The other day, I posted a review of a few flavors from Ahlusion with a question of "Is Ahlusion worth it..." This question can really extend to some of the more expensive boutique juice vendors: are their juices worth it at their prices?
In my opinion, artisan or boutique juices being worth it has a yes and no answer from this vaper: yes if the juice is tasty and the vaper enjoys it and no if the vaper doesn't enjoy it. Of course, I'm teetering with an answer here.
FivePaws has an interesting philosophy with their online shop. They want to have the same price online as their B&M, and this makes sense for a vendor who doesn't want to be in competition with themselves. So, their 30ml bottles do come with a price tag of $27.50, and that's a chunk of change to cough up for a bottle of juice. So, in my opinion, this had better be some really, really good juice to get my $27.50.
I had ordered a sampler pack (of all five flavors) a while back and discovered that I fell in love with their queenside, a nice concoction of blood orange and french vanilla ice cream. After my sampler of queenside was gone, I started to think about the flavor at random times. Time to pony up the $27.50 for a big bottle.
Here's what I like about the juice itself:
- Nice balance of sweet and acid (from the citrus), so the vape has good orange to start, hitting the taste buds with acid and finishes smooth with the creamy vanilla. It's rich yet refreshing. It's strong in flavor without being too heavy. Balanced all around. It's not as complex as their other flavors, but it's the one I enjoy the most.
- It's got a beautiful orange color that looks awesome in a Protank or clear DCT.
- The rough 50/50 vg/pg mix gives it some decent vapor production.
- The vape has some TH at the start with the pg and the orange, and the finish is smooth from the vg and creaminess of the vanilla.
Here's what I like about FivePawns in general:
- Both times that I've ordered, I got free shipping. I'm not sure if this is standard practice, but I didn't need a coupon code. Both orders have gotten to me nice and quick (from CA to GA).
- Both times I've ordered (the sampler pack and the big bottle), they arrived pre-steeped. My big bottle of queenside that arrived is about a month old, so it's ready to vape.
- Their packaging is also a nice touch. The sampler comes in a cute cylinder that I now use to hold my catnip for my cat, and the big bottle comes in something similar, and I'll have to find something fun to do with this one.
- The sampler pack comes in little, glass dropper bottles that will be great to reuse with transporting a small amount of juice.
- The big bottle also comes in a glass dropper bottle, which will come in handy as I get deeper into DIY mixing.
- FivePawns seems to care about their customers. I had a little note of thanks handwritten on both invoices. It's not much, but a nice touch for sure.
What I don't like about FivePawns:
- I can't choose my ratio of vg/pg.
- There's no option for extra flavor added. It is what it is (you can, of course, choose the nic level).
- They only have five flavors right now. Rumor has it there are more on the way.
To try and answer my opening question, I know a juice that is almost a dollar per ml is bit pricey, but for me, this isn't going to be an every day all day juice. I just simply can't afford that, but I can afford this to have around for a nice dessert vape or special occasion juice. I travel most weekends, and loading up a weekender DCT with this can definitely help me look forward to my days on the road. My goal, here, is to provide some insight on my experience with FivePawns. Feel free to reply with comments, criticisms, bad jokes, good jokes, etc, etc.
As always, happy vaping!
