Long story but I was in Silicon Valley, California, and the co that I worked for went under, and I was visiting the Borders at McCarthy Ranch down the street from Cisco with great regularity in the evenings after applying for jobs like a mad man.

I came across a series of books devoted to martial artists and realized that two of the books were about famous martial artists in Stockton, California, so I bought the books, called 411, and was in contact with the schools within hours. I ended up living in the Renbukai Academy in Stockton where the Bahala Na were located.

They are one of the finest Filipino martial arts schools in the world, and I ended up becoming fast friends with many Filipino martial artists from around the country. There is a ton to this story but all that I can say is I'm lucky to have lost my job! :D

Don't mean to hijack your thread Brantley!

I lived in the Renbukai Martial Arts Studio where Bahala Na was located for around 6 months, as I traveled and studied martial arts 7 days a week within the Filipino community. There are many famous signatures from all over the world throughout the book. If you look I have Dan Inosanto's signature, who was graduate #1 of Bahala Na. Dan Inosanto was Bruce Lee's business partner in the school that they had in Southern California.
