Hey all!!

Couple things first, my mom smoked when she was preggers with me, both parents smoked in the house, I started at 14 and wound up 3 packs a day by my early 20's.

I managed to quit cold turkey and not smoke for 8 years, then picked it up again and eventually found my way to pipe smoking--which I still partake of about once a month or so.

I saw that Johnny Depp movie with the e-cig, I had no idea they made "vapor" that's what sold me, I ran out to the smoke shops and I'm not sure what I have, so some technical advice would be great.

I bought one starter kit for about 20 bucks white box with green lettering, brand name "Smoker Smart Choice" and another called "green smart living".

Both batteries take the same cartridges and I pretty much want to stick to re-juicing them myself as that seem to be the economical way to go, just no idea what I have!

Thanks.

Rob.

What you have is a great start, but it would be much easier to get a PV that is actually going to suit your needs. The kiosk and gas station e-cigs are not the best quality and usually only come with one battery so you have nothing to use while it recharges.

vaping isn't as easy as just changing brands of cigarettes either, it takes commitment, and money, it is messy and can be frustrating at times.

There are several different styles of e-cigs that are recommended and supported by ECF suppliers, most of the kiosk and gas station brands are not supported by suppliers, the parts are harder to find and they are often rebranded so as to make them hard to identify.

I would look into at the forum suppliers sites and find a 510/eGo or KR808D-1/Volt both of those models are great for beginners, relatively cheap, and use the same connections that high end PVs use.

Being a 3 PAD smoker it is very likely you will need something much better than what you have. For a begginer, at a minimum, I would at least start out with a RIVA 510 or 901 or an E-Power. Here are some well supported suppliers for those devices:

E Liquid - E Liquid 5ML - PG - Tobaccos

e-Power

I would suggest considering how you smoked to consider one of the best 5 volt models from:

Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Do the Green Smart Living have a removable cap? If they don't, you might be able to fill them from the battery end.

You have a family in Utah that owns honeyvillevapor.com, gourmetvapor.com and a bulk nic business (Box Elder). Honeyville is having a sale on their 5 ml juice right now - the price changes to 39 cents each at checkout. I would buy some of those and look up "condom carto refilling" - you can push the juice up through the threaded end. The only issue might be that your batteries are automatic and you could kill them by getting juice inside, so you would want to be very conservative on refilling, and probably let them sit overnight (and blow out any excess liquid).

Two questions then:

1. Is e-juice universal? i.e. it can be used with any e-cig?

2. What is the difference between a Cartomizer and an Atomizer?

1. Yes, but some 100% VG juices are very thick and a bit more difficult to work with.

2. A cartomizer is a cartridge and atomizer all-in-one. I believe what you are describing as your equipment is a 2-piece unit that uses a cartomizer and a battery.

Two questions then:

1. Is e-juice universal? i.e. it can be used with any e-cig?

2. What is the difference between a Cartomizer and an Atomizer?

1. Pretty much, yeah. You fill up your empty cartomizers/cartridges or drip it onto an atty and you're good.

2. An atomizer is the heating coil element, there's usually a wick and a bridge included. The reason why is you get cartridges to go with them, which the wick then carries the juice to the atomizer from the bridge which serves as a contact point. So an atomizer is either a 2-piece set up (Atomizer+cartridge) or you can toss the cartridge and direct drip into the atty. A Cartomizer is an atomizer and a cartridge in one piece, at the cost of some reuseability (The filling part tends to wear down faster than the heating coil)

Basically, Atomizers are two parts (Atty + Cartridge or Atty + Drip Tip) and a Carto is one piece.

You're definitely going to want something better than your convenience store VPs very soon (Don't feel bad, I started with the same thing you have), so start checking out some gear. I suggest an eGo or a Riva, but if you want something that resembles an analog cigarette, go with either a Joye 510 or a KR808 (I have an eGo, Riva, and a Joye 510 - they're all good). Also check out the 6 part thread The Wonderful World of Vaping.

And welcome! It's a great choice you've made :)

Yes, but that kit is not much better than what you are using. If you want your e-cigarette to look like a cigarette, go with a Volt or a Bloog.

If you can handle your e-cigarette looking like a Sharpie marker, get a Riva SE from Liberty-Flights.com (20% discount in upper left corner) and some Boge 2.0 cartomizers.

Thanks everyone!! I think I'm going to grab this one: 510 PCC KIT

Looking at the kit, I'm assuming these are all refillable with e-juice, am I correct?

For a heavy vaper, those small batteries will only last you maybe an hour. If you are not going to get a better battery model then make sure you get 5-6 of the small 510 batteries because you are going to be changing them out quite often. And definitely get manual batteries NOT automatic batteries.

If that starter kit isn't of the best quality could someone recommend a higher quality similar setup--i.e. charger/pack.

Thx.

Cigarette sized devices will all have the same issues. The one you have is probably better than most. Heavy smokers mostly use better PV's with much better batteries, such as the GLV2. Is the tiny battery look more important than performance, that's the question.

Hello and welcome.

It isn't so much quality as performance. Refer back to post #3. Best Wishes. :)

Sorry I see you want something with a charger pack. Nevermind. Of course with those you wouldn't need one.

The unit you linked to is most likely the same as what you're using. At the least you may want to consider an Ego, Riva or clone with 1000 mAh or higher batteries. I think they're up to 1300 mAh now. They're like holding a fat sharpie pen between your fingers in size, much better vape and lasts all day or two. Or go full-on mod like a GLV2 or other quality, mods that offer a lifetime-warranty.
