My first post - but I've been vaping for 1.5 years now. 20 year former smoker.

As I've begun to mix my own juice I've been reading lots of threads, naturally. One thing that struck me as odd is this quest for flavor. I've been mostly disappointed in flavor, with the exception of NJOY "classic tobacco." I figured out that I'm mostly looking for something non-offensive and I've think I've found it with Hangsen RY1.

Anyway, enough with the background. My point: If vapors love flavor so much why not just stick a jolly rancher or some other hard candy in your mouth? Why spend hundreds or thousands of dollars and vape gallons of pv/vg if you're just looking for that flavor nirvana? I guess I'm confused by the cloud chasers who say they do it for flavor - jesus, just suck on a hard candy. We are addicts. We love the nicotine. I understand looking for a tobacco workalike because we did it for 20 years and it's a habit, but the quest for supreme peach? Just buy some huge bag of candy from costco and have at it and vape some 36mg unflavored diy juice on a carto. I'm considering it.

I don't know, maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm watching too many youtube videos made by guys who run juice companies who gets free equipment boasting about flavor and clouds.

I love nictotine. Thank you for listening.

I understand where your coming from to a point. I always tell my friends who vape that are flavor fanatics that if I didn't mind spending the money I would just vape Boba's Bounty (my favorite tobbaco) 24/7. But I mix my own, way cheaper. I vape for the nicotine first and for most, flavor for me is an afterthought. But as I type this I'm vapeing a fruit mix, I like it! Vapeing does offer you a variety of flavors, an endless variety, yet another perk of making the switch. So why not take advantage? You still get your nicotine fix, with a flavor you enjoy. Either way, whatever keeps you off analogs. :thumb:

Flavor is goood. A jolly rancher has sugar in it.

I love nicotine too, and if they had apple flavored cigarettes,, I would have bought them when I smoked

u can love nicotine and love the flavor.

I also had the same thought, to add to what I already said, if they offered Strawberry Cupcake flavor when I smoked I would have grabbed that!

When I started DIY in the fall of 2013, I bought all kinds of flavors but quickly learned fruits/desserts/sweets weren't for me. I had at least 50 pre-mix bottles on hand of the same when I got into DIY. My early mixes were fine but I kept getting tired of them.

Once I discovered Hangsen tobaccos I never looked back. I vape them almost exclusively and can vape the same flavor for multiple days in a row. We're all as unique as a fingerprint when it comes to taste. I totally get why folks love fruits and desserts and such. I still vape them once in a while but they become cloying to me after a short period.

The one thing that is brilliant about Hangsen tobaccos is they are idiot proof. You can mix almost every single flavor in the 5-7% range and have a tasty mix without being a scientist. If you like RY1, I definitely recommend trying more. Desert Ship and Highway are excellent with limited sweetness. Slightly sweet and smooth flavors like Flue Cured, Deluxe, and #5 are always on my shelf. Indian and Turkish both have nice earthy and "woody" notes to them. I've basically been vaping the same 5 flavors for almost a year and may never get tired of them.

DIY is pretty awesome. I mix my flavors 120mls at a time so I have over 6 months on hand at all times. I only have to mix once every 3 months or so. Kept in glass in the dark, they stay perfectly tasty for a year no problem.

Once every 5 years I bought a pack of clove smokes. That was enough for me. Don't get me wrong - flavor nirvana sounds great on paper - I just haven't found it. I guess I'm just old fashioned, looking for something to go with my coffee and coca cola. And my beer. And wine. Strawberry cupcake is not it.

Please don't misunderstand me, I just don't get it. And I'm also a little miffed about the prices of these juices. DIY literally costs under a buck for 30mls. "Hand crafted, premium" - whatever. Tastes like perfume. New vapers beware: it's a costly road to go down.

Most people years back when there was no way to quit BUT the "cold turkey" method made sure they had a ready supply of gum and hard candy. Most people gained weight and began seeing the dentist frequently. One you could combat by upping your physical exercise by jogging. The other you just saved the money from not smoking by making a "Dentures" savings account. Vaping flavors solves so many problems.

Probably people (like me) prefer something other than tobacco flavor for the same reason that some prefer a flavoring in their coffee, rather than straight black. I've yet to find a tobacco flavored e-juice that I like well enough to stick with it. After about two or three days, the tobacco flavored juices start tasting awful, and I regret having purchased them. I've never been interested in the fruit or candy flavored juices. I have two that have become my favorites that I alternate between. One is a blend of coffee, chocolate and hazelnut. The other is a blend of chocolate, caramel and pecan. Reminds me of a chocolate turtle. Both are from VaporFi. I won't buy their hardware (their mark-up is absurdly high), but their selection and price on e-juices is pretty good.

I understand people have preferences. But flavored coffee isn't really a big business. Flavored tobacco wasn't either - not sure if that was because it was outlawed or not? Most people like plain coffee. Most people like plain tobacco. What turns your average vapor into a flavor aficionado willing to spend 20x the amount it takes to make a juice? Or to drop their nic level to suck insane amount of vg and blow clouds on youtube talking about the flavor?

Well at least it feels good to know that I'm not alone and crazy, thanks guys :) I'm going to put a little DIY Hangsen Turkish in an iclear16, put it on an unregulated kgo battery, and have fantastic vape. So simple, and so good.

Vaping is an alternative to smoking for many people. But there is also the group of hobbiests who do it to create the bed flavors and share them so that other people may too. If you love nicotene but u love flavor too why not smoke em both and enjoy it ! Its a balance of both the nicotens and the flavor. Some people just like to smoke Welcome to the forums

Well, first off, I'm going to vape regardless of the flavor. I don't vape for the flavor or to blow large clouds, I vape to replace smoking tobacco with a less harmful option. The difference between vaping flavored vs unflavored juice is just a few dollars, not hundreds or thousands.

Second, have you ever tried to find a vanilla custard jolly rancher?

It's true that most people vape for the nicotine, but why not make it more enjoyable? Vaping enthusiasts rave about flavors and clouds because, for one, it distracts from the negatives of vaping and places it in a positive light, and two, big clouds are awesome and their ARE truly great flavors out there. If you don't like the artificial taste of PG bases, try going for a higher VG/PG ratio, there are even companies out there now who use only natural flavor extracts.

I think it depends a lot on what you're using an E-Cig for. I'm one of the people who get a lot of random looks because I only vape flavors (No Nic for me!). I used to smoke years ago and while I wasn't a very heavy smoker -- I really enjoyed the action. It became like a stress relief. I ended up quitting because I didn't like the effects and because of pressure from people who knew me. Vaping has been a way for me to get the fun of smoking again but without all the negative issues. It was really hard for me to get off of the Nic, so when I started to talk about wanting to vape, my hubby was adamant about me staying off of the Nic since I have overcome it in my past.

As for why a hard candy isn't a substitute . . . . It just isn't. It's much more fun to explore the different flavors and be able to puff out clouds. It's closer to smoking than anything else I have ever found and I still get stress relief (And I don't know why that is, i'm guessing a combination of deep breathing and the almost aromatherapy ish clouds you put out . . ? ) Plus, everyone who had an issue with the smoking -- has zero with the vaping. My mom (who has asthma) has tried it and lets me do it in her home with zero issues, and my super conservative don't do anything bad for you hubby (Who I luv, he's just not the adventurous type) even does it with me.

I think some people misunderstood me. I don't suggest that hard candy's can be a substitute for smoking or vaping. I simply wondered if it can be a substitute for flavored vapes. Why not suck on a Werther's original if you want a caramel vape? It's going to be better flavor, and much cheaper. I mean, orders of magnitude more flavor, and orders of magnitude much cheaper than "gourmet" ejuice.

Seriously, stick a Werther's candy in your mouth and vape unflavored DIY juice. I could start a youtube channel on it doing reviews of different candy. Maybe get a little debbie cake and vape while I eat.

I was thinking about this yesterday too and then when I was at the checkout line I actually followed my own advice and bought a pack of juicy fruit gum. It was fun! I like that flavor. Haven't bough juicy fruit in a long time.

New vapors: do yourself a favor and get some DIY supplies, some Hangsen tobacco flavors and move on with your life.

Flavored coffee isn't a big business? So I guess Starbuck's makes boat loads of money by just selling plain old black coffee.

I just made an assumption. Seemed safe. Lot's of people are addicted to coffee in this country but there are probably not many folks stocking dozens of flavored coffees in their homes. Another assumption.

So why do we need so many different types ofcars? We just need to get from point a to point b, right?
