coil that is not. The lower the resistance of the coil generally the more wattage it takes to fire it, and they are made for direct lung hitting, more vapor. It sounds like mostly what would suit you is a coil ( for any tank ) that is over .5 ohm. Lower wattage than say a .3 or .2 coil would need, will need a little less airflow, still plenty of vapor for many...

Yes they are all sub ohm tanks. And the only coil for the Valarian is a .15. But all that aside if I dial up the wattage to the low end of what the coil says it gets so hot I don't see how anyone could stand not getting burnt unless they put a different tip on. I have tried to draw faster and some other things but perhaps while I am 6 foot 200lbs my lung capacity is not huge? I am just throwing out guesses.

I can get .4 ohm coils for the Cleito and the BBB and the Nunchaku. The Cleito as some SS .5 ohm but don't like so much. But the new mesh coil for the BBB is a .15 and it is one of my favorite coils and I really like that type of heating element.

I wish I had it here in front of my but I was talking with an online vape site owner and explaining things and the gist of it was that you can achieve an ohm rating by how thick the wire is and how long the wire is or IOW how many wraps. And explained the difference in the construction and which met my vaping needs best. It was very insightful and shows that there is a lot more too it than purely the ohm rating.

To date the BBB works best and is cheapest to buy coils for. But if there is another tank out there which is perfect for a decent amount of cool vapor at around 40 watts with coils that will be inexpensive and not go out of stock when the next big tank from that company hits the market that would be great. There are just so many brands and opinions and if maybe on sale a tank is around$25 that would be good. I would go higher but would want to buy more than one so the tank and coils costing less would mean I could stock up on them like I do right now with the BBB.

I don't know all of the new tech on the market I bet either. I have been busy with other things. I have no idea what "doggy style" coils are for example.
My local vape shop has a ton of stuff that they are going to put on clearance. It could just be one of the best suggestions will be there. I have the Valyrian and the Crown 3 which are both supposed to be top of the line from reviews. I kept finding just sub ohm tank reviews. And I don't want MTL vaping either. There are a lot of brands and tanks out there I am sure I don't even know about and I don't find anything be it hardware or juices for anything other than sub ohm vaping.

He got a Priv with a baby beast. I have been trying to help him out with things but he has some store he goes to. I am sure he is paying big money for things.
I had to really straighten him out when we were talking about cleaning coils to recycle them and someone he knows uses chemicals like carburetor cleaner to clean things. I am hoping he will quit smoking but is not around genius level people. He is a carpenter and is a bit slow. He has had to be told to not vape in line in a grocery store. He is an odd one.
His coils are way too far gone to be recycled. I have been able to do that with Crown 1 coils and got a second life and probably could with the mesh coils. I just used hot water and tried vodka which is crazy expensive in my State from taxes. But I just find cheap sources to buy new ones and toss old ones.

It is interesting that if I were to build coils for my Crave I would really need to get them in a certain range to work well. With the premade coils in my BBB I can leave it at the same wattage for a .15 or a .4 without too huge a difference.

And as I mentioned performance changes. I just took a hit off the 2 mods with tanks beside me and got a decent amount of vapor from the same thing that was not earlier.
I really think that the ambient temperature has an affect on this.
The Priv is not a mechanical device, it is regulated.
Pick up at Freemax Mesh tank with the SS316 mesh coil which you can run in either wattage mode or TC. They don't need much wattage(40-60w) , the flavor is the best on the market, decent vapor, no leaks, and long lasting coils. It comes with a 3ml tank and the 5ml tanks are available.
As far as RTAs I use the Geekvape Blitzen and Vandy Vape Kensai. Plenty of room for 3mm ID coils.

You want more vapor ? more watts and high vg juice are your friend, also i use 88 watts on my dual Stainless build on my rda and get a cool vape not hot, but not cold either just perfection imo.

Also the lower you go with resistance the more power you'll need to get a better experience (at least imho)

But my Crave Aromamizer Supreme is a much better unit if I want to start building my own coils.
It has juice tank flow control and lots of well designed features. I thought I would save on coils by buying that. I found that I really did not have the time to mess with that and just found some online dealers that sell coils at very low prices. US dealers with real product. Maybe in the future as Crave still makes extra parts for that cheap and also offers a new deck that is improved so the coil size is not so limited as it used to be.
The aromamizer supreme is rebuild only I believe? Don't try to get fancy with your coils at first. Start with single wire coils, kanthal is easiest to work with, 2.5 or 3mm inner diameter, 7 to 9 wraps. Learn how to make those work before getting into more complicated coils. Many beginners nowadays have this mentality that you can just buy prewrapped coils, screw them in and go. No, just no. Placement in relation to deck, airflow, and chimney can make all the difference on flavor. You have to "glow" or dry burn your coils to even out hot spots ( unless they are spaced coils and not recommended for stainless steel, titanium, or nickel ). Wicking also makes a big difference sometimes too. Start simple and learn what you like and how it works, and why it works.
Frankly, and I mean this very nicely with hope you will take this farther, you have a lot of learning and experience to gain about the gear you currently have.

You already have one of the best tanks on the market: the original Uwell Crown.

It's possibly the most underrated and versatile tank on the market. It has four coil options available designed for the way YOU prefer to vape:
  • 0.15 ohm Dual Ni200 Nickel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 400 to 600 Degrees Fahrenheit
  • 0.25 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 80 to 120W
  • 0.5 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 30 to 80W
  • 1.2 ohm Single Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Coil - 10 to 30W
5 pack Uwell Crown replacement coils - $ 9.99
The ratcheted air control ring can be adjusted for a MTL to a DTL technique.

Like you, I'm not a high wattage vaper. My sweet spot is usually 30 watts. I use both the 0.5 ohm and 1.2 ohm coils. I probably prefer the 0.5 ohm coils more because once in a blue moon I get crazy and vape up to 40 watts.

I get great flavor and good vapor production. Not room filling vapor but that is not my intent.

I'm not a fan of the stock metal drip tip. I replaced it with a Cherry Vapes Cloud Chaser tip which is made of delrin. I chose the one which has a tapered end which I prefer.

I think it is extremely important to properly prime and "break in" the coils, no matter which tank or coils you use. It takes patience. Watch the below video. Its for the original Crown tank, but the principles shared are relevant for any tank/coil you use.

I am not quite a newbie but they make you have your first 5 posts here. I can make coils for my Crave (or in general) that work great. I just choose not to spend my time on that right now.
I have been vaping for over 3 years.
Still the number of components involved here to make up a working vape are very few so diagnosing the issue should not be so hard but I am not above asking for suggestions from others to figure this thing out.
I have owned a dozen mods and currently have two, the Smok Mag and a COV Tempest which is a 3 battery mod I picked up on sale for $10 as a back up but it is not too bad.
I have plenty of 18650 batteries and a good 4 place charger. I have Sony VTC6, VTC5A pairs and a pair of LG G2s and most recently 6 Samsung 30Qs which I am particularly impressed with and the price was nice.

I am very adept at priming my coils thoroughly. From the inside and then out and get some juice on the O rings to help the seal and then let it sit in a tank of juice for a good 30 minutes, more if I am doing something else. I also take dry hits to ensure that the juice gets through the wick and to the cotton inside.

I just checked the Crown 3 coils I am using and they are the 5 ohm (they also say 70-80 watts) not that I ever get close to the specs on the coils. I am not quite sure what partial amount of juice in there is but I have a cluttered up vape area and I will see if I can find some high VG juice. I just ordered some new juice and will have more after that. I typically get 30/70.
There is only one juice that is lower in VG I use and that is only because this company decided to make it that way. I LOVE vanilla and by far the only juice I have found that has a strong bold vanilla taste is Colossus by Cyclops. They make it in 35/65. That is not in any of the tanks we are discussing here.

Since I really like the new Smok Mesh coils and would like to try their "strip" coils which is the much larger Kanthal wire mesh I will take a look at that Fireluke suggestion. If a tank is using mesh I am going to be much more interested. As long as I can continue to get coils for it even if a new tank comes out.

As far as the Crown 3 that and even more so the Valyrian are thought of as awesome tanks. And you seem to like exactly the same type of vapor I do. So when I get some higher VG juice to give myself a fair try. I think my local shop carries some 20/80 just to rule out juice as a reason. They may even have some tips that are better for what I need for not too much of a price to add insulation. But don't want the hot vapor.

I have memory issues at times and I can't honestly recall if my Crown 3 was a tank I was ever impressed by. My Crown 1 didn't look like much but was really good. I am pretty sure that at some point I liked the valayrian because I recall putting it in the little plastic holder during cleaning or coil changes etc but maybe not. The Prince came with the Mag Mod and I recall it working better before and I bought coils for it which I would not have done if it did not ever work for me. This is why I am confused. Why multiple tanks used to work well and don't know is hard for me to figure out.
I don't MTL vape and The BBB has worked really well for being inexpensive with inexpensive coils and also now mesh that my plan was to buy several more as they were working the best and most economical.

Thanks for the suggestions all and tips on places with cheap items mentioned. The couple that I was not already familiar with I will look in to. Obviously there can always be a better tank though I would like to get mine working and will make an effort again on my Crown 3 as they vape so much like me and seem to have it work fine for them.

Oh, you know I sort of glossed over the fact you were talking about the Original Crown which yes I think would be great to get back in service. I much more recently bought the Crown 3 which is not doing it for me.

I am going to call the store up the street to see if they have any Crown 1 coils in 1.2.
Otherwise will order likely from the site you posted. I can get them cheaper but they seem to only have them in .25. But yes that has a lot of metal in it and is quite tall and I think this helps keep things cool.

The tanks I have that seem to work, just better at some times than others.

1. Smok Big Baby Beast I like the Q2 and the Mesh best.
2. Uwell Crown 1
3. Aspire Cleito original. Going to get a new glass for expanded juice capacity.
4. Uwell Nunchaku

Those that are currently not giving me great results

1. Smok TFV12 Prince (have hopes for this)
2. Uwell Valyrian
3. Uwell Crown 3

RDTA
Steam Crave Aromamizer Supreme.
Well designed works well with clapton coils.
The make another deck that does not restrict builds
like the original and also cheap spare part kits. This is what I would use if I had time to make coils. I would also buy some of the Bacon wick material as it sounds great.

Current mod Smok Mag 225 watt (2 18650)
back up COV Tempest 220 watt (3 18650)

So that is what I have to work with. I am going to keep up on my most successful tanks the BBB but also others. Figure out what the issue is. I will have a ton of juice on it's way to experiment with.
I really don't think I will want to use anything that requires 80 watts or more to really work properly. I would far prefer great flavor and a decent amount of vapor (I can fill up a bedroom) but perhaps about half the output of a typical cloud chaser result.

Ok, I quit smoking in one week after I finally gave vaping a try and would never go back to those nasty cigarettes for anything.

I have gone through a lot of experiments and wasted money over the past 3 years trying to find the right mod, tank, coils and juice in an every changing market.

I don't like hot vapor and honestly I cant see how some of these tanks can be used without causing burns the mouthpieces get so hot near or at their coils ratings. Much less the lava I feel my lungs trying to make it work.

Right now I have a Smok Mag mod which is ergonomic and has more power than I will ever need or use.

The tanks I have that I can use at low wattage (37-40) and get from very little to a decent amount of vapor out of depends on the temperature of the room and if I am making it hot chain vaping it.
I like the Big Baby Beast by Smok best. I like the new mesh coils but also the Q2.
The Cleito works OK for me and I plan on getting an expanded glass so the capacity is better.
And I have a new Uwell Nunchaku which works fairly well and looks nice. I have a Crown 1 that I am not currently using but recall working well and there is a lot of metal to act as a heat sink even though I would not run it at any higher wattage than the others.

The Smok BBB is good because I can get multiples of that tank, I have 2 right now and i can get coils for them inexpensively and of course use them in as many tanks I buy that they fit.

I also have a Valarian and a Crown 3 and a new Prince TFV12 which I remember working at some point but sort of have amnesia and they don't produce any vapor unless I get to higher wattage and then I can't continue as I am literally getting burnt by the heat.

I did buy a RDTA a Crave Aromamizer Supreme when I noticed the cost of coils was too much but the deck had a partition limiting coil sizes and they have come out with a revised one to solve that. I could get that to work though and work well as long as I used clapton coils. Non clapton coils never worked well for whatever reason. But I am looking for a tank that will both produce decent amounts of vapor and great flavor at a low cost.
$10 new so I have that. I like having multiple tanks ready to go so I can change flavors easily.

I see people on you tube videos using any of the tanks I have and are blowing out massive clouds. I am only using 3% nicotine and it is good I am off that habit but I also really can't feel any nicotine even if it is the first thing in the morning.
I took a hit off a friends set up that runs a vape shop with 3mg nic and could really feel it.

There are only so many parts to these things and I am at a loss to figure out where i am going wrong. I used to be able to fill up my room with vapor and now it is just not happening and I can't figure out why. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Nothing for nothing. But I use eleaf HW 1 coils in my baby beast and my big baby Beast. There are a single coil Barrel rated up to 80 Watts. But tastes real fine between 50 to 60 watts unless me personally two weeks or so. They're also $5 less for a 5 pack then any of the smok coils. There are many others that fit the baby Beast and the big baby Beast as well. Some Cost Less some cost more but there is much more to choose from then what the factory recommends. Ask around I got folks out there that will back me up.

I am sure there are other coils that fit. The ones that I currently buy now are $10.50 for a 5 pack. I like the Q2 and the new mesh ones the most.
I like to vape in a lower wattage range such as another member stated about using the Crown 1 again. I can use 37 to 40 watts on all the tanks I use daily.
Early on Smok was making defective coils and I figured out the flaw.
I did not use the tanks for a while as the lasted only an hour to a day quite often. NOW I have not had a dud in dozens of coils.
If there are other coils out there which give better performance than the stock ones I would be willing to try them out. I am really liking the mesh coils and I am interested in the "strip" coils which I don't think will come for the small BBB tanks but the Prince and such.
Instead of the mesh which is a very fine metal weave that is even tighter than a metal screen door the strip using Kanthal is much larger and you can even see the cotton between the weave of the metal on those "net" coils. There were a couple other companies mentioned that were also making "net type coils" and I think that eleaf may have been one of them. If so then sure I would be interested. I just really need to know exact ones to try and also know I am getting ones that will operate well at lower wattage so I get the cool vape I like.
