Flavor West DIY flavor review

Because it'll co$t you much more.
I buy MBV flavorings only for their signature flavors that FW doesn't have: Hawk Sauce, Banana Cream Pie, Blue Moo...

MBV added suppliers in early Fall 2013. They still use some FW.
MBV & FW still mix at the same exact percentages and many of their flavors taste exactly the same.
MBV dropped FW for their Butterscotch supplier but the "new improved" MBV Butterscotch tastes exactly the same IMO.

Anyone looking for a tasty tobacco vape - FW East Coast tobacco (same as MBV) is excellent and popular with my tobacco vaping friends.
It's been my wife's ADEDV for about a year and a half :)
Do you have any good recipes for the East Coast Tobaccco ?

I've been checking out the flavor west site and they have quite a few new flavors. I am just curious has anyone tried any of the following new flavors? I've been looking at the cake batter dip, cherry crush, cloud 9,Ruby relaxer, Scooby drink, Shirley Temple, and Tiki roar. I just want to know if anyone's tried them yet?

Well I took the plunge and ordered some stuff
butterscotch
sugar cookie
blueberry
waffle
vanilla custard
120ml of 6mg nic vg liquid

I forgot to order sweetener.

dripping this in a dark horse rda with a dual parallel coil at .14 ohms.

The butterscotch is all I've messed with so far and I'm making it in 1ml batches so i don't waste too much of my flavoring if it's not good. First batch was 12% flavor and not strong enough. Second was at 20% and it's much better. I'm gonna try 25% next and I'm keeping my vg amount at 70% or more to keep the throat hit down. Obviously taste is subjective but man I don't see how people use such a low % with the flavoring. Almost everything I've seen has suggested 15-25% flavoring for the mix.

I use 18% in 40/60. I can make 35/65 max because I have PG nic. 20% or more should work in 30/70

Do you know that you'll get less flavor if you "oversaturate" the flavor concentration?
As you add more flavoring it will get stronger until it suddenly falls off. back off a bit and you're there.

This is all new to me. I'm trying to find that point of over saturation so i can back off from it.

I only bought a 120ml bottle of vg base so I'm hoping to not waste all of it and get some kind of vapable liquid out of it.

I did do this tho. Made a 10ml bottle at 15% flavoring of every flavor i have and sat it aside with the tips and caps off.

This will let me see in a few days how the flavor is on these. I ordered sweetener on a separate order and that won't be here until Saturday but oh well.

I'll probably place another order tomorrow and get a 250ml bottle of base. I'll need some more flavors to try out with it but I've been keeping my notes so i don't get mixed up

I bet 25%-28% will nail it. I'd try 26% with all VG nic. That'll give you just about 4.5mg juice

With each flavor or a certain one and should I try it out or just sit it aside?

Find your % with one to make sure you have it right before trying any others.
Jason (FW's owner) said that all their flavors are designed to work at the same concentration.
You didn't waste any yet. just add more flavor to what you made already but keep perfect notes and keep your math correct.

At 26% the flavor is better. It needs to steep that's for sure. I can only mix it up so much by hand shaking it. I'm gonna fix the 10ml bottle to 26% and let it sit.

Do you use a rda or a tank? And is it normally a lower amount of flavoring for a rda vs tank?

Seems like I see a lot of people doing 20-25% for flavor west flavors

I'm not a lunger. I use a Nautilus/BVC @ ~13.5 watts.

I don't know if lungers use lower flavor but the drippers I know use 0-3mg and sometimes 6mg with high VG

Higher VG needs more flavoring.

Here's a copy/paste of my costs from a few months ago.
*********************************************************
18mg 70/30 12.5% costs

.75 for nic Heartland or VT TH
.15 for pg Essential Depot
.11 for vg Essential Depot
.53 for FW
1.27 for MBV
1.90 for Hawk Sauce (sm bott)
.95 for Hawk Sauce (big bott)

64ml of MBV costs me $2.28
64ml of FW costs me $1.54
64ml of Hawk Sauce (main site) costs me $2.91
64ml of Hawk Sauce (wholesale) costs me $1.74

8oz bttl of HS flavored 18mg now costs me about 7 bucks :)
*********************************************************

Now I vape 12mg 50/50 so use more flavoring but less nic. The cost approximately balances out.

Personally, I'm at 12-15% total on a lot of my FW flavors. I do not subscribe to more is better. Particularly with multi flavor mixes. I feel more just kind of turns it to mud with the flavors all muted or lost . Sure, more gives you more flavor but that does not mean it gives you better flavor.

Of course YMMV

Great distinction! It kinda reminds me of growing up when many of us (around where I am from) used to have loud speaker systems in our cars. I remember some people turning their systems up all the way because they wanted the loudest sound, but not all of their amps and speakers could handle it, so they got distortion. They didn't seem to mind considering they wanted louder sound, not better sound. Their best sound peaked at a lower volume than they could accept. At max sound, you couldn't even make out lyrics or even what that dadgum song was! LOL

This is all new to me so I know I'm gonna end up messing up and I am fine with that. When I did 10% or lower there seemed to be no flavor at all. So I bumped it up to 15%. I have a bunch of bottles made at 15% and I did a blueberry waffle mix at 10% blueberry and 5% waffle. The blueberry waffle tastes good already.

I had a bottle of razzleberry that I got from MBV and I did a bottle at 5% 10% 15% and 25% to see what happens, that's all sitting in the back room in the basement steeping right now. I mixed up my whole 120ml bottle of 6mg nic 100%vg base already

I think I might place a new order today, by the time I get the new stuff and mix it up the stuff I just made Thursday will be good enough to try

Was thinking of getting 120ml of 12mg nicotine vg base and a 250ml bottle of 100% vg and making 3 120ml bottles of 4mg 100%vg base. Any idea on a better way cost wise to do this to keep me close to 3mg after I add flavoring?

First and foremost I want to be safe and I cannot afford to have high MG nicotine in the house. I had back surgery 5 years ago and get horrible nerve pain down my legs randomly at what seems to be the worst possible times. If I am holding anything more then likely I end up spilling it because it makes me tense up so bad.

Thanks again for all the help I really appreciate it
