My order arrived today.
I do (occasionally) learn from my mistakes so the dairy-based flavors have been sniffed once and they will now hibernate for several weeks. Goodbye Raspberry Cheesecake, Bavarian Creme and Banana Cream Pie. See you soon. (Other than the cheesecake, I'm not sure these flavors do contain dairy but I'm taking no chances.)
But I had to taste my Apple Pie and Fluffernutter.
Apple Pie tastes exactly as expected. There's crust and lots of apples and sweetness. But it's not too sweet -- this is not a gluey mess like a McDonald's apple pie (or a Little Debbie's either.) This is like a homemade pie. I think it will age well.
Fluffernutter - I asked for peanut butter and marshmallow and whatever would do for Wonder bread type white bread. Because the peanut butter will try to dominate, it needs to be a little heavy on the marshmallow.
I've tried a couple of peanut butter cups in the last 7 months and didn't like them. They tasted more like peanut butter and chocolate flavored moth balls to me.
The peanut butter tastes like freshly crushed peanuts. It has a sweetness on the inhale and there's a definite taste of marshmallow on some of the exhales. There's a hint of the bread as well. If it tastes this good when it's only two days old, I think it's going to be great when it's aged a bit and the marshmallow and bread have had a chance to muscle themselves into the foreground (foretongue? foretastebud?)
I thought this would be a one-time purchase, I'd get my craving satisfied and be done with it. Maybe. But a little banana with it would taste very good.
Also, I think that replacing the marshmallow with a sweet fruit flavor would result in an excellent PB&J sandwich.
