Well I'm happy to amuse you.. just returning the favor. I've had quite the chuckle over some of your comments as well. Actually, a lot of people have. :)
__________

Clearly you are not a conscientious spender, but I for one am not a big fan of GREED and I will not support it if I can avoid it. So considering I have plenty of options, I would rather give my dollars to the smaller, independent artisan crafters who wouldn't even dream to be so arrogant as to send me an invitation of "eligibility" to purchase, as if I'm a special human being to have the honor of buying his juice at $1 per ml. No, I like the way other ejuice makers are doing it better.. hand written thank you notes and samples.

It's funny you get so bent out of shape over something you don't even vape. Have you even tried it? I would like to see your receipt if you have.

See here's the thing... Free juice always tastes good, don't it?

decided to go back and read the whole thread...

please don't compare fine spirits with e-juice
it's a completely different ballgame

This is probably the most incorrect statement that could be made regarding Castle Long Reserve...

In fact, it's the only comparison that works.

That's more than double most others prices.

Thanks, Capatin Obvious

I don't really want to hang around this thread too much, because I know I will get aggravated and don't want to argue about this liquid, but wanted to share my experience for others who may happen upon this thread.

I posted this in another thread... but I figured it deserved a spot here...

---

After vaping literally thousands of ml of various liquids, I had begun to think that there was a limit to eJuice... That I had tried everything new and would hence forth only get variations of the same few things I like.

I had wondered if it was possible for someone to make something that was on that next level... Castle Long, is that juice I think.

Here's the thing...

  • I had actually never heard of Five Pawns. I don't frequent this corner of ECF and get my premium juices at my local brick and mortars... which (as I found out yesterday) don't carry 5p due to proximity to their own retail store.
  • I just stumbled upon their brick and mortar location in Irvine, CA (happens to be next store to my friend's chiropractic office, which I hadn't been to in months)
  • I was up front with them that I didn't want to try any juices, that I "wasn't buying anything today". I just wanted to find out about them, since I had never heard of them and just noticed the shop as I walked by
  • The rep I dealt with was friendly and insisted that I sit down and try it. We chatted while I sampled juices, he was knowledgeable about his product and also about the community. I enjoyed the experience
  • I tried every flavor, In both drippers and tanks, even tried the Castle Long on a Kayfun.
  • In all cases, I did not ask the price until AFTER I had tasted it. I have found with boutique juices, that's the best method... judge the flavor without any sticker shock.

And when I was told the price, I won't lie, I found it high. But not ridiculous for the quality.

I'm sold on it being worth the price, simply for it's uniqueness.

Now I'm sitting here vaping Gambit... with a bottle of Castle Long Reserve at home, waiting for that special occasion to enjoy that special juice.

So now we only support businesses who are owned by nice people? What is this, kindergarten?! I'll give you my money if you say "please?" Too funny.

In some cases, yes. There's a hardware store I refuse to go into because A.) Because I'm female they treated me like I'm clueless in the trades, and B.) They were sitting behind a desk far behind the counter and did not get up to speak to me.

As for 5 pawns, I don't see myself purchasing any. I'm satisfied with what I'm using and I'm cheap. I'd rather spend money on quality non-consumables such as top-notch leather products that will last for years for my show horses.

JV: $23 (shipped) for a 33 mL :)facepalm:)
Halo: $24.50 (shipped) for a 30 mL (love P15, period! Is Johnny Blaze a nice guy? Who the hell cares?!)
5P: $27.50 (shipped) for a 30 mL (Gambit, specifically, is freakin' tasty! But I can live without it.)

Halo and JV have been around for years (among many other eliquid vendors with similar pricing for $ per mL), but now the addition of a few bucks is so earth shatteringly exorbitant? Honestly, people, there is NOTHING to argue here, unless you just want to argue. 5P is a liquid vendor as is every other liquid vendor. Oh, and B&M prices for 30 mL are often double what we're used to paying online.

If you choose to buy pre-made liquid, and to not DIY, you're supporting the same machine whether you intend to or not. And it's okay.

BTW, Pink Spot Vapors has been around for a couple years and their 30 mL is $28.50 (shipped) and they come in cheap LDPE bottles, with inkjet printed labels, and, well, less than "special" flavors (though, Honey Cured is my liquid! LOL). Why no pitchforks and torches? Maybe because who people think they're mad at is driven by who they think they should be mad at. THERE IS NOTHING NEW HAPPENING AT 5 PAWNS, except, maybe, their flavors. Get over it. Get under it. Get next to it. Get with it. Pick one. And you if plan on vaping pre-made liquids for awhile, get used to it! That price "bar" was "set" a long time ago.

This is an interesting point to me. 5Pawns are near the top of price per ml for online juices (probably more in the middle for B&M juices), but they share that spot with a LOT of other vendors who people don't seem to have an issue with. They are certainly not the first or only online juice vendor at this price point. Halo has been around for a long time, they have always been one of the more expensive vendors but people have been fine with them. Halo is one of my favorite vendors since they offer products no one else does, and I don't mind paying a little more for that.

So why the backlash with 5P in particular? Did this one juice they offer that is more expensive then the rest they offer, because it's aged in an oak barrel, break the camel's back? They are not the first to do that either; HouseofLiquids has offered one of their already spendy juices at a higher price because they age it in a barrel, and now they have a whole line of juices like that. Haven't seen a backlash with them.

Maybe there's something going on that I'm not seeing, but I don't understand the issue of hating on a vendor just because they offer juices at the upper end of the price spectrum, especially when many other vendors have been doing it for years. Having the pricier vendors has only added more options, the cheaper vendors haven't gone away or raised their price in response. I'm not mad at Lamborghini for making cars out of my price range, and 5P isn't near that level of price difference with juices, they are Camaro at best.

Ridiculous! People actually buy this stuff?

Yep. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and a worth while purchase is in the wallet of the buyer. Hell, I can't believe that some people spend $1,500 in in under a month on hardware, but, ahem, some apparently do (though I would never call them "ridiculous"). ;)

It's not ignorance. Perhaps you haven't done the research that others have taken the time to perform. That's okay, you're entitled to your opinion. I will add my opinion as;
#5 I have not tried it, and will not due to the arrogance by the owner.

Dude, (or dudette), I wasn't trying to attack you, or anyone in particular. And I never called anyone ignorant. I said it makes you SOUND ignorant. There is a difference. But if you took offense, I apologize. No offense was intended.

That guy must have been a real {MODERATED}

Unfortunately so. By the way, I'm a dude. My most purchased juices are MM and AVE, so I'm not against buying higher end juices, though AVE has become very reasonable after taking a no coupon policy. I am a pretty nice fella, but the ridiculousness of some of these e-cig vendors is appalling. I have a list of vendors I avoid, because they're to "nice."
