HEy all, new here, just got through my first week pure vaping, getting the right strength liquid was a nightmare, wasted so much mixing it up but I think I've almost cracked it thanks to a litre bottle of PG.

The main problem I've had is the basic design of the standard e-cigs, it seems to me a bit stupid to be sucking on a mouthpiece full of poison relying on the wicking properties of the filler to protect you from swallowing too much, and if what I've read here in regards to lower nicotine absorbtion through vapour is correct then it'd seem that peoples ODing is related to this flaw.

Are there any PV's that have been designed to address this? i.e. with separate juice compartments.

If you're refilling correctly and your hardware is working properly, you're not relying on this. If you're getting juice in your mouth, you're doing something wrong. Either overfilling, or your atty is clogged/dying/dead, your mouthpiece/cart needs to be cleaned, or you need new filler. Also, I've gotten plenty of juice in my mouth, on my hands, on my clothes. It's not a "mouthpiece of poison". You'll be fine. Since you're new, I'm gonna guess there's user error involved here.

Granted, mouthpiece of poison is a touch dramatic, but do you find yourself getting headaches after getting juice in your mouth? A simple kink in the mouthpiece would seem to make sense.

Nope. The only time I get headaches is if I vape constantly for a loooonnnnggg time. This usually emanates from my jaw muscles though and I attribute it to the workout those muscles are getting from drawing through a slightly clogged/old atty. It never happens with new attys, and it doesn't feel like a nicotine headache which I've had from dip before and would be more internal. I think a lot of people are making this mistake. Nausea comes on way before the headache with nicotine... at least for me. And no, I don't get nauseous from vaping either. The most I ever get is a tingly buzz not unlike caffeine provides, but not as jittery.

Could be that because they are from the temples, much like stress headaches. Did you notice any withdrawals from tobacco when you first switched?

Not really as I had nearly quit for about a year, but would still always smoke when I was drinking. I just couldn't break that. I'd smoke a pack in a night drinking, then go 4-5 days without a single one (I used Chantix). Then I'd find that I wouldn't take Chantix if I was going to go out drinking, because I would want the nicotine to work when I was smoking. I was slowly sliding back into becoming a full-on smoker again when I discovered PV's. Great timing. I like it so much though, I use it all the time. I find it helps with me focus during the day (I have ADD) and relax at night. Also, I just love the flavors. I can't stand to smoke an analog anymore. Taste awful.

what model are you using, I know on the 501 the liquid can't be sucked straight up through the mouthpiece (try it take the mouth piece and suck) the cart had a central cylinder with the wick in it, and an outer cylinder which the vapour travels up, so the only reason to get liquid in your mouth is if the liquid in is the atty and you are sucking it up from there.

The carts on the 510 and the 901 are chambered with a baffle that is designed to prevent the juice from being sucked into your mouth. The most common causes of a mouth full of juice are an overfilled cart, flooded atty (these pretty much go together) and a weak battery. Blow out your atty, dab the puddle of juice on you cart filler with a paper towel and make sure you screw on a fully charger battery. However dripping, as stated above without filler, will eliminate two of the three causes.

Happy vaping :D

All this talk of sucking - when I talk to people about it I always refer to it being more like drawing on it rather than sucking...to me, it's more like drawing from a traditional pipe. I draw slow and steady and get a much better throat hit that way. When I have to start drawing harder to get a good hit, I know it's time to change the battery.

Sounds good, I'm on the 901 so that isn't the case, I'd guess that the central cylinder would also aid wicking as you're creating suction towards the atty rather than away.

I use 901 flat tip carts on my 510. The basic design concept is the same. For some reason you get more flavor and an easier draw with the 901 tips, though some people (not me) complain of getting more juice in their mouths with them.

uh, you're turning this liquid into a vapor and sucking it into your lungs to absorb, some of it is going to condense into a liquid all along the way - in your cartridge, in your mouth, in your lungs.. and your lungs absorb things directly into the blood stream (that's the whole point)

yet for some reason people are so afraid to get a little in their mouth, this is really quite puzzling to me

then it'd seem that peoples ODing is related to this flaw.

Note: having more than you are used to is not the same as overdosing.

Are there any PV's that have been designed to address this? i.e. with separate juice compartments.

If you're trying to inhale the vapor off the atomizer, no matter what the setup is, you could still be getting the juice in your mouth because the juice has to drip to the atomizer.

I can't personally think of other options, though maybe someone else has.

So overdose doesn't mean taking more than the intended dose? I'm new here, so what is the definition when used in relation to e-smoking?

Taking more than is safe is overdosing, imho.

Taking a little more than you intended, again imho, is not the same as taking more than is safe. I know its semantics, but perception is an issue (again.... my opinion).

I'm new also - got my Joye 510 today.

Question is, how do I stop puffing on the thing? There's nothing telling me I'm done smoking (the cig doesn't end). I plan on stopping analog cigs altogether tomorrow. Any tips would be great.

I treat it like you would a smoke. It took a few minutes for me to have a cigarette, I had one when I felt like I wanted one. So, I use mine when I feel like I want one, and stop after a few minutes.
