All I can say is keep your tip super clean I sanded it between points and lots of flux. Good luck buddy and cheers :)

oh... don't sand your soldering iron tips bro -- they are pre-tinned and its a REAL pita to get them working again if you remove the tinning -- to get your tip clean get one of these.

.. or just use a wet sponge / paper towel. But yeah flux is a must -- and the pastey stuff is way better than the liquid -- just dont get plumbing flux -- thats no good.

btw no facebook so i can't see -- get those pics uploaded :p

ah I can see those -- thanks

Yeah interesting approach soldering to the top of the tabs... why not use the tabs instead of breaking them off?
You really dont want to solder to shiney metal that can flex cus the solder will be prone to breaking free...

but hey if its working righton... but if you have problems later that would be the first place I would look...

Is there a build thats suggesting putting the wire up there -- I've seen a couple people do that now... kind of odd

thanks for the tip, if i have problems that will be the first place i will look but can i ask if i don't solder to the tabs which are shiney what else could i do?

That keystone battery sled had tabs on the top and bottom to solder too -- they put a hole in them to give the solder a place to grip on

I just solder my wire to those tabs then bend the tabs up to save on space.
