First igo-l rebuild....success!!!!

I am pretty happy with myself. My first attempt at any sort of rebuild was a success. As the title indicates I used a Igo-L that I received from FT. I used 32g Kanthal A-1 wire and did a 5 wrap around doubled over 2mm silica wick. This is the materials that PBusardo used in his review of the Igo-l. Figured that would be a good place to start for my first time.

After I got the coil wrapped and mounted (i really hate those screws) I tested the resistance with my multimeter. It read about 2.1 (with .2 subtracted due to natural resistance) so about 1.9. My multimeter also has a basic (i assume) continuity function so I tested that on the posts and it indicated no short. Then I got brave and slapped it onto my mvp. Dropped a few drops......vapor!!!! added some more drops and vaped away. Then I got really brave and put it onto my k100....half expecting the pits of Hell would open up as soon as I fired it. Nope....just good clean tasty vapor.

All in all it was a pleasant, if nerve wracking, experience for my first attempt, minus those tricksy screws on the post. The only thing that I am not a fan of, and this is arbitrary, is that if the juice splatters off the coil and gets on/in the air-hole in the cover, the thing can become awful whistley when taking a hit. Other than that, very happy with it.

Nice looking coil, glad you were finally able to build one, there is no turning back to BCC's now. Those finicky phillips screws are so much better than the allen wrench screws, bought a pack of 10 from Kidney Puncher to replace them in my cyclone and nimbus clones.

Just remember to line up that air hole with the coil and keep a vaper towel ready to wipe off the little blips of juice that come out of the air hole with over dripping

You may want to look into drilling out your air hole to 1/16, works much better for my style of vaping, i.e. long lung hits.

That's a nice looking first build. I went with the IGO-W for my first build.

Nice job. The factory coil on my FT IGO-L is almost done. Going to attempt my first rebuild soon.

Yeah, I didn't feel comfortable with the factory builds so I dissected them and played around with the bits until my wire/wick came (this morning). I didn't like the idea of rocking dual coil without having built one first. Paranoia.
