I'm a oldish pensioner geezer who's been smoking for almost half a century and if I carry on, I'll likely be in serious trouble soon, but I can't stop, already I'm taking emphysema medication. I heard about e-cigarettes and have spent quite a few hours researching on the net. Lucky for me, I found this forum and realise that everything I thought I knew about vaping was rubbish. Basically, I have to make the switch and soon or else.....

What I'm reading here coincides totally with my thinking i.e. go big or go home. So, I bought the biggest 'gun' available in my country, a Janty Stick which seems to work quite well.

My Janty Stick came with Toasted High carts (said to be 15mg Nicotine), which I find a bit acrid. I bought a bottle of Virginia High to get started, also a bit acrid though. I found that by topping the Toasted cart with Virginia, I got a more pleasant, sweetish blend. So, I think this is the direction I want to explore, tobacco flavour but something sweeter, don’t know what yet. It’s like with drinking, I don’t much like the taste of alcohol, but enjoy a vodka lime and lemonade or beer shandy...... no. I'm not a Brandy and Coke drinker.

I know I must increase the strength to maybe 24mg to compete with my analogues but I have to get more flavour too if I'm going to cut them out. So far I've halved my daily analogue intake in just a few days, but they're still tasting better. Must correct this urgently!

I could waste thousands trying all the flavours, so recommendations please? :)

In my experience, marlboro juice is one of the sweeter tobacco based juices. This is what I taste in the more popular and available tobacco based flavors - this will be 'tobacco base plus x':

Kent - vanilla
Hilton and Camel - chocolate
Virginia - cherry or almond
Flue Cured - nut and almond/cherry
555 - nutty/peanutty
RY4 - smokey caramel cream
Marlboro - vanilla and/or coconut
Newport - menthol
Tobacco aka TAB - straight tobacco
Lucky Strike and Parliament - cinnamon (Parl. is sweeter)
Cuban - cigar

I find fruit flavors to be fairly accurate with the exception of cherry which can be all over the place. Licorice, I find faint, whereas 'fennel' is strong licorice/anise. Coconut by itself is rather good. Menthol can be a double mint or just a pepper mint or a straight menthol crystal - ie. strong.

Without knowing what stores are the easiest available for you it's hard to direct much past those hints.

Kudos. Should get me off to a good start. I remember trying an e-cig in a store and found the flavour quite interesting, I think it was RY4. What's French Pipe like? Also had a recommendation for Mild7, yet to try it.

Doug -sorry for the ranbling post.
I know how you feel! And as you know taste is sooo personal.

KentC and I must have the same tastebuds, For lack of better words I think he nailed it on the head there with all of his listings.

I too thought (and sought) the tobacco juice. I spent a lot of money trying to find the juice that was my "analog replacement". I almost gave up vaping because I couldnt find it.

Without going into detail - I made one 'final' order from a different vendor, Nhaler, because so many people raved about them.

And now I know why people have "manufacturers of juice" they love and rave about. Nhalers stuff was awesome for me, the flavor was intense yet smooth vaping. From my 555/ry4 tobacco type order, they threw in a a few samples of Kent, Peach, Bananasplit, and Black raspberrys and cream. "Fru fru" flavors I would never buy on my own.

I love the fru-fru stuff. I admit it. I am a closet "girly" vaper. My wife drips Cuban cigar and here I am, pullin in peaches and cream. I think I might start holding my pinky extended as I push the button on my 510. I digress...

But back to your question - as a almost 3 decade 2-3pack/day smoker of heavy brands, I find that 555, Kent (or any of the analog named) and RY4 (or some combination of those) at 24 mg keeps me very happy. Banana Split is just the finishing touch for me. My wife vapes Kent and Cuban, although I saw her nipping at my Ry4 today.

Nhaler is supposed to have a new "drewbacco-1" flavor that I just ordered. cant wait to try it.

I will say this - it cant hurt you to buy a few samplers from Nhaler or ecigsmokestore. At $4-6 per bottle you cant really go wrong. The ones you abosultely cant vape you can sell on the classifieds here at minimal loss. Those quailty juices will be sold very quickly.

LOL Ashhole, great nick too. :D

I think you make a good point, trying to stick with tobacco because I'm a tobacco slave, may be a paradigm, requiring a paradigm shift. Thanks.

My neck of the world (South Africa), is a vaping backwater atm, with dealers able to rip off the public bigtime. As an example, the pipe601 which I've seen advertised State-side for $70, sells here for anything between $100 & $380. A 10ml bottle of liquid here sells at $7 to $25. Prices overseas are much cheaper, but the postage is a deal breaker except on very large orders, and the local dealers know it and exploit it only too well. There are a few decent local suppliers that I can support though, just have to hope their liquids are good.

RY4 sounds like a good starting point, will look out for some here.

Hey Doug ...
Also from SA … CT :)
The suppliers here are over the top with pricing :-(

I find most of the cigarette emulating flavas have that acrid taste + (SMELL in bottle) so watch it - smell the stuff if you at a vendor (only TWISP here in SA I think)
I have spent a fortune on testing flavaz :-( - whew embarrassing really– I keep them all in my fridge – make blends to try use up the stuff I don’t like.

I also have STICK – great – but uses tons of liquid – I switched to a Dura C – better really (both good though).

I also find dryness a problem – particularly found midday and eating times.

Sooo ...
I use mint for the dry times
And warmer flavors rest of time – Coffee + vanilla my fav at moment – also strawberry + cherry (sweeter)

I have found cheaper sources of liquid + hardware – but that’s another story altogether …

I think that the RY4 will keep you on the path but 24 may not be enough. I must have 30 or I will just wear myself out filling carts, it has become my main vape now. I smoked Swisher Sweet regular ciggs for several years after moving up from other harsh brands. Hilton is the most like an anlog for me but the after vapors are a deal breaker, enough to make a dog run and hide after smelling. I also like caramel and vanilla and mix these as well.

You may want to look into a Nickostick boxmod in case anything happens to your Jantystick. Very cheap to make and a pleasure to vape from. What is amazing is after about thirty days my lungs felt clear as if 35 years of smoking just faded away. No more coughing and wheazing at all, and I could run a good distance if I had to.

Agreed riche, the Janty (Twisp) Stick runs very hot and dries out a cart in no time. It produces a huge head of steam for about half an hour then dwindles fast. I have to top up my cart with 6 to 7 drops 4 to 5 times a day, not economical. Also have to clean the atty often to get rid of the burnt taste. I took it with on a trip that lasted an unexpected 5 hours yesterday and although the battery lasted fine, I struggled to get much vapour from it for the last 3 hours, cart was out of fuel. I chain smoked 3 analogs when I got home. You need to break away from Twisp though, they're utterly useless and incredibly expensive. You've got the magic Stick, now get your liquids and support elsewhere.

Made enquiries about RY4 today and couldn't find any, seems it's not popular in SA. Found a great dealer though, just a couple of km's away with a good range and great prices. He's waiting for a big import delivery and then I'll be able to set myself up better, with chargers, juice etc., he reckons he can order some RY4 for me as well. He had some but gave it away because nobody was buying it. I'm going to visit him Friday and test all his sample juices. Trouble is he's a non-smoker, non-vaper and can't recommend because he doesn't know what the stuff tastes like.

I would like to make my own cappucino liquid, but I don't know where to get the flavored drops that are water soluble. I ordered before from LorAnn's but I didn't see anything for that flavor on the site that says it's water soluble. I did see that flavor but it was under the oils for the Chocolate flavorings, is that the same thing? Also looking to find carmel, cream and vanilla flavorings. Looking to get them all from one place if possible, and to get the best possible flavored drops. Does anyone have suggestions? Please help a vapette out!!

Shadowdr, you using 30mg strength? Is my assumption on the strength of 24mg correct, or is it safe to go higher e.g. 36mg available in SA. At what point does the liquid's Nicotene strength become iffy/crazy/dangerous?
It seems to be different for everyone, I like the 30 mg strength because it gives me enough so that I can vape a while and put it down without still craving nic. I usually get the 36 and add a ml of VG for every five that I mix. I also got some 60 mg unflavored that I mix and add flavor to as well. If you get dizzy or get a headache it is a little to high strength, but if you constantly need to vape then you may need an increase.

I had a high tolerance because of the brand I smoked, it might well be to much for many but I can vape less then I smoked breaking the habit of assocciation with activities where I would always light up. Also if you find that you cough a lot while vaping, you may need to cut back a little on the nic. I have read here that many vape 48, but it is too much for me as is straight 36. You will find your own sweet spot sooner then you think.

Hey Doug …
Your flavor problem could be the unit you smoke (stick)…
Have you tried the Janty 510 or Dura (Twisp)
These units seem much cheaper to run – and seems to feel and taste more like an Analogue cig …
Try one – if you have a Twisp kiosk near you – or maybe that non smoker supplier can get you one.

Anyway – the 510 seems to work better for me – with flavors and not needing to light up a-cigs at all anymore.
As I say I used a Stick for 2-3 weeks – and found it ok … but still had occasional a-cig. Also used tons of e-liquid.
I keep and use the stick when I want a lighter smoke…
