Hello!

I'm fairly new to Genesis style atomizers but I've built quite a few wicks and coils and have had some pretty good vaping experiences. It wasn't until today that I ventured into the sub ohms when I got some 28g Kenthal wire. The reading came out to ~0.8 Ohms. I'm using the DID on a Poldiac (mechanical mod). The flavor is just way too much. I usually vape sweet fruity flavors and the melon flavor juice I was using was way too intense. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a burnt taste, it's just very, very concentrated with a heavy throat hit. I replaced the juice with Boba's Bounty and even that tastes too sweet. I'm using the same wick, the only difference to the setup is the new lower resistance coil. Before the new coil, I was vaping around 1.4 Ohms.

I don't have experience with sub ohms vaping, is it suppose to intensify the taste like this? There is definitely a bit more vapor production but the taste is as if I'm vaping pure sugar. I'm using a 400 mesh SS wick though I can't be sure since I'm using what came with my DID atomizer and it isn't labeled. Anyways, the wick is only about 3 or 4 wraps, can that affect the taste or if it wicks the juice and there is no burnt taste it's all good?

Any advice?

I changed the coil to 1.0 Ohms. It's really weird... I used the 28g Kenthal and even at 1.0 + Ohms it was still behaving the same. Went back to the 32g Kenthal that came with my atty and the 1.0 Ohms setup works now. The taste isn't so harsh anymore although the vapor production took a considerable hit.

I'm not very happy with this. Also the juice that was giving me trouble is Boba's Bounty which is a pretty popular one.

I think I've done everything right. Watched PBusardo's and other similar videos on YouTube and followed them to a T. Tried 2 different multimeters for the Ohm reading, got 2 MNKE 18650 batteries.

Even with my 32g @ 1.0 Ohms setup, if I take more than 1.5 - 2 second hit on it, it starts tasting really harsh and chemical. What gives?

harsh and chemical sounds like dry wick. try tilting it and dousing the wick while firing it. i run a .8 on my DID and needs to be tilted like every other hit. was getting ready to try a silica strand up the center of the mesh.

as the wire gets bigger there is more surface area touching the wick, meaning more juice getting vaporized faster. also meaning the wick will hit dry spots faster.

if i remember right boba's is almost all vg?, dont know i dont have any, which will also compound the problems - thicker juice will wick slower.
VG= pure sugar, as bad as sugar smells burning im sure it tastes just as awful.

Wow, you're right!

I usually vape while near horizontal but now tilted it like you said and took some looong hits. No more chemical nasty taste! You're a saint!

Can you please tell me what eJuice you've had good history with vaping @ .8?

Also please let me know if/when you try the silica trick inside the mesh.

On another note, I think I need to go down in nic level. Currently using 24 mg which was fine before switching to a Genny but boy is it strong now.

Edit: The Boba's Bounty that I ordered is 60% VG, 40% PG. I got it before I switched to the Genny thinking it would be better for vapor production. Their site lets you order many different VG/PG mixes and maybe I should get 50/50 or higher PG concentration. Thanks again!

sometimes its the simplest things. after almost 2 years i still do it lol.

the other day I came home exhausted, started dinner and rebuilt my dripper, wick, check .9 ohms? check. fires nice? check. dinner got out of hand and ran to the kitchen. came back took a hit, blea W-T-H? - adjusted the airhole took a hit, god thats nasty! got all freaked. took care of dinner, then came back and said dang man im tired i dont want to have to rebuild this. one more hit. yuk went "sigh" and opened the cap.

GEE adding juice helps A LOT LOL!

i DIY and all my juice is 70/30 i also use 500 mesh been so long since i used anything else i dont remember what anything else hits like soo.

and yea the nic will slam you in a geni this is the benefit of using them, i have some 10mg just for evenings so i can sleep lol

on a mech the genis steam it out and that coil can get HOT. coincidentally they call it the "genni tilt"

I forgot to ask about the SS mesh. Why do you go with 500? Would that wick quicker? Any drawbacks? I think higher count mesh is for thinner juices? I could be wrong.

I must've built 5 wicks in the past couple days. Just couldn't figure out what caused the chemical taste.

once there was 325 and 400 they were pretty much standard and different counts for different juices. or so it was believed. 500 rolled around and everyone came to the consensus that it seems to wick everything well, and wicking problems become more of a how you roll it/treat it problem. and not so much the mesh count.

I got some free or something, and just had no issues so I decided lets just stick to what works well. and through some fortunate events i have more then I will ever need right now lol so why bother playing with other stuff.
