Finally somebody believes me! Walking is better barefoot! Of course that's in a perfect world with no sandspurs, glass, rocks ect. I walk in those ballerina slippers, soft satin like sides with a rubber bottom..deerforms/Isotoner? That last a few months then I need more. I wouldn't need to "break in" these shoes. Plus the very idea of of breaking in shoes is just dumb..why don't they fit in the first place?

I'd have to paint the toenails some bright color....

but i prefer flip flops too- then i can just have my own toenails in bright colors.

I love my vibrams. I wore them when we went to Italy and they were worth every penny spent on them. No fatigue in the legs at the end of the day. No blisters. Toes are rubber at the end so if you stub your toe you are still good to go. No knee pain no back pain. Great for miles and miles of walking. I wore regular tennis shoes one day on our trip and I had back pain, knee pain and huge blisters and a very sore ankle from being hit on the back of the leg from a crazy vespa driver. Did I mention that the vibrams are worth every penny and no pain.

Yeah they were a little funky to get used to, feels weird to have things between your toes. But after the second day of wearing them you forget. And sometimes we have funky shaped toes like the pinky that curls or they all curl. But I now have straight toes again so that's got to be a good thing. And since they aren't the most popular shoe people come up and ask questions and if you are smoking an ecig while wearing them then the questions really fly. Makes for interesting conversations with strangers. And the number one question is how do you stand it between your toes. lol.

I tried on a pair of the Fila Skeletoes, and didn't mind them at all (and I can't even wear flipflops because of the whole between the toes thing). Skelatoes are about half the price of the Vibrams. They didn't have my size though...so I had to pass them up.

The Vibrams- I had a tough time getting into them, and passed because for $100 I really needed to LOVE them.

I almost never wear shoes.

Let me explain. 8 months a year I wear snow boots outside and nothing or warm socks inside. The few glorious months of no snow I am barefoot every single chance I get. I only begrudgingly wear sandals where mandated by law. (The only month it hasn't snowed in historically is July.)

A long time ago, in my youth, I spent a year backpacking from the middle east, through a bit of North Africa, around the Med, then up through Europe to Holland. All with no shoes. My calluses WERE shoes! I walked though broken glass, melting tar, and gravel. I could put out my ciggys on my feet. I wore DIY foot-thongs when I had to fake wearing shoes.

Ah. Those were the days.

PS. I still baby my calluses ;)
