:p

I will gladly say that you can have a good and satisfying vape on a cheap setup. Some more expensive ones aren't even worth the price difference (some are though) and today you can get good devices at an incredible price.

But please let's not pretend that nobody got ear cancer from listening to that pos garbage toy they try to sell as a guitar.
There's also vapes that are cheap and you cannot in any way get a remotely good vape from, I remember some throw away cigalikes from a few years ago. That guitar shaped thingy is the crappy cigalike you don't want.

Sorry to rant but it really is your fault for putting that sound into my ears :D

HahHAaaa! But if I had the choice to listen to this guy with his cars guitar and someone who couldn't play a note with a 1950's d-35....I'd pick this guy .
Plus, he said "and the Barbies go wild!". That scored him big points in my book .

I have a rule that I absolutely will not break. No battery device will hit my cart unless it is $50 shipped and no atty will unless it is $25 shipped. If I can't get a good hit from the resulting combo--whatever it may be--then it's my own damned fault.

Of my three guitars, my favorite is a Jay Turser Ovation clone.

I didn't pay $300 for my mod because it vapes better than my $40 mod. They vape pretty much identical.

Regulated mods all do the same thing, aesthetic and features aside (which are more or less standard now), there's no difference in the experience.

While it may be true, some expensive mods may have slight performance differences. But are they really that big of a deal? Not for me. I can't tell the difference with an extra hundredth of a second in ramp up time, or the extra 10% battery efficiency.

The reason why I pay $300 over $40 is for the warranty, reliability, and life expectancy.

Based on watching technical reviewers that put mods on an oscilloscope and measure accuracy there seems to be a definite difference in accuracy between most cheap mods, and their $100+ counterparts. Yes the "warranty, reliability, and life expectancy" is a nice bonus too.

I think the point may have gotten lost with some of the more literal, self appointed masters of the internet....

The point was you don't NEED an expensive mod to get a great vape .

The point wasn't 'are some mods better than others'. Sheesh

You might should have pointed out that it was a metaphor. I clicked the link expecting some awesome new cheap mod being demoed.

I have 5 mods, all of which are pretty cheap and all have worked great, no issues. I have 4 electric guitars...all of which are not what I would call cheap but they aren't top of the line stuff. I love them all. Then I have my Martin 000-28H. Before buying the Martin I went through 4 acoustic small body type guitars looking for that Martinesque feel and sound. I eventually broke down and bought the Martin. I do love it the best among all my guitars.

Moral of the story is: Sometimes it's this and sometimes it's that.

My first "high end" mod was a pristine used Greek mech and I dropped it five feet onto cement the day I got it, leaving road rash on the aluminum bottom cap. It still hurts to think about dropping "my precious". Lesson learned.

I also got in on the first batch of Protanks and Evods to hit the states, thinking they would be a game changer. Not for me, and I won't be an alpha tester for makers again.

I like high quality and durability at a low price, which means snagging clearance and used. Research, patience and a willingness to pull the trigger when a deal presents itself are all it takes. ECF is a wonderful resource to help one eliminate finicky and crappy gear at any price point. I am fortunate to vape for pennies on the dollar and worry a lot less about losing or dropping my setups.

Value and price are two very different things IMO.

Not for me.
If the mod is cheap, tacky and nasty I can’t suddenly switch off some of my senses.
If it looks cheap, I don’t like it. If it feels cheap, I don’t like it.

A lot of my stuff I don’t like...

Kind of annoying and expensive for me, but it is what it is.

The way I see it, If you are first starting out, and unsure if vaping will even work to get you off of cigarettes then cheap devices are the only sensible option. After you have been off them for a while then more expensive devices make more sense. I smoked a pack to a pack and a half a day, so that is about $250 to $300 a month. If you buy a $350 Vicious Ant per se and use it for a year, that is a 90% discount over smoking. I DIY and found a site where I can get enough liquid for a year for $40 so that is more money for devices. If you have a really nice mod, and you are proud of it and will tend to take much better care of it. If the minikin gets me through the whole year, Ithink I will reward myself with something that puts a big smile on my face every time I use it. Not that it doesn't but there is a difference between a workhorse and a thoroughbred...
