I've been lurking here for a while and I figured it's time to write up my first post. I figured I would share my experience thus far and hopefully it might help others who are just getting started.
I've been a pack a day smoker since I was 17. I actually quit back in 2009 but started up again back in January. I don't know why but quitting the second time around was even more of a challenge then the first time I quit. I tried everything and nothing was working.
That's until a buddy of mine introduced me to V2cigs.com and electronic cigarettes. My buddy was able to use V2cigs to successfully quit smoking analogs so I figured I would check it out. I ordered my kit back in August and instantly I was hooked. I went 4 days without an analog cigarette and decided to try one out just see how it felt and man was it awful.
The last analog cigarette I smoked was on August 9, 2012 and I haven't looked back since.
As I continued with V2cigs I started to really like the experience but something was missing. I wasn't getting the full satisfaction that I normally would get from a regular cigarette. Plus I was getting really tired of poly filled cartomizers. They went out to quickly and the burnt polyfill taste was getting old really quickly.
After doing some research I ordered the 808d Mini Tank Clearomizer and the I-Turbo II from Mountain Vapor. I was hoping to stick with the V2 batteries and find a way to replace polyfill cartos.
The 808d Mini tank Clearomizer's were just awful. They fit the V2cigs batteries just fine and were easy to fill. However I got the worst plastic taste from each vape.
The I-Turbo II actually worked pretty well on a V2 battery but they just look really awkward and something I wouldn't want to take out in public.
From there I jumped over to Smokeless Image and ordered two Volt Batteries and their X2 Clearomizers. They worked alright but frankly I wasn't impressed with the quality of the vape I was getting from the taste, throat hit, and vapor production. The X2 clearomizers actually fit V2 batteries as well but the I-Turbo II performed much better.
Then the Liquidmax V2cigs Cartos came in the mail and I had a chance to them out. Conceptually this is exactly what I was looking for. However, I wasn't impressed with the performance. It only holds 0.8ml of liquid and the quality of the vape is average. Plus the wicks are to short and they don't extend to the bottom of the carto. It was close but no cigar for what I was really looking for. The Liquidmax from V2 is definitely a beta product.
Finally after doing some research I found a local company in San Diego that I just fell in love with, vapure.com. I was introduced to the eGo battery line and learned about variable voltage batteries. I bought a eGo-S kit, two eGo Twist batteries, and a Lambo VV battery. Add to that a couple of Stardust like clearomizers and a 510 atomizer. I was completely amazed by the vaping experience that I had with these batteries and I've fallen in love with vaping all over again.
I went into this with the intent of using vaping to help me quit smoking altogether. However, I am so in love with vaping now I don't see myself quitting this experience anytime soon. Plus I'm really impressed with the community that has formed around this experience.
I hope this helps anyone else who is just getting started into vaping as well. I wish I could have saved some money from all of the trial and errors I've gone through. But I think that will all change now that I've found the setup I'm happy with.
