I was thinking about this a lot recently. And Thought I might start a thread on it for the new and/or not so new vapors that haven't tried as many different flavor profiles. Or maybe you have but have not ventured out in a while? ;)

When I started vaping, I read it again and again... flavor is subjective. "What does that even mean?" I kept thinking. I mean outside of the obvious flavor may taste different to different people. Which is very true. Or perhaps it's just not your cup-o tea. Whatever... I love that about vaping. It's an adventure. And while I knew that and took the advice of many here to try different flavor profiles, I never ventured out of my comfort bubble too far. After about 2-3 months I settled on liking apple bakery type flavors. Which I would have never guessed when I started vaping. And which I still like.

What I didn't really grasp (even tho I heard it often) is that I may like flavors that really really don't sound appealing to me. For example (and sorry for sounding like a broken record) Fire-n-ice. When I started I tried a straight up cinnamon candy. Because I wanted something different from tobacco. It was okay. But I would have NEVER in a million years would have thought that a cinnamon menthol would be my most loved vape. Why is it? IDK! it's night and day different from the just cinnamon candy that I tried and that is all I know.

What am I getting at? Well. I know most of us know it. And perhaps some of the newer vapors do not... idk I will never presume to know anything about anyone else or what they know... But I think even if we think/ and/ or have a juice that we love, we should always be adventurous and try new juices. Even ones that sound kind repulsing to our tastes. And from different vendors too! Maybe from most vendors you hate the baked goods taste... but that doesn't mean that the next vendor you try you wont like it. There is a chance you would LOVE it. In my experience venders flavors and tastes are as different as night and day.

Hell, I am even thinking of trying more menthol flavors more... I don't like menthol at all in food/ candy / coughdrops. I hated menthol cigs. But, that does not mean that I will not like a menthol vape. I was thinking of trying something crazy (too me) like vanilla menthol. Which really sounds kinda gross and very curious at the same time. If your first thought is "I don't think I will like that" get a sample. :) You never know really. Well I guess you do if that juice is crab or some such nonsense... lol But I am not talking about that.

Vaping is such a great adventure in a land where out taste-buds tell a story. Why not take an unexpected turn, you never know what you might find there. ;)

something i have learned about juice taste also,,the delivery system can really influence the flavor of the juice tremendously

I find this to be true as well. I mean for the most part all of my juices have tasted the same, maybe more "alive" in certain devices. But one clero I had which was a cheep knock off of a vision (no way to replace the atty) made juices taste bland or right out bad. And then it broke. Like after maybe an hour of use. POS model. But now I know better.

Great post, and something I was thinking about myself recently. The kind of evolution of flavors as we mature into our vaping. I'm too tired to put my thoughts together tonight, but I'll add my feelings about the journey soon. :)

I'm so glad you are back and posting again, I've missed your posts! :)

:) Thank you so much. I have missed you all as well. As things go my life became very busy for a time... and I was not vapeing as well. Just kinda didn't feel like it. But as cycles go... it came and passed and I am back! :D

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. :)

One thing I learned is just because I don't like a certain flavor in food or drink form doesn't mean I won't like to vape it. Also, flavors I like to eat don't always translate to vaping. I love chocolate and coffee, fairly indifferent to vaping them.

Coconut is a food people often dislike. Usually it's because of the texture, so they may love to vape it. I am often surprised at a flavor that I turn out to really like vaping. Graham cracker for instance sounds pretty bland, but I really liked Bobas Bounty. Lately I've discovered fig tastes really good to vape.

YES exactly! I was looking through HHV flavors because they are all the rage it seems. And while I LOVE their LOTR references... the flavors don't seem appealing. Well I am the most intrigued to try Gollum now. I think it's a fig/raisin type of sweet vape. That sound awful... but hey I might like it! And if not it will be easy to trade. :)

You hit the nail on the head for me! Yeah, not only can we be surprised by different flavors that we didn't expect to like, our tastes seem to change as we journey further into vaping. What I liked 2 months ago I may not like now, or vice versa. For example, I couldn't stand tobacco flavors when I first started vaping, and now I find that I actually crave them certain days. And that isn't me craving a cigarette...I don't want one of those at all...or anything close to the flavor of a real cigarette. But I do crave the nutty, earthy, woodsy tobacco juices. The ones that would offended me the most in the beginning, are the ones I seek out now.

That's one HHV flavor I'm looking forward to. Right now I'm vaping Honey Fig Tobacco from The Plume Room and those flavors are playing together very nicely.

I bought 10ml bottle of menthol crystals from RAWR. Only a couple drops is needed to mentholate a bottle of juice so it will last me years. It's kind of a last ditch effort to make a juice I don't like vapable, and fruits usually do well with just a hint of menthol too.

:) Good to know such a beast exists! I was thinking of mixing 1-2 drops of menthol juice into a clearo of juice. Would that work just as well? You know to try it first?

I would love to try that, as well as some of their other tobacco flavors...but I am definitely on a buying freeze for now... But they are very high on my list when I am ready to make another purchase! :)
