I just got e-cig today and I noticed that when I inhale, it causes a sharp pain in my throat and lungs. After a couple of inhales... I've noticed that my lungs actually kind of are uncomfortable. Almost as though I've smoked a lot of cigarettes on a drunken night.

Is there something I should be looking for or doing different to not experience this unpleasant feeling? I assumed the vapor would make things nice and smooth - but it's almost harsher than smoking for some reason.

Nothing tastes burnt, btw... just like Blueberry's... :)

2 things come to mind... throat hit (TH) and PG (juice base) sensitivity. There are people with PG allergies and PG in general is an irritant. Nic strength (mg) can also add to the whole affect.

Try a PG/VG mix at a lower nic level. I was Marb light smoker and went to 18mg/PG and had no problem. I then tried some Vapor Viking Hickory PG/VG mix at 18mg and almost coughed out a lung....major TH so there are juices that can do it to/for you.

Find a sampler pack that gives you some flavors/strength/mix options and see how that works for you. Assuming your juice is already 100% PG, you could dilute a bit with some straight VG to see if that helps but it will dilute the flavor as well.

I get the ache in the chest when I use pure PG liquid. A 3/4 VG to 1/4 PG mix, I can get away with.
I'd try VG and then if you find it just isn't the same as PG try adding a little PG at a time and see how you tolerate it.

It could be the flavoring too. I can't do menthol Chrystal---real tight chest and little sores inside the mouth. Bad thing is, I smoked menthol cigarettes and loved them.

I also got the cold like symptoms for the first week or two of vaping.

The first couple of liquids I got were of the 100%PG 24 or 26mg Dekang variety. Big mistake. They were very harsh and made my throat irritable and scratchy, but I wouldn't really describe it as a pain. After the first few puffs I realized that I couldn't handle taking the vapor into my throat, much less my lungs, so I didn't even try, I resorted to just puffing on my PV, TH be damned. I researched some USA PG/VG mixed juices and ordered them a day or two later. I started with 80% and then went to 70%PG and both of those ratios were fine. I would also mix the 100%PG juices with some of the PG/VG mix USA juices to make them tolerable, both in terms of harshness and flavor. However, after vaping for a little while I found that I had gotten much more accustomed to it and now I can vape and inhale even the original 100%PG Dekang stuff into my throat and lungs where I wasn't able to at the beginning.
