My reason as well for quitting. There is something about that twist in life that can have a tremendous impact. So proud of you and your grandson is so cute. Congrats.

Patty Thanx so much, he has certainly impacted my life. I cant wait to tell him he is the reason I stopped smoking. He is already a pretty smart little fella, I cant wait for him to get older and at the same time I want him to stay a baby as long as possible. I hope I didn't wait to long to quit. I want to be here for him I have gained a lot of knowledge in my life and I want him to know every bit of it.

Once my son got old enough to understand, I always let him know that HE is the reason I could never, ever go back to using drugs -- thankfully I had stopped a few months before I got pregnant, and after that, I never had the desire to use again. Drinking took a little longer, till he was 4, but again, he was a LARGE part of the decision -- thinking of a 4 yr old without a mom made me clean up my act! :thumb:

I'm happy happy happy today I found a hana mod clone in stock and its on the way to my door. I am big on warm vape and have been pushing my SVD and VTR to there max at 15Watts. I have been trying to get one of the DNA30 chips to build my own mod for, but refuse to be price gouged for it, so maybe when I get this unit if I don't like the feel I'll strip it out and use the chip in my own build. I'm starting to have some clear time to get into my machine shop and I have some metal OTW, so in the next few months I'll be building custom atomizers and battery mech mods. I am a DIYer and get great satisfaction from using stuff I build myself. The best part is I get to make it the way want it to be giving all the features many others lack, since I'm somewhat of a perfectionist it will also be quality stuff.

I've been working the last four weeks in a very stressful environment. I've honestly thought about bumming a smoke here & there. My gear appeared to be working correctly, but I decided to replace the coil in my Kanger AeroTank & wow... what a difference.

Hey Brother keep at it. Its tuff at times especially with work pressure, like family and daily life isn't enough. staying the course is what makes us who we are. Improvise, adapt , overcome, works to live by. Sounds like you found a way to overcome, Bravo feels good to beat the demons doesn't it.

Building coils is a great way to mentally combat the urge to smoke they take concentration and time to make so its a good use of brain power I have about 30 wound and ready to go. I also bough a small atomizer and have been building a different coil on it everyday to test all the designs as well as try some designs I have been working on of my own.

I *finally* ordered some ceramic-tipped tweezers, so I can *finally* make a TRUE micro-coil... my coils work just fine, but the wraps sure don't stay together. Using the ceramic-tipped, I can squeeze them together WHILE I'm firing them, so maybe they'll actually stay together!

Andria the coils will still move slightly apart from one another, it will be a very small amount of separation between the wraps like a hair gap. if you think about it, it has to otherwise the coil would be shorting wrap to wrap. The separation is the result of the wire expanding during the heat up the coil wraps push each other away basically and when it contracts as it cools its left in the position. I have heard it said that the wire builds a layer of oxide on it that cause the separation it and keeps it from shorting. This isn't so true as if you touch the coils wraps with metal while reading the ohms it certainly will short wrap to wrap. Squeezing the coil while its firing is the same as shorting it so I would not do that, give it a tight squeeze rite after you let the button go and hold it till a count of 10 usually does the trick.

Thanks Joe!

I've just started vaping pretty recently, and your tips really help. I feel like I'm slowly getting my life back, and it's always nice to hear some encouraging messages!

*sigh*

Yeah, I do that, and this is how it ends up:

But a true microcoil, they ARE touching, that's why they heat up so fast.

they look like they are touching yes but they are really separated by the thickness of a hair or less they have to be otherwise the coil is a straight shot lead to lead and the resistance would be way low scary sub ohm .01, if it had any resistance at all. Try this trick to keep them together, wrap your coil as tight together as you can, slide it off the drill bit, squeeze it together with tweezers just enough to compress it but not squish is, hold it there and heat it up with a lighter or torch till its red, hold it till it cools the let it go, it should hold that tightness fairly well. reinsert the drill bit and leave the bit in the coil until its completely tightened down to the atomizer. then slowly slide while twisting the bit from the coil. you should now have a nice compact coil that can be heated to glowing red and squeezed gently tighter together even further, but remember its not going to be touching completely even though it may appear that way.

The best way to see what I'm talking about is build the coil clip the leads to a multimeter on the ohms scale it will read lets say 1.5 ohms leave the leads tethered to the meter and squeeze the coils together the resistance will lower to 0 or very close to it

ditto much of that. I smoked 10 packs a week for 30 years and quit 6 times - for 4 to 80 days. Now I'm nearly a month without smoking but using the vapor this time. Seems do-able to have no smoke if I can have the vapor. Maybe i'll cut down/out the nicotine too but I'll worry about that later, its the other crap in the smoke that was the biggest problem.

Yeah still physically addicted to nicotine AND still have the psycho-emotional habits. Cigarette time gives you permission to / denotes a time when you can ..... fill in the blank. An excuse to think about other things, change mental lanes, take a walk, let yourself relax, let the phone go to message - etc. Need to ID those things and un-link them from cigarette-time. Are you waiting 15 minutes to get past a physical-addiction nicotine thing? or is there some other - habit - cig-linked thing its time for but has always gone along with a cigarette? E.G. feals like time for a cigarette and a walk - but I can't let myself have the cigarette .... so - no walk either? needs to become time for a walk just without the cigarette.

But I'm just rambling, I never really quit in 30 years so my thoughts on the matter are just worth $0.02.

My father-in-law set up a speed-bag - little punching bag - when he fealt he really needed a smoke he'd punch it - just once or twice. Somehow that helped him.

Regards

I got my Hana clone today and IM HAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPY as a pig in slop. 30 watt vapes are so warm and wow what vapor production it makes. I settled in on 24watts using my kayfuns at 1.2 ohms the warmth is so incredible an the juice tastes even better IMO. I'm gonna build one of my KFL+ units at 2ohms later just for this device its my understanding that higher watts shine in the higher ohm end. We will see.

I figured I would add what helped me to all this also, I was a 2 pack a day smoker by the time I decided to quite and give vaping a real go at it I did most if not all the things epicdoom, JayC, and Shelzmike talked about (wish I had their posts in the first days and weeks) then found out about vape tongue and did what Slots talked about (wish I had that post would have saved me a week of anguish, thank goodness ECBlend has a lot of good info pages on their site). About two weeks into vaping I had a real bad day and went and got a pack started to smoke one and it was so gross I put it right out (still have the pack months later), but the one think I also did that has helped me on top of the GREAT advice on this thread is remind myself the world is not going to come to an end if I have one analog (remember I said I still have that pack) but you know I don't WANT it. I have been coming to this forum for months but just joined today because I have kind of used this site as my support group for lack of a better term. Good luck in your journey
On a side note I wish the Admin's would think of moving this thread to the "Sticky Threads" area for all new comers to see this would have been evaluable help to me THANK YOU epicdoom !!!

Me too! Went in my car today, and I can smell old odor from me smoking in the car. I havent smoke in my car for almost a month.

Change the air filter/filters in your car
Check the manual, some cars have two filters
As long as the smoky filter is in there, you will smell it.
Took my car into the dealership shop to have it changed, and they said it only had one ...:censored:
After still smelling it, I checked the manual, and sure enough, there was a second filter behind the glovebox.
Changed it, and no more stink.

My73thing Great little vehicle there my brother Had one in California when I was on base at camp Pendleton was an awesome vehicle.
Thank you I am glad my experiences have found a way to help in some way, I will have 10 weeks under my belt tomorrow. Never thought Id ever say that. Reading posts here and helping others here has been a godsend for me and has helped me continue to remain smoke free. Not sure how a sticky becomes a sticky My guess is ask the admin. If you need anything shoot me a PM or post here I'll help anyway I can.

10 WEEKS smoke free, I cant believe its here. I'm so happy I put in a preorder for a new 26650 kayfun lol. I will be dropping my Nicotine level to 4mg tomorrow so I spent a couple hours making up so juice for it today. I have been doing well on the 5mg dose for 2 weeks no issues other then a night or 2 waking up in the middle of the night. I usually sleep pretty sound through the night so the lower nic has to be the problem. I will probably stay at 4mg for 2 weeks and see how it goes. Had a great day with the misses out fishing caught and released many Largemouth Bass. She caught the lunker for the day so I had to spring for lunch, couple Shrimp po boys and a nice cold Corona I think it was worth loosing.
