UkUsa: I'm sure, it's just when it comes to amperage/ohms/resistors/etc. that I get a bit freaked out. I need to really look into this, though. If I can cut batteries out of my budget for personal vaporizers, I can focus on atomizers and juice. I care less what it looks like, and would like one part of the equation to be somewhat reliable, at least.

nice job! how did you wire that coaxial connector? i picked up a few from radio shack to play with but I had trouble getting it to work.

These things are weird, if you are referring to the n-size coaxial jack w/switch. I found that without anything plugged in to it there is no electrical connection from any soldering lug to the outside threads. You must make this connection some way yourself. I suppose you could cut off part of a plug and push it in but I just soldered an extra wire to the threaded part from the negative side of the circuit.

All I did was solder the switch to the outside casing. Alternately you could just solder a wire directly to the metal "rim" directly under the threads.

sigh, why didn't I think of trying that! i was trying every possible combination with the leads and was going crazy trying to figure it out. i should have just treated it like my atomizer mods from the start. Thanks! Is the positive end still the lead labeled "pin" in the diagram?

Sounds to me like you have found the center pin positive connection and feel confident about that. The negative is the entire outer ring - the part with the widest diameter. I soldered mine to the back side of that ring - the side you are only going to see from inside the box.

The two solder leads you don't use are the normally closed switch referred to in the product's name.

thanks guys! I took one of my usb mods apart and rewired it with the n-size coaxial connector and added i in an LED as well just to try it out. It works great! I actually tried it initially with a disposable lithium AA battery but it didn't have enough power which is strange. I'll have to order a few rechargeable AA and AAA sized batteries from dealextreme to try again at some point.
