I've noticed some flavorings gunk up equipment a little faster than I would like, dark flavors and some sweet flavors are pretty common offenders. Figuring this out before hand would be wonderful, instead of wasting money on the flavor and dead parts. I have been trying to find some consistent method of figuring this out, no luck so far. Capella's Strawberry seems to do pretty well, Capella's Grape however certainly does not. After plugging up several carto's in less than a day with 13% Capella's grape I did a test on a the Boge 2.0's I've been using. vaping flavored plain 50/50 juice and one single carto lastest me about 2 months as my only vape. So, is this the price of flavor? carto a day vs one every two months?

Edited: I'll try to keep on top of this thread and add everyone's recommendations to the list

Flavors that do not gunk up:
Capella's Strawberry
Flavour Art Black Tea
Capella's Blueberry
TPA caramel cappuccino
Capella vanilla custard

What other flavorings out there that seem to keep atties clean?

Cartos are so finicky sometimes. I don't believe it to only be at fault of the juice, though that is most likely a contributing factor to the lifespan of a carto. Sometimes a carto or two from a batch has a seemingly predetermined lifespan, regardless of what's used in it. I've read that some would have a carto last days and another last weeks from the same pack. Same juice and all.

As for keeping attys clean. I usually just vape some plain VG on the atty and it clears the previous flavor pretty good most of the time. Unless I'm using menthol or cinnamon, which I don't use menthol or cinnamon :)

That's a good tip! I have to try that..

It's not just cartos that seem to be giving me problems, clearomizers and atties as well are consistently gumming up from certain flavors. The dark coffee's and chocolates I expect to do this so I pretty much don't use them. A perfectly clear grape from Capella surprised me, especially when their strawberry works so well. It actually turns into a syrup and dries up into sugary deposits, in about one days use.

Maybe I'm having bad luck with the flavorings I'm picking, but the life of my gear seems really dependent on them.

Well, at least you're getting to know what flavors gum and don't.

There might even be a list circulating around that indicate which flavors gum up equipment. If not, perhaps you could keep a documented list and eventually post the results as a reference for all. And people could chime in and add to the list as they try flavors, so that whomever wishes, can avoid said flavors in the future. :)

I've been having the exact same problem lately, in a major way. :-( I recently got a shipment of Capella flavors and I find that since I started mixing with them my cartos have an extremely limited lifespan. And when I say limited, I mean like a single day, or two days at absolute tops. I've been using a 50-50 nic base, so I just ordered some 100% PG nic base to mix in, hoping it will thin the juice down enough to overcome the gunk-up. I use sweetener in all my juices and I'm aware that it tends to lessen carto life, but I've never had them gunk up to the point of unvapeable this quickly before. Capella has great flavors but if I can't find a way to overcome the gunk up problem I'm going to go back to TFA and try some other vendors too.

Build atomizers yourself, plenty of HOW TO youtube videos. Just check ohm resistance before hitting the fire button. And you won't have any problems with any flavor concentrates or ejuices. And you will save even more money.

Always do a dry burn after a wash/dry out too. Just before using it. Short 3-4 second bursts, till the coil glows red and the small trails of vapor disappear.

I've noticed this for a long time now. TPA caramel cappuccino doesn't gunk up at all and lasts weeks in a single carto in a tank. I so use sweetener but only 1 drop per 10 ml. Capella vanilla custard does pretty good also... mixed with a little FA cookie, it's good. I do rebuild my own coils in my vivi novas but for me, cartos in tanks give a much better draw.

That was idea behind starting the thread :)
