Refilling the Orchid V1 sucks. It really really sucks. When I unscrew it from the top, the chimney comes unscrewed as well which means the whole chamber becomes flooded. When I unscrew it from the bottom, the chimney won't screw onto the deck again without taking the whole damn thing apart. This thing is just an unusable disaster. I have a top-fill kayfun top cap coming from FT, which should hopefully get here by October. Until then, my Orchid is going on the shelf. I wasted a good 5ml of expensive ejuice just trying to get it to work. The V2 with the bottom fill screw may be better, but the V1 is a piece of junk.

I know what you are talking about with filling from the top. As you turn it, the o-ring is so tight that it unscrews the chimney. I didn't have any issues with filling from the bottom. It shouldn't move the chimney at all with that method, unless you are twisting the deck, rather than the tank. If you grasp by the deck and turn the tank, the chimney shouldn't move. It is usually pretty tight, so what I would do is put something like screwdriver in one of the air holes to grasp by, and then twist the tank to loosen it. From there, I just hold the deck and twist the tank off enough to get a needle in. I've since got a v2, so no more filling from the tank.

After almost completely putting the Russian 91% on the "tried it, doesn't work worth a damn, never going to use" pile, I decided one more build to put it to rest, this time I wicked it like the Orchid V2, I didn't have the wicks come up above the chimney as most videos tell you to do and cut off the excess, then tuck. This time I just used barely enough to touch the top of the juice channels, at the top of the base, not at the lower channels, then put the chimney on(after juicing and test firing). Needless to say this is the best the Russian has performed thus far. It now is a worthy backup to use on occasion. The Orchid V2 gave the Russian another life. Now I just have to wait till the 30th when the Orchid V3 is supposed to ship from Fastech. Can't wait to get my hands on that.

I got my Orchid V2 today, loving it so far. First build wicks perfectly, nice clouds etc.

Have not used the stock plastic tank or topcap, opted to go for the Orcfun instead (1 kayfun nano tank ring, 1 small plastic Kayfun tank section, 1 normal sized Kayfun tank ring & the Kayfun 'heat sink' style topcap)

Awesome bit of kit. Need a few more now...

Sweet. I may have to grab one. It seems a lot better than the kayfun. I didn't really like my kayfun cuz I would always have issues with wicking and didn't like the tight draw.

You should grab AT LEAST one!
The airflow is on par with a dripper, so it should be right up your street. Wicking is pretty easy with it too (so far no problems). The only downside is the capacity, which I am sure will be solved by someone manufacturing alternative chimney parts (and tank sizes).

Cindycated has been talking about trying to fab up a longer chimney, hopefully she will get it.I didn't gain any real capacity,i can squeeze right at 3ml in my v1,with a custom cut quartz kit on it.I think i may be able to get another 1/2ml in it,i will find out next time i fill it.This is my take on how the orchid should have been made, well this setup with the v2 base which is my next purchase haha,so for now i have this on the v1.

There ya go! Looking good!
Yeah,it is definitely an improvement over stock, but i still want to tweak it a bit. With the quartz kit,the metal rings are very close to the chimney,so it's a bit of a pita to fill,so i want to pull it back off,and file the inside edge of the bottom ring to get a bit more clearance there.I figure this will be needed anyway once i get a v2,since the metal ring would probably cover part of the fill hole.I guess it's probably a good thing that i like to mess with stuff like that, because this is taking quite a bit of custom changes to make it perfect haha.
