First coils... need a bit of help/reassurance.

Ok so after waiting 3 weeks my FT order finally came and I'm anxious (having a nic fit atm too) to get it running...

Problem being something isn't working right and before I proceed I was hoping for some advice.

My first 2 coils I build were around what I assumed was 7/64 bit (was in slot for 7/64 in my drill bit case but could have gotten mixed up as I break them often at work and they get replaced by our shops parts guy)

I did a 10 wrap (steam engine pics below) yet only came up with 1.46 with 1 coil on and .75 with a dual (from ohm box reader) I tightened everything up and played with it a bunch but couldn't get it to fluctuate more than .01

Even though this was below the supposed .8 that the Vamo v7 will fire I tried it anyways and it worked..

But as I didn't want to end up with something right on the edge where the Vamo will quit working as soon as I leave the house for work (and that's how things usually happen  ) I decided to work around a bit and plugged some different numbers into steam engine (5/64)

Remaining pics below are steam engine numbers for 5/64, a pic of the wire on the drill bit (I think I'm counting coil wraps right?) And the could that was supposed to be 2.0 reading 2.2

Not sure where I'm going wrong here as I'm off over .5 on one (for single) and .2 on the other... possibly bad ohm reader? Or am I just doing this wrong

Wire guage is 28awg

You might have the wrong drill bit or it could be the length of your coil legs. The ohms are determined by the total length of wire from post to post. It really has nothing to do with wraps. The problem is you really can't measure the length of the legs before you mount your coil, and it's pretty hard to do it afterward. If I were you, I try using the calculator and then subtracting or adding a wrap, and see what you get, because the leg lengths are always going to be just a guess.

What ohm are you trying to achieve? I'm going with the wrong size bit. Granted I use a coil jig, for my kayfun I use 28g Kanthal, wrapping on I believe 2.4mm post and about 8-9 wraps and I usually get around 1.4-1.5. Which I like in that atty, but I don't anything about what you're building it for or what you want to achieve.

I was attempting to achieve 1 ohm (2-2ohm coils). I went across town and picked up a new ohm reader (my local vape shop had none) and do have a great variance between the two. (Though that wasn't my only issues I'm sure)

Additionally the bit was 5/64 (not 7/64 as my first attempt) so that explains the HUGE variance in the first attempt... the .2 difference per coil on second I'm guessing was part ohm reader (two I have are off by ~1.2) and possibly me trimming off too much of my legs as was suggested above.

I did get it up and running yesterday anyways at a 1.4 ohm total build (old reader) but I broke one of my coils while playing with my airflow today... something had clogged one of my holes a bit so I pulled he screw and started poking around until I felt my coil give way and checked my ohms to see it dancing in the 3ohm range. *facepalm* Kinda glad I did though as I decided to rebuild with dual vertical coils for fun this time, with 26 guage (as I kept screwing right through the 28g when tightening) and a 1/8 bit...

Coils are huge but it hits well, looks as if it would feed betterand was a ton easier to wick actually by wrapping as opposed to trying to string it through a small hole. (I broke 2 coils yesterday doing that. -.-)

Also made some delicious juices last night... I tried 2/3 that I ordered from fast tech and almost gagged on one of them it was so bad... so rran down and grabbed a couple syringes and mixed some up with an overnight warm bath steep... 1 might need some more time but the other tastes just like blueberry muffins (even though I was shooting for Pie. XD)

*sry for rambling so long.... Just woke up for work and realized I'm writing a half page reply as I'm still half asleep.

New setup below (reads 1.02 ohm on new reader after heated and squeesed with tweezers) when this coil dies I think I'll try a clapton.
