My first experience with tobacco was while tying and racking tobacco for a farmer in North Carolina. I worked tobacco barns as a summer job during high school. I'd get the nicotine buzz from tobacco juice on my skin. Sometimes the juice soaked right through my clothes. My parents were smokers. Dad quit during his 50's and lived to the age of 82. Mom never quit and died of emphysema before she reached the age of 70.
I smoked socially for a few years but by the mid-70's I was smoking seriously at the university. Smoking did two things for me then: it helped to keep me alert during long study sessions and it did a great job of controlling my pollen allergies without drowsiness.
Smoking also helped to deepen my voice during the first few years that I worked in radio.
As the years passed I smoked Camel Regulars, Camel Filters (sometimes True menthol) and finally Camel Light 99s (now Camel Blue 99s). I have smoked those since the 90's. I guess that I am partial to the Camel Turkish blend taste.
That's 35 years of smoking at about a pack and a half a day. Around here the weekly carton of Camel Blue 99s costs $42 apiece (w/tax).
I decided I wanted to be around for at least another 35 years and could use the money for other things, so I'm making the switch to vaping.
Thanks to several hours spent lurking ECF I learned enough about vaping and the equipment to make my first purchases. I started vaping five days ago. There are some cigarettes left from my last carton so I'm still smoking a few a day and vaping for several hours in between. I hope to make the transition to total non-smoking by the weekend.
Here's what I've got.
Smoktech E Power 14650. This stainless steel model came with the two protected Li-ion 14650 batteries, wall charger and 5 stainless LR 1.7 Resurrector cartomizers. I have used rechargeable protected Li-ion batteries with other types of equipment for several years, so I know how to use these. Purchased from Hoosier E Cig Supply.
E-juice. "Wow" Kamel from V4L. 18mg and 24mg in two 30ml bottles.
Box of five stainless Resurrector cartos. From Crystal Clear Vaping. The syringe for fast carto filling came with the box from CCV. I haven't used the syringe yet. Drip filling from the end works fine for now.
Straight stainless steel drip tip. Purchased from ecigsupply.com.
Glycerin USP. 6 Fl. Oz., or 177ml. For when I start buying higher strength nicotine juice for dilution at home. Purchased at a local CVS drug store.
So, here's to vaping. I'm traveling out of town for Thanksgiving tomorrow and will be packing the E Power and an extra filled carto and charged battery. Looking forward to posting on ECF!
