I’ve had a Vamo V5 for a while now, and think it is a great value. It has its weaknesses, of course. Two of those are a non-floating 510 pin, and a board that can’t always make contact with flat top batteries. I fixed both of these issues on mine by installing a varitube 510 connector (homemade adaptor) and shimming the board so that its positive contact stays below the battery stop ring. Should have taken before pics, but here is the finished product.

oops, pic post doesn't seem to be working at the moment. will try again.

This is how it should be these days; not sure why the top cap was not upgraded for the V6..... :2c:

I'm guessing cost. The Vamo is pretty much the king of low cost APV's. But being that there are so many out there, I am surprised that nobody is selling an "upgrade kit.
I'm not a machinist, but I do have access to a lathe, so was able to make the adapter for myself. I'll post the pitiful sketch of dimensions just in case it helps someone else. The "B" dimension is wrong, had to go bigger to clear the nut. If I had had a 10x0.5 tap, it would have been easier, and a little more compact. As it is, it's shorter, but not a lot.
