Hey all,

Nice to be here. Been vaping for 3 years. Just got my first DIY kit from a guy here in Canada. Used 15% of FS Holy Vanilla at it almost made me sick it was so overpowering. After doing some minor reserach it appears that FS should be used more in the 2 to 5% range.
Anyhow, question is how do i know what percentages to have my flavors at? Sometimes i'll see a flvor that i'd like to try and i dont know if it can be used standalone or is better as a 2% additional flavor. I mostly vape vanilla/custard/bavarian cream type flavors. Is FA very strong? Is CAP usually safe anywhere from 10% to 15%? How do i know what will be way too strong at more than 5% and what is only going to be good in the 10 to 15 range? I'd also like some suggestions on some solid base flavors (custardy, vanilla) that will be fine on their own

Thanks in advance

Best bet is to look up on top at recipes, and a few other recipe sites such as e-liquid-recipes (search for Google without those dashes, we can't link directly from here). There are a bunch to try. As you work with them you'll get a better insight into your own preferences, and probably save a bunch on not buying flavors you'll use maybe once and realize they're not for you (it'll still happen, just with less frequency).

Most flavors are best between 1 and 6 %. I just got into DIY, and got some gear from NudeNic, and their suggestion for flavors is between 2.5 and 7.5 %. I just made a melon juice, where I used one flavor at about 3%, and so far it's working just fine. I can't make recommendations on your flavor choices, I stick mostly to fruity flavors.

You must have bought your starter kit from The Broke Vaper. They don't have any recommended percentages on their site.

Sometimes, for sake of ease, I just go to diy-ejuice.com and look for the flavor I want then click on the "Mixing Percentages" tab and get their recommendation. They don't have Flavor Shack but they have just about everything else (and more, way more than The Broke Vaper).

Any flavor vendor site usually has info in their descriptions of usual start or range of % to use for their products. Sometimes you can read the reviews from customers also to get a good idea of a starting place.

Getting a flavor you like and can vape can be a long process. As you already know what I may like you may think tastes really bad. Everyone is different. There are a lot of the same sounding flavors from different flavor vendors but each has its own interpretation of how a flavor tastes. ie. Flavourt cream and TPA cream have the same names but taste different as taste is subjective.

Capella's flavors are usually med range and FlavourArt flavors are very concentrated and they say to start around 2-3%.

I would suggest you getting a few flavors from different makers and making a small batch to test that way you can tell what you may like before spending a lot of money on ones you may not like.

You'll be wanting some Capella's Vanilla Custard V.1 and some Inawera Vanilla Shisha.

Just go ahead and buy the big bottles, they'll get used. ;)

Elr has had some issues, but it is a good resource if you are patient. I'm not really known to be patient but still use the site lol.

Yeah, I'm still using it but I've downloaded all my recipes off there just in case something goes *poof*

Great tips. And super fast. Thanks all.

So if FA is usually at 2 to 3% then would it be a good idea to get as much of their flavors so instead of using 10% of a custard from CAP let's say ,then if FA has a custard in only using 2 to 3% and saving money on flavors and overall ejuice cost . Does this strategy make sense it is there a good reason not to do it ?

Is DIY ejuice cheaper than broke vaper. Someone told me they were in BC so I'm concerned about not waiting forever for Canada Post . My DIY kit from broke vaper was at my house less than 24 hours after I ordered it. I'm in southwestern Ontario btw

Not all custards are the same.

In most cases DIY in BC is cheaper (although I noticed some prices went up on March 1st and I haven't done an order yet so it remains to be seen). They have a far wider selection than The Broke Vaper does and it will take about 4 to 5 days to reach Ontario.

You're going to need to try a lot of different flavors to find out what your preferences are - a good suggestion for trial sizes would be FlavourFog.com (in Sask.). With them you can buy up to ten 3ml sized bottles and they will ship for just $3. Just like most e-shops here in Canada, there is a wide selection but not a full selection however they do have lots of FlavourArt so that is a great place to start. And if you do buy from FlavourFog they have a 10% standing discount with code ELRECIPES.

I'll def check them out. Just looking at DIY ejuice and it's definitely cheaper for flavouring . I don't see nic base on the site though.

They do have nic base and it's good! And, it's the best price you'll find just about anywhere in Canada. You have to email them for prices but it's much more reasonable than The Broke Vaper.

How do I add it to my order and pay online if it isn't shown on their site and you have to email them for a price. Yes you're right their prices are better. Ready to place an order but don't see the nic. On my phone though so maybe it's just not showing on mobile web browser

    It works like this:

First email for prices so you can decide what exactly you want (size and base, ie; 500ml of 100mg nic in VG). They have nic in PG, VG and 50/50 PG/VG. I think they offer nic strengths at 48mg or 100mg.

Then put your order together and add a note in the Comments box stating that you want nic added to your order (and give them the details for the ml size and mg strength and which base you want). Choose "Bank Transfer" for payment (this is the only way to get nic in Canada, no Paypal or credit cards are usually allowed). Then hit the "Place Order" button.

They will get back to you (fast!) with your total and the instructions on how to transfer the funds (Monday to Friday only - they don't usually answer e-mails on the weekend but once in a while you'll get lucky). They ship very fast - usually the same day if you get your order in early in the morning.
