House seeks regulation of vape shops amid ‘epidemic’

The House Health Market Reform Subcommittee on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved the measure (PCB HMR 20-04), despite the objections of the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association. A group representing vape shops, however, supported the legislation.

The move to regulate vape shops comes less than a month after a federal law raising the age to purchase e-cigarettes from 18 to 21 went into effect. The effort coincides with other federal attempts to curb minors’ use of electronic cigarettes, produced by companies such as juul.

But committee Chairman Cary Pigman, a physician, said he was “absolutely shocked” that the representatives of the health-care organizations would attempt to “impede” Toledo’s measure.

These "healthcare" organizations are so divorced from science, and so far out in left field, they're losing their credibility in the medical and public health spheres. Perhaps they should to read the writing on the wall and rethink their "quit or die" ethos.

I have to wonder if most of the doctors are just parroting the "safe" line concerning vape as it has become a favorite past time in this country to sue and malpractice would be a serious hit to a doctor. They are "experts" in a legal definition and while in the office, any recommendation could be considered medical advice.

Thank goodness a few are willing to step up and recognize the obvious and simple fact that vaping is a huge harm reduction from cigarettes.
