First successful RDA build, but a couple questions

So I just built this. 30g kanthal, 5 wraps @ 1.1ohms, cotton wick running 6w on my MVP 2.0. It vapes GREAT, but I get a slight burning/cottony taste. I did dry burn the coil before wicking, too. Any help is much appreciated!

Congrats on your first build! I'm still relatively new at rebuilds myself, but from what I think I understand you should never dry burn cotton. If you are using cotton I would suggest changing it out with fresh cotton, add a few drops of juice to each coil, give it a fire and see if the burnt taste goes away.

It also looks like you might have used a little too much cotton (forgive me if I'm wrong in saying that. My eyes are failing me today). If so, cut back on the amount you're using. You should be able to pull your cotton through the coil with little effort.

I dry burned before I wicked it. I changed the juice that seems to be helping a bit I don't taste it as much.

Ah right, you did say you dry burned before wicking . Yep, my eyes are failing me. Glad the taste is getting to be more enjoyable for you.

Congrats on your new build!! I just did the same thing - first build on an RDA. I messed around with a few diff. configurations, but settled on 28ga Kanthal & did a dual coil 9/10 wrap for 0.8 Ohms.....it's vaping great! But I too noticed a slight burnt taste my first few hits. Not sure why, but it went away after a few hits. Maybe I didn't add enough juice at first? Not sure, but it's fine now....
