I visited Fairway last night. They have 2oz of flavorings (and a big variety too) for $5. Many of them had PG as the first ingredient, and not much else. What can I look for in these flavorings to assure that they're usable for DIY purposes?

Make sure that they do not contain oil. It is probably going to be fairly weak so you will most likely need to use more of it than we do with the more common food flavors used in ejuice. Good luck to you.
It is food grade PG, not USP grade. Some people only vape USP and never food grade PG.
Ah, i suppose I'll find one without oil, give it a try and see how it comes out before even purchasing any more.
I wouldn't suggest it, SilentEcho. Couple of years ago I started reading their labels in the store, but some didn't even list ingredients (well, not the Coconut in my kitchen anyway - that one just has the name of the bottling company! which I Googled but found no ingredients info there either). Some flavors (like Lemon) are cloudy in the bottle; particulates are not good for vape mixing. And many contain oils.
I quickly decided they were food-use only. I didn't want to hurt myself or my equipment, so I bought vape-compatible flavoring from various vendors online (after reading DIY threads until my eyes bled!).
