I thought I'd start a DIY thread about different FA tobacco flavorings since I have ordered a few and am just now getting into DIY e-liquids. I will be posting my opinions of the different flavors and my recipes as I go. I just recieved my order of DIY flavors/supplies a couple days ago and have worked the past couple days so I have only had a chance to mix up one of my FA flavors...the first one I chose was:
Camtel Ultimate (the smell alone hooked me -FYI I never was a Camel smoker)
50/50 PG/VG mix
18mg nicotine
20% flavoring (Edit: way too strong -but good -I diluted it down to 3-5% and it was just right)
I LOVE IT! Hands down the best 'tobacco' vape I've ever tried. I actually think I like it more than AVE Boba's Bounty and BWB Casablanca...which says a lot cause those are two of myfavorite tobacco-ish flavors. Easilly an all day vape for me. Anyone else tried this one? Can't wait to try some more!

Edit: a little FYI: does not taste near to analog smoke for those of you looking for that ciggy smoke taste(tremendously better -analogs are nasty! can't believe I used to like the taste of them)... but the flavor is reminiscent of the smell of a freshly opened pack of a strong tobacco cigs...the flavor is hard to describe -robust, complex, smooth, hint of vanilla, a very mild spice? that I can't put my finger on, no strange chemical/fake taste at all, no strange hay flavor like I've dectected in some China liquids...just yummy tobacco flavor!

I find with FA or with other tobacco flavors anything over 3% Is too strong. I use 10% with fruit flavors and add 1% absolute or extract if I want a fruit/tobacco blend. When I talk about absolute or extract I`m talking after diluting it down to a usable strength. Also you don`t really know what you have till it`s steeped for a week I find.

This a.m. I tried the other FA tobaccos from my order: Desert Ship, oRyental 4, Tuscan Reserve, Virginia, Shade
My method for taste testing is this: 2 drops VG on clean atty +1 tiny drop flavoring+1 more drop VG (just to get the full idea of the flavor. In between flavors I flood my atty out with pure PG then blow it all out till clear, then it's ready for the next taste test.
I absolutely love every one of the FA tobaccos I have tried so far (except Shade is one that I think I will use as a mixer -other than that all the others are stand-alone flavors and just perfect just how they are)...my husband, on the other hand, does not like their tobaccos -I think they are the best I have ever tasted -clean, well rounded, no fake chemical taste...just delicious (perhaps I made them too strong for him  -of course at least if he doesn't like them I get them all to myself :p)
The FA tobaccos to me compared to all pre-made tobacco flavors I have tried I compare like this:
pre-made vendor tobacco e-liquid: like a tough fatty overcooked low quality steak with cheap wine (excluding EVE Boba's Bounty -love it, and BWB Casablance -love it)
FA tobacco DIY: like a high quality perfectly cooked peice of filet with a fine wine -there's no turning back now! :vapor:

The flavor concentrates would last a looong time if I do mix them at a lower concentration. I will try diluting down the 1ml Camtel mix I already have made to 3% flavoring and see if it is strong enough for me...and then let my husband try it to see if he likes it better (he has been vaping nothing but apple this past week so maybe that's why he is turned off to the rich complex tobaccos?) BTW, Can't really pick a favorite out of my 5 FA tobaccos cause they are each so good in their own distinct way...I could easily vape on any of them all day.

I usually steep my FA tobacco juices for several weeks, except for Maxboro which to me is vapable after 2-3 days. Shade also seems to need less time than most. I thought Camtel and Virginia took the longest.

Generally, the larger the batch and the more VG in the mix, the longer it takes. I use between 5 and 10% flavoring as a rule.

Perique Black and Latakia are my current favorites.
