No, it is normal. Have to keep tension on the wire to do it properly, a Kuro or Coilmaster Jig helps, myself I use a vice grip at the end I wrap with, and keep tension snug when wrapping, the vice grip gives me a good handle to keep tension with. Pre-torching using two vice grips and allowing gravity to work for you with one vice grip free-hanging helps anneal the wire for wrapping and straighten out kinks to assist that wrapping is uniform. After mounting the coil, pulsing the coils hot then compressing the coil also helps getting those spaces out when wrapping a contact tension nano, micro, macro coil.

Spacing in the wire if done right can work as well, my Ni200 builds I use a machinist #14 screw wrap those on, give even uniform spacing.

Many methods, a lot of techniques.

Looks like I'm going to have to get a Coiler. If there's a slight gap, if I put in to the Atty and heat and squeeze it will it come together? I only have 1 Atty and the coil on there was built by the shop so I don't want to mess with it unless I have to change it.
You do not really have to squeeze them. Many people, me included, like spaced coils - coils with gaps. In many ways they are better than tight coils. Actually, it's a matter of individual preferences. I never torch my wire, I do not even try to make tight coils.

Check out the coil demonstration in my signature line.
Wow I like that. Makes it Ez Pz Lemon Squeezey!!

Naw, thats where the juice comes through.

Seriously, I get them pretty good by using some clamping tweezers and putting the torch on them before I mount them, but I try not to get too .... about it, less the juice cant come through, :?)
I'm just worried gaps will cause juice to pop... Does it?

I guess I will have to test it out when my RDA comes!

Also, thank you all for your replies! Really helps out a newbie like me.

I see on youtube and they seem to all be nice and tidy, even the one I got done by the store was very nice and neat

Hi Simon,

Popping, to me, seems to be a combination of how much wick you have in the coil, and maybe a little more importantly, how close the coil is to the air inlet. So its really a balancing acts between these two variables. You should get the coils fairly close to the inlet, this cools them down, and just the right amount of wick helps keep them cool while they are saturated, and this does a good job of containing popping somewhat, depending on what your coil is running. Once you get below .2 or so, you will have popping regardless. I tend to like the popping quit a bit, so I run a little more wick through the coil, but since its Muji cotton, it does`nt suffer if a little extra is put in there.

It`ll take some time for you to figure all of this out, but it really is a personal learning curve you have to go through. You can get allot of tips and such here, but in the end, you have to get an idea of what works for you, as there are a gazillion ways to coil and wick a good vape.

BOL.

I see, It took me 2 hours to rebuild my first set of coils. 24G Nichrome, I tried Dual Parallel Wires, my Deck is too small. Tried Twisted, the Resistance was too low. Ended up doing 7Wraps around a 2.4MM and it's at .22Ohms .
