I purchased a 16 oz. Bottle of FW 555 for the first time and looking for a good starting percent so it is not real overpowered or unvapable. My ADV for five years was Halo Prime15 but since i diy all of my juice I thought opting for the 555 flavor might be a good substitute for Prime15. Does/has anyone tried this flavor yet and have a good starting percent ??

When starting out with DIY, the key is to start low with your percentages and work up as needed. Some flavors are stronger than others as well.

Do a small batch first (like 5-10ml) with a strength of around 5-6%. Then add flavoring in small steps until you reach the desired taste.

I am not starting out with diy this 555 is just a new flavor to me I have not tried yet. My usual percent with FW flavors is 20% but I do not want to start that high with a new tobacco.
555 is one of my favorite "artificial" tobacco flavors! It's a stout concentrate that I've found easily overpowers. I've never used FW flavors so I don't know how concentrated they are. If you're using 20% they are either really watered down or you like flavor bombs! LOL!

I would start at about 2-3% and work your way up from there. I probably wouldn't go over about 7%. But that just my personal limit.

Thanks . FW flavors advertised average starting percent on most of there flavors is 15-20% but there is no mention of starting percent for there 555 . I think I will start this one at 5% and go from there.

I guess you are making this a stand alone flavor, I have not tried any F.W. Tobbacos, but use many of there other Flavors at 8-15% or lower if in a mix. For any tobbaco's it would have to be Hansen, Inawera, and FlavorArt.
No just trying to find a replacement for halo prime15 which is my adv tobacco flavor. But as all of my juices are diy I would like to get a replacement diy for my prime15 so I do not have to pay out $100 every month for a supply of tobacco flavor. After all,diy is just cents per ml and that is the whole purpose of diy'ing ?? When I started diy about 5 - 6 years ago I used flavors from just about all vendors but FW was what stuck with me. I do have 2-3 TFA,4 capella, and 2 FA flavors I use because FW does not have them.

Halo Prime got me of the real cigs. I've tried many recipes but nothing really got quite there. Lucky I'm good with Hangsen No.5 or Highway at 7% with a 0.5% of Marshmallow and a drop of AP. Maybe a touch of Cocoa.
Yea Prime15 is hard if not impossible to reproduce but there are a few of us that do love it. Prime does have a certain cocoa flavor in it and there is where the problem of making it comes in I believe. Nobody knows which cocoa Halo uses and as you know alot of chocolate and cocoa flavor can/will taste like wood. Prime's cocoa does not have that woody tatse though so until we can pin point down the exact match flavor cocoa Halo uses we will not be able to make an exact Prime15 tobacco. I am still searching for a suitable 555 tobacco replacement but still have not found one until I mix up this new FW 555 I purchased to see how it will fare against Prime. Edit: The hangsen and highway flavors were/are always out of stock looking for the clone flavors to mix a clone prime. The only place I have found that carries them(if you can find them in stock) so far is ecigexpress. Do you get them from another supplier??

I've never used FW's 555 but I have made very good prime15 clones with hangsen No5 and highway and adding a little AP and inawera chocolate to it. All I can suggest is maybe start at 5% and adjust up or down from there.

you'll find some pretty good prime15 clone recipes including a few of my own in this thread

Halo Freedom/Smooth/Torque recipes???

Here's a few examples

5 - 7% hangsen highway or No.5
3% Hangsen cocoa or 2% inawera chocolate
1% Methylbutyraldehyde (get it here) Perfumers Apprentice - (Choco mosey note)
1 - 2% AP (Get it here) Perfumers Apprentice - Acetyl Pyrazine 5% (PG)
.5% sweetener

or

4% Hangsen No.5
3% tobacco absolute (If you use TFA's thick tar TA dilute 2 large drops in 10ml PG and use that as your concentrate)
1 - 2% AP
4% hangsen cocoa or 2% inawera chocolate
1 - 2% MTB (Methylbutyraldehyde 1%)

or very basic clone

5 - 7% Hangsen No.5
1 - 2% AP
.5 - 1% TFA - Sweetner

The discussions start at about page 19.

My happy place for most FW flavors as stand alones is ~12%
My FW vanilla custard starting point is 20% and that is not overpowering flavor but tastes like you get the entire base level custard. There are a lot of FW that over power at 20% but most do require a starting point at 15-20%.
