So I just received my first GPlat 24G in the mail and I started doing a build on it just now. I am using RJMOD Cats RDA as well as RJMOD Zodiac Mod with a fresh VTC5 Sony battery. (Literally right off the charger). 7 wraps quad coil on 2.4MM screwdriver or 3/32, sleeper coil build. read out to .25 Ohms. when i fired it, immediately the mod grew hot as well as everything else. The battery though, was still room temperature as in not hot, if that makes any sense. It's been about 10 mins now and the mod is still a little hot. im able to hold it but its extremely warm in my hand.

Now the problem that doesnt make sense is I normally use 28G Kanthal with this RDA/Mod and take a 1.4MM screwdriver (micro coils) and do the same build, quad coil sleeper coil build, only difference is i do about 5-6 wraps instead of 7 with the Gplat 24G. the ohms read out to .21-.22 on this build and yet no matter how much juice my battery has when i fire it, the mod has NEVER gone hot on me. this is the first time with this gplat so i really need help. Please help me out with this. Thank you.

Well, I don't own a mech, but I've learned some (hopefully accurate) things hanging around the forums.

It seems like your mod now has resistance comparable to your atomizer; I don't know of any other reason why your mod would heat up. That usually points to something that needs cleaned; threads, switches, contacts, something.

I imagine if you put any other atomizer of a comparable resistance on the mod, you would experience similar heat issues; there's no reason coil composition should affect what you're experiencing, only the net resistance.

It becomes more pronounced as your builds get lower and lower in resistance, and < 0.3 ohms is pretty darn low.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come around!

ETA: also, I hear it's generally considered a good idea to give a battery an hour or so to "chill out" after coming off the charger.

Okay, so about the hour for the battery i gave it that and it was still heating up the mod. So then I took it and placed it onto my new 24k v3 Flip i got not too long ago and it was not heating up. So you were definitely right so thank you so much for that lol. I clean my threads out every week. I never cleaned the contact so i'll definitely do that now. I took the GPlat out and rebuilt a quick quad with the 28g kanthal i had now. so im just gonna still use the kanthal, especially since it was my first time dealing with Gplat AND 24G so my fingers feel like i been playing the guitar for a month straight lol. but im just gonna wait until i get my plumeveil 1.5 and then ill really start using gplat. Thanks so much!
