I'm headed on a work trip mext week & have to fly with vape gear for the first time. I plan on removing my bottle & storing in a clear plastic bag in my carry on as well as carrying some extra juice in a sealed glass bottle. Anything else I should worry about? I'm wondering how the squonk bottle will do with pressurization in the cabin? Im wondering how TSA is going to look at the Reo since it has no mfr name on it, let's hope they don't think it's a bomb

Sorry to answer with "no answer" but I'm curious too as to what the regulations are now. I think the 3 oz limit should still apply even if the bottle is still in the mod. Last time I took a flight was over a year ago and the only thing I took was a Kanger type tank mod. No issues at that time but since then I've heard "horror" stories about mods not going through TSA. Hope you get the proper answers!

You need to carry on your REO - do not check mods of any kind. Remove the battery and follow regulations for size restrictions for liquids. If it applies to shampoo, it applies to e-liquid.

I travel frequently. I remove my battery, leave my bottle (the one in the REO) half full with liquid and store it upright in my carry on that I keep under the seat in front of me. No issues, no leakes, no problems.

As for the TSA...they see mods all the time and your REO should not be an issue.

I've travelled to a lot of different countries and vaping is almost always a big non-event at security.

* treat e-liquid just like any other liquid in your carry-on. I put a back-up supply in my shaving case with my checked luggage, if I have any.
* keep your batteries (all of them) with you in your carry-on, and note any limit restrictions your carrier might have (some, for example allow only 2 extras). Make sure they are not loose (i.e., put them in a plastic carrying case). It's fine to have one in your mod (just like it's fine to have one in your camera).
* I put the mod in my carry-on bag with a bottle in it.
* take a print-out from Rob's web page with you. I've used that to educate some security people (in Europe, for example).
* I travel with the bottle no more than half full on a plane - the lowered pressurization of the cabin at altitude can cause autosquonking with a full bottle.

They see a lot in their jobs and are much more informed than the average guy on the street. Even if one isn't sure, chances are they'll call others over and someone will get it. Remember, you're doing nothing wrong and their only concern is safety on the plane (as opposed to, say, taxation or regulation).

I keep everything in Pelican 1150, if I wanted to stuff it really full I could get 9 60ml bottles of juice and 2 REO Grand's in. It's about the size of a 5 inch thick IPad. I make sure it's upright in whatever I'm carrying when I'm on a plane. Normally it's just a road trip juice carrier that's almost as sturdy as carrying it in my REO's.:)

I fly a bit, with a reo.
In the airport parking lot, I switch to an EMPTY bottle, and remove the battery.
Batteries, juice and reo all are in carryon. Juice bottle is in a baggie. Battery in battery box.

I wrap a bit of paper towel around the atty, in case there's enough juice left somewhere (tube or whatever) to come out an airhole. I HAVE found juice on that paper towel...

Never had ANY trouble with TSA, despite having tubes that look like little pipebombs, and a Reo that looks like a detonator, stuffed into a bag with a bunch of other electronic who-knows-what.

If not - just "isolate" them. A battery in ANY kind of case, so it can't touch anything metal - that'll be fine...

Awesome guys! Thanks for all the tips! I just ordered a couple of cases for my batteries, I hope they get here in time, if not I'll need to hit my local B&M.

Sounds like you've got your answer. I concur that it is a non-issue.

I just returned from a quick trip to No. Minnesota. I kept my trusty Reo (1/2 full bottle, battery in it and locked) in my fanny pack with a paper towel around it so if it leaked due to change in cabin pressure, I wouldn't have a mess. I sent it thru security with all of my carry on items (including bottles of e-liquid with my other liquids) and the only thing said by one TSA person was "oh, that's what I thought it was," after she looked at the screen intently.

I went thru TSA at a large international airport as well as a dinky one. Easy peezy. The other cool thing about having your Reo friend on you is that it is handy for a quick, discreet bathroom Vape whenever possible (shhh....don't tell).

I travelled all over the US and Canada with my vape gear and never had an issue once. My batteries were all in battery cases and the mods I wasn't using had the batteries taken out... and both were in my carry on luggage. My juice and other paraphernalia were in my check in luggage. I also pretty much vaped everywhere I went and if I was in an area that maybe wouldn't like vaping I would take a small puff and hold it in and almost no vapor would be exhaled.

Heh - yep, I ghosted my vaping like this while on a recent 11 hour flight right at my seat (night flight, wife next to me for cover).

Just be careful vaping in the bathroom. If you start chucking clouds, it can set off the smoke detection system which means a quick landing and an even quicker departure from the aircraft escorted by a few folks in uniform. A better solution is to just grab one of the blankets and pull it up over your head so that folks think you are sleeping. Stealth vape away to your hearts content. It also works well in hospitals, sleep studies, etc. :thumb:

I also packed and checked an itty bitty Phillips head screw driver (the kind that come in a set and size approved by guidelines), a few inches of wire and another Grand (without battery or liquid in bottle), as back-ups. And of course, I didn't need any back-up but at least my mind was relieved.

When in a restroom, I always hold my Vape in until there is no visible vapor. (I used to be a contentious smoker as well). Who knows, someone might not like the smell of mint? But I do wonder whether or not a smoke detector would pick it up if it is only vapor and not smoke? Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to test it on a plane but I am curious.

Most importantly, have a great trip!
