Flavor issue....help please

I quit smoking 7 weeks ago. vaping was working for me in the beginning. I now have 10 different tobacco flavored juicies from 4 different vendors and every one of them tastes like nothing. So frustrated. Even the ones that have been sitting (steeping) have no flavor. I tried the boiling water. I tried airing them out with the cap off. They still taste like nothing. I'm not into these crazy sweet desert flavors and I don't like menthol. I don't know what else to do. I have an ego battery with an evod. I put fresh coils.....still nothing. I tried Apollo juices. Vapor zone. Good e juice. And a local store. Is it my setup or can all four vendors be crap?

Pretty good chance you're going through what's called 'vaper tongue'. Yup - that's a thing.

When you quit smoking, your taste wakes up. Often, there is a kind of a rebound effect - your taste shuts back down again (I've heard it being as a result of sensory overload). If it happens, not to panic; it will pass naturally.

There are some things you can try to help alleviate the symptoms, most notably drink lots of water. Looooots of water. More water than you'd think humanly possible. Some people swear by doubling the frequency of your oral care and the use of alcohol-free mouthwash. If you do a search on the topic, you'll find even more folk remedies in this forum.

So are you not trying these juices in the vape shop. My rule is try before you buy, especially juice. The only juices I buy online are ones that I've tried in a shop.
If you bought the juice locally go back to the shop and have them check it out. If it's the juice they may be able to add flavor to what you have.

Hi jeneee. Sorry this is happening to you. What Papa said is right on the mark. It happened to me about 6 weeks into vaping and for a few days it sucked. I upped my water intake. Vaped more intense flavors. Did the mouthwash thing. Not sure what worked, but after 3 or 4 days, vaping tasted good again.

If it is vapers tongue, it is temporary and will pass. Don't let this lead you back to analogs. From what I've been told, they taste like garbage after vaping for a while. Hang in there and keep the vape. Namaste

+2 for this.

Not trying to say your "wrong" by going the tobacco route...can only tell you from my personal experience...and everyone is different.

I tried for the longest time to find a tobacco flavor that tasted like my Camel Light. I think it was a wasted endeavor. I don't think you are every going to find something that tastes exactly like your old cigarette...I could be wrong and if you do great...but if not try out some different flavors to see if that will help.

I've been describing it as my "epiphany vaping moment". And don't recall now if it was with a caramel/vanilla/tobacco flavor or if it was something like a strawberry short cake flavor. But it's the moment that your brain says to you "You know this isn't half bad...I kind of like this...it doesn't have to taste like my Camel Light in order for this to work for me."

Now I cheated at first. Went from about 1.25 pack a day to maybe about a pack a month. I'd still have one in the morning or one in the evening or one on a car ride, etc because I missed my "Camel Light" taste. It was kind of like going from Camel Lights to say Marlboro Lights, or even Kents...it was just different than what I was used to. But eventually when I had that "ahh haa moment" and realized it didn't have to be the same I haven't cheated since. Hopefully you'll eventually have that moment as well. It might come with a tobacco flavor or it might come with a green apple flavor...who knows. Your taste buds and mind will eventually tell you what will work.

As I said before I started the tobacco flavor route but now I hardly use them at all and if I do I mix in some mint, watermelon, or other random flavor about half and half into my tank. I just find that with tobacco flavors if I don't mix them something else I always get that "This doesn't taste like my Camel Light" feeling. So for me other flavors is what did that mental mind trick to get me completely off of cigs.

If you want to try out a wide range of vendors and flavors this has been my go to link http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...cussion/458263-3ml-cheap-sampler-bottles.html. Try tobacco and other flavors to see what works for you. If you find one you like you can always go back and order a bigger bottle for economical reasons.

EDIT: FYI with the above link scroll through the pages...I lost the ability to edit my original post and keep everything at the top. There is no order of vendor preference I just kept them in the order that they came in.

I'm not into these crazy sweet desert flavors and I don't like menthol. I don't know what else to do.

I know the feeling about sweet. Personally I do like menthol so that helps. May I recommend tea flavors (though some of them are also sweet) plain fruit flavors, especially citrus, and (if you have a glass clearomizer or use cartos) hot cinnamon to get you through the vapers tongue stage. Coffee flavors that aren't sweet like espresso or black coffee are also an option. They don't taste much like coffee, but at least they are not sweet. ;-)

Also, higher pg ratios help, since vg is sweet in and of itself.
