Okay here's my story. I saw the 21st Century brand e-cig in my local tobacco shop and figured, "what the heck". Long story short, awful. Then I found another brand called PureSmoke that alot of people said good things about, so I got that one. Again, just awful. So I did my homework and lurked this forum for a bit and it seemed like Vapor4Life had pretty good reviews, and a multitude of flavors and strengths. Aside from the hit and miss battery problems most people can't seem to say anything bad about them.

So Saturday night I ordered the Ultimate Ultimatum Manual Kit, and a couple packs of carts. Starting with the 555's, the Coffee Shop Sampler, and the tobacco Shop Sampler. I have read that the manuals are by far superior, so I went that route.

Anything I should know/do/try when I get it in? BTW I thought I read that Vapor4Life uses Fedex for shipping now, but it says mine is shipped via USPS?

Anyway, hello everyone! I am excited to cast analogs aside and become a full fledged vaper!

Congratulations on switching to vaping and welcome to ECF. I've heard of the Ultimate Ultimate starter kit and it sounds like it will have all of the hardware to keep you going for quite a while.

Did you happen to pick up extra bottles of juice, or are you going with the prefilled cartomizers? It's a good idea to pick up some juice to refill even if you don't think you'll want to right away. If for no other reason other than "in case of an emergency".

Welcome to ecf! This site is a wealth of knowledge.

The biggest advice I can give you right now is to remember to blow your atties out before using them. They usually come with a primer liquid that tastes horrid. I also advise you to try out all the options available. The poster above me asked about cartomizers. I definitely recommend you give them a try since they last a lot longer than carts usually do. Whether you are using carts or cartomizers, you will soon learn that it's much cheaper to refill your own rather than ordering the prefilled. I've heard good things about Vapor4Life's prefilleds so maybe it doesn't apply to them, but I've discovered that prefilleds can be rather lacking in the flavor department.

Wow, amazingly fast responses...Well to start with I got the cartomizers, just to get an idea of what flavors I like. Once I have the flavors I like pinned down I intend to just buy the liquid and refill, at least for the most part. I'm contemplating even getting a couple drip tips, but I'm not sure on that yet.

I read something about blowing out the atty, I'll need to go back and find how to go about that.

As far as what V4L sells, what's the suggestion between VG and PG? Alot of the reviews on the V4L website tend to make me think that their VG is not as good, but it seems like it should be the other way around...

btw Im going to this after being a pack a day smoker of home-rolled cigarettes for the last 9 years, so this isn't just better, its cleaner in every way for me. No loose tobacco on the countertops anymore! Yay!

So I recently ordered a kit from V4L, got it a couple days ago (took less than a week). I love it! I too started off with something I saw in my local smoke shop. i don't even know the brand. The prefilled carties are sort of tasteless or chemical tasting to me still but I am learning how to vape so that I get more flavor. Smaller, slower drag, exhale through the nose. Works great!
Questions the pros: Can the V4L prefilled carties be refilled? How? How many times? Also, how do I know when it is "done"?
Also, when not vaping for awhile, like overnight, do you store everything still connected or disconnect and cover the ends of the carties? Does it matter?
Thanks!!

WElcome to ECF Dalton!

I'm really proud of you for ordering lotsa samples- that's a great idea for when you are starting. Sometimes the flavors you think you love aren't what you end up loving! I'm vaping Hopscotch right now- a delicious butterscotch caramel juice.

Please ask us any questions you have and someone will be glad to offer some help.

Oohhh I didn't even see hopscotch. That sounds GREAT! I intend to order a few more samples, like the fruit flavors or the "candy" flavors...I'm kinda curious about the Doc Pepper flavor, since I am a Dr. Pepper drinker. I am VERY excited about vaping something flavored. The ones in the local smokeshop are from what I can tell nothing but PG and a little nic. No flavor at all. On top of all else that has been asked, I have one more question. When using a manual, at what exact point should I push the button, immediately before I start to take a drag?

btw I got mostly 555's cuz on the V4L website most of the reviews said that flavor was the most "realistic analog experience" which I think may help the transition for me.

@tinaj
Great minds think alike right? LOL And you are from Ar. Kinda cool being in a forum where everyone I talk to isn't on another continent...

Like others have said it is a good idea to get some juice for refilling your carts. As you may know from lurking here a while the quality of the carts seems to vary a lot; not only in terms of taste but in terms of how many puffs you get off of them. If you, like so many of us, believe the company line that one carto = one pack of smokes then it gets really easy to underestimate how many you'll need to have on hand. Ended up having to order juice to replenish my depleted cartos about 2 weeks before I had estimated I would because of this false notion.

Now that I've gotten my juice, however, the real cost saving seems to be coming in to place.

As to flavors: I have to say that as a menthol smoker none of the flavors really turned me on other than mint because it gives a pretty decent approximation of the th you get from a menthol; but then regular tobacco has always given me cotton mouth. The other thing I think is an advantage with menthol/mint juice is that the cartos can give off a burnt taste even when wet and otherwise working properly. I find mint or menthol covers this taste up pretty damn well.

Do you have any experience with the drip tips? I kinda like the idea of them. Myself I was never a menthol smoker, but Im experimenting with the flavors.

Another thing I find interesting about this forum is the modding scene. I am a geek at heart, and have already built a modified version of this: YAN9VUSBC so that I can use my usb passthrough any time.

Drip tips are mainly used with atomizers. Dripping is when you directly drip your liquid onto the bridge of the atomizer rather than fiddling around with cartridges and filler. It also tends to give much better flavor and vapor production.

I also use them with my cartomizers to make it easier to check and fill them. It's much easier than trying to pop out the white cap. It also puts a little extra space between the heat of the atomizer and your mouth. Cartomizers do tend to get pretty warm at times.

I always use a drip tip when I use cartomizers. I started using them mainly because I liked the way they looked. I discovered they have other advantages as well. First, like trouble mentioned, it makes it easier to refill the cartos since you don't have to mess with the endcap. It also makes it easier to tell when it's time to refill. Just pop off the drip tip....if the filler looks dry add a few more drops. Another advantage of the drip tip is it seems to help prevent getting juice in your mouth.

hi all, i was introduced to the e-cig concept a week ago by a friend and i just love it! as soon as i had the money in my bank to spare i ordered the Joye eGo starter kit online. I'm still a little confused about the hardware but im sure when i get my own to explore and use i'll figure it out pretty quickly. I've been busy reading forums and reviews and it's just making me even more excited to receive mine. i ordered a few juices also, just in sampler sizes until i figure out what i enjoy most. I have plenty of questions to be answered but i'll do some searches before putting them out there, as im sure most, if not all have been answered 100 times already. just thought i'd get the first post out there, can not wait to join the vape community.

LOL Okay Im actually a little confused how to use a drip tip with a cartomizer. I thought that the drip tip pretty much took the place of a cartridge...I imagine it will all become clear when I actually have the hardware in front of me.

There are actually a couple of ways to use a drip tip. If you use it with an atomizer, then it will replace the cartridge. To use it this way, you simply drip a few drops (2-3) of liquid directly onto the atomizer. Some folks leave the drip tip on and drip through it. I prefer to remove the drip tip first before dripping. It's easy to do and helps to prevent sucking juice into the mouth. This method of vaping is called dripping. Many people prefer this method because it allows you to experience the full flavor of the liquid. I personally only use this method when sampling new liquids. I find it can be messy at times and kind of a hassle since you have to keep a bottle of liquid nearby and have to frequently redrip. I've gotten around this whole mess by using a bottom feeder mod which allows me to get the flavor of dripping without having to actually drip. That's a whole other story though.

Cartomizers are one piece units which have the attomizer and filler all in one piece. This is what I prefer to use with my eGo. Drip tips are not necessary when you use a cartomizer. I prefer to use one anyway for the reasons stated in my previous post.

Okay people. I just got my kit from V4L this afternoon. Initial thoughts on it are, THIS THING IS AMAZING!!! I am using the usb passthrough since the batteries of course need their initial charge. So far I am just crazy about vanilla mocha frap. It's delicious.

BTW I love the manuals. I was worried, but I love the control it gives me.

They did not send me the cartomizers I chose to come in the kit, but thats okay. It actually worked out cuz the flavors they did send were good, and I wouldn't have tried them otherwise. The extra cartomizers I ordered were proper. So far, I am extremely satisfied.
