I need to get off of cigarettes. I'm 65 years old, smoking for 50 years. My company has cancelled their retiree group policy and sent all the retiree's to private exchanges. The problem is that under a group policy, you were not penalized for smoking. Now I may have to pay a higher rate.

I ordered the V2 Cigs starter kit. It's okay. You get some vapor and a mild hit. However, there is absolutely no flavor. Is this typical for those mass internet advertisers? I'm not upset, it cost less than a carton of cigarettes.

I also got a sample from E-Cigsbrand.Com. It has little vapor, but flavor.

Did I get a bad batch from V2 Cigs?

you might want to try one of these instead:

Kanger Evod Starter Kit

Kanger Mini Protank 2 Starter Kit -VV

Katana Kit

this can be refilled with the liquid of your choice (and there are soooooo many choices) and the heating coil unit/head can be replaced also.

for more vapor cloud the amount of VG (vegetable glycerin) can be increased in the liquids, and you can choose your own nicotine level.

these are easy to fill and maintain.

There are many options available and I'm sure other people will give you more great advise.

My particulars are almost the same as you and I started off buying the Itaste V3 and was glad I did. From browsing this forum, I soon found a good tank that suited my needs to top it off with and now I'm blowing clouds like an old hand. Not to say it's been a walk in the park, but get some good devices and keep going, it's really worth it to finally free yourself from cigarettes.

My experiences with the cig-a-likes have all been poor. either from weak flavor/vapor production or just plain bad taste. I am very happy I finally went with and EGO style kit to get me in the door for a better experience. You can find a decent ego style kit for less than a carton of smokes and there are many many flavors to choose from.

I can recommend the Evod Tanks and Mini Protank 2 very highly. There is a slight learning curve when going with the refillable's but they are worth it. Don't give up, find something that you like and it is very easy to stop smoking.

This! Welcome. I hope you find your vape. You've definitely come to the right place to learn :)

Ego kits are actually cheaper than some of the cig-a-like kits and work a lot better. If you want a cig-a-like (I know a LOT of people prefer something that looks like a cig, specially at the beginning) the blu cigs are pretty tasty and the charger pack makes them pretty convenient to carry around in your pocket and then charge it at the end of the day with your phone. I know a lot of people here hate them but I think it's more of a quality issue.

The bigger ego styles just work better and you can use juice from anywhere instead of being stuck with branded cartos. I actually got my wife started on egos because the clero would screw onto her blu, then she tried a 650mAh ego batt, I don't think the blus have been touched since. For the price a cheap ego kit should at least get a try with the cig-a-likes. My favorite blu flavor was the cherry, but now I won't go near one due to the lack of smoke and the way it pulls.

I started with V2, i'm still using one right now at the moment while I wait for my eGo/Protank and MVP. The V2's just don't cut it. I had to get V2's blank clearomizer just to be able to use a different, decent ejuice but the vapor production, battery life and capacity of their tanks leave A LOT to be desired.

I figure if your gonna do something, do it right. Get rid of those half-breed wanna be ecigs first chance you get.

I have Blu, I don't use it much because I use a Ego with a Vivi Nova, but I fill my own Blu cartridges with my own juice. Not hard at all, and there are videos on YouTube that will show you how. Cheaper, and taste better. The real only problem with Blu, is they aren't very strong of a hit and the battery doesn't last long. They are what they are.

Hi DDB!

I'm one of those that absolutely had to have a cig-a-like, which is the reason I am now a strong advocate against them if you can stand something different. I went through a "Blu" kit, a "SmokeTip" kit, a "Fin" kit, a "21st Century" kit, a "PureCigs" kit, a "V2" kit, and finally got smart and realized that I needed something better than a cig-a-like. If I could have gotten past that need, and bought a better setup earlier on, then I would have saved a LOT of money, time, and aggravation! Even then I was a too worried about moving up so I half stepped it, and went to a small 350mAh battery with a 1ml tank, ever so slightly larger than a cig-a-like. Next was a slightly larger setup and so on ...

Now I recommend EVOD kits as a good starter instead of the cig-a-likes, there is no real point to them, other than the psychological. Don't get me wrong, that is a large hurdle in many cases, and some folks even make it without ever stepping up to something better, but those aren't the people that come to ECF normally.

The bottom line is that your experience with the V2 kit is not unusual, and you should at least consider something a bit better. There are thousands of flavors to choose from that you won't find in "cig-a-like" kits.

Almost forgot, and the reason it is in red, Blu really are one of the crappiest kits out there. They suffer from serious quality control issues, the cartos don't last very long (even less than most others), and the batteries die quick (permanent death). They have one of the best "warranties" out there (on paper), but make it so hard to get new batteries that it almost isn't worth it!

Regardless of whatever you choose to go with, in the end if it keeps you from smoking then it was worth it.
