first foray into diy today.

I made my first diy purchase and attempts today!
I have nowhere near enough equipment!
I have some VG on hand to dilute high nic juices that I didn't use since I started dripping.
I also found out that a local cake shop sells Lorann flavors, so I went down there and bought some to give it a shot.
I made 2 simple attempst that so far I am unimpressed with, so far, I'll explain in a sec.
I'm hoping to get a recipe idea for the flavors I have.
SJ astro cloneish
7% apple ( not green apple though)
6% Strawberry
6% Peach
this recipe calls for tfa flavors usually, and GREEN APPLE, loranns apple is more like a red delicious I think. Totally changed the flavor profile, needs some sour or something.
SJ Andromeda clonish
8% Blueberry
3% pomogranite
4% Vanilla butternut (they didn't have Vanillin, or plain Vanilla)
This recipe also calls for tfa flavors. And calls for Vanillin not vanilla butternut. This liquid was all nuts.
I mixed up 10 ml of each, set them in my hot rice bag for a little bit and gave them a test. I also tested them, several hours later. The Andromeda clonish was still all nut, so I added another 2% Blueberry and 2% pomegranate. I'm sure the flavors will change with time.
Anyway, anyone have any pointers with Lorann flavors?
I got these flavors.
apple
peach
pomegranate
Blueberry
Bavarian Cream
vanilla butternut
Marshmallow
strawberry
I'm putting together my diy supplies, but for now this is what I got.

Anyone have any recipe recommendations based on those flavors?

Btw, I'm well aware that I didn't follow these recipes exactly, and Im not whining that they didn't turn out the same. The first one is pretty tasty and I think the 2nd will be too when it has a chance to calm down. I'm merely sharing, and interested in opinions and recipe ideas with what I already have. I'm very interested in trying anyone's ideas.

I've didn't care much for the couple of Lorann flavors I tried, so I can't help much on recipes. However, I would suggest making single flavor mixes to start out with. Start with small percentages and work up to what you think might work, then steep a little and test again. I know it's time consuming but I don't know any other way to build up your own knowledge of what suits you. Good luck and welcome to diy. :vapor:

Gosh it looks like you are off to a good start on your DIY adventure.

Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing. Be sure to keep really good notes. (I can't rely on my memory much any more)

Thanks, having lots of fun. Trying to get things rolling, but slowly. The amount of money I'm spending might change my relationship status... lol, no things are fine.
I think.

Aren't they all sold as food additives? I wasn't aware there even were any made specifically for vaping...

They all use food flavorings as bases, but most of the dedicated ejuice flavorings are stronger and generally free of oils and sugars/starches.

ETA: The exception would be some tobacco flavorings, which might be tobacco extracts, sometimes in combination with food flavorings.

Generally speaking, flavorings that are marketed for food products are not going to work as well as those sold specifically for eliquid.

I'm confused because I've seen very few flavor brands specifically for vaping.
More often in recipes I see TFA, CAP, & LA, which are all labeled for food products. With the most prominent exception I can think of being FA.
I do know that some of the LA flavors are considered unsafe, so I avoid those ones.
Is there a company you might suggest?
Perhaps I'm missing something, I'd be happy to have your input on a source for quality flavorings.

That's a better price than I got them for, but I'm hoping to learn a little before I place a big order. I made out a shopping list for Wizard Labs and it ended up being almost $300. So I'm taking some time to try and sort it into priority of purchase. I'm also working on compiling a list of recipes I'd like to try and rank them by how interested in them I am. So I can separate my orders by supplies needed for recipes 1-5 for example. Im working on my own recipes too, but I prefer to shamelessly borrow from others while I get things going, I think it helps give me direction.
