It's happened to me 3 times in a little over 2 years. It started when I started vaping and purchasing vaping supplies on line here in the USA. I've contacted a few of the vendors and mentioned I suspected the CC processors they were using is where the fraud was originating but they have not done anything about it. I'd like to keep supporting USA vendors but they don't seem to care. So I've started buying ecig supplies overseas using Paypal and I've not had a problem yet. When the USA vendors realize they are loosing a lot of business (money) that's when they'll do something about the CC fraud that has been happening but until that happens I'll continue to buy overseas using Paypal.

This has happened to me THREE times in ONE year..... while I won't name specific eCig company names (because I use so many!)... what I CAN tell you is that it's not a question of 'if' your CC info will be compromised, but WHEN. The most RECENT compromise happened on a 'new' CC replacement that I had issued in January of this year.... made it to March before it was compromised. :glare:

My advice to all is WATCH those accounts DAILY.... report them/CLOSE THEM immediately and try not to use anything other than Pre-paids and Gift Cards for your online eCig needs.

Add me to this list. I got hit twice in the last 2 months. Paypal debit was caught before any purchases were made a month ago and the fraudulent charges today got through. I only order from 2 companies. The charges today were on a card that is only 2 months old. I won't say their names, but both companies are very popular. The card that was hit today has only been used for in person purchases at local stores other than the 2 online businesses. I am suspicious to say the least. I dont think they are doing the charges, but their security or employees may be compromised.

My card got hacked too...

I am done with vaping...going back to cigarettes, this is ridiculous

Don't be ridiculous. I've done hundreds of credit card buys for ecig stuff and have never had a fraudulent charge.
Get the charges reversed, inform the seller then shop somewhere else.
What stupid reason to keep smoking.

What am I suppose to do? I can't keep buying stuff and hope my card does not get hacked, and get a new card all the time

Luckily my card called me up and noticed fraudulent charges. I only ordered from 2 different places and it was not ecigexpress, so must be a major issue with all online ecig to get this many complaints.

I have been buying stuff online for years, and never once have I got mine stolen like this.

I am not going to get a prepaid card, not sure what else to do.

But you'll go back to smoking??

Got a B&M store near you? Why no prepaid card? How about an account with little money in it - maybe an off-shoot of your original debit card/checking acct w/o overdraft and you just transfer money as needed? Can't get blood from a stone right?

But going back to smoking - why? Isn't that just throwing your money (and health) away too?

Personally I am torn with who is ultimately responsible, but I do not want to smoke again, you know? Just sayin'

I live in NY unless anyone knows of a store who sells eqliuid and supplies? I don't except the blue and njoy in local gas station.

Pre-paid is a real pita to have to worry and get filled up.

All in all moving to vaping for me has been more of a hassle then anything between my credit card stolen, finding out certain juices are bad for your health, having to clean and recoil or buy multiple heads. It becomes a project in of itself.

This was just the last straw for me, I mean the main reason I switched to vaping was to save money from the ridiculous price of cigarettes in NY $10-11 depending upon where you go. I figured I try switching and if it helps me quit down the road great. But it turns out this is becoming just as expensive if not more. I mean I spent already $100-120 in just 2 weeks. I could have had 10 packs of smokes with that and I only smoke 1-2 packs a week.

When my bank fraud dept did call me, they said ordering from ecig places is asking for trouble and they have seen this rise tremendously with fraud with these places, and told me to stay away from these type of sites.

Ecig's have got me off analogs and for that I'm gratefull. All this CC fraud related to online ecig purchases has turned what should be fun into a PIA! So for the past couple of months I've curtailed my ecig purchases to only Paypal accepting vendors most of who reside overseas. When it stops being fun well.......
With the money I've saved I've purchased other non ecig stuff such as a new cell phone and accessories and such.
If I'm curtailing ecig purchases because of CC fraud I think many other people are also doing the same.
The ecig vendors need to get off their azzs and try to fix this CC fraud (more than likely my guess is that CC processors is where fraud is occuring). I still think though, that they will stay with the status quo until they start loosing enough business that they will need to take action if they want to stay in business.

I am on my third credit card within a month. My credit card company has called me about small pending charges (these charges were from companies that have nothing to do with Ecig vendors) on my account that were not mine. But on my credit card statement there were several purchases from various Ecig internet stores. It is getting so I am afraid to buy any Ecig supplies. I was told that one of the companies that processes credit card payments may have been hacked. I am not blaming the vendors themselves, but where they process their transactions.

Any suggestions to what can be done ?

I had $2300 worth of pc hardware fraudulently charged to one of my credit cards from somewhere in Eastern Europe. I think they got my card info from a site I used to buy blank cd/dvds from. All I had to do was sign a piece of paper saying I did not make the charges. It was hardly an inconvenience at all.
I have this:
https://www.kaiku.com/
It says it's a prepaid card but it isn't, its actually a checking account that costs only $1.85 a month. I only put enough money into it to cover my online purchases.
There are many ecig sites that have not been hacked. Suggest you visit here
Requests for Opinions/Reviews
and ask for some help and here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reviews-suppliers-negative/ to see if anyone else has had credit card issues with with the vendors you bought from.
I had no trouble clearing up my $2300 fraudulent charge. You're going to go back to smoking over far less money than that I'll bet.
There are plenty of tools and information on this site for those who really want to stop smoking. You just have to make the effort to use them. Did you take the time to read this entire thread? Did you read this particular post?

I'ts free! If your card number gets stolen you'll be able to say you're sure the problem didn't originate on your pc.

I got hit last week for about $1000 in fraudulent charges on my Discover card. Wasn't the first time, won't be the last...because I'm not about to stop shopping online - that's just crazy talk.

One call to Discover and all was taken care of in 2 minutes, new cards over-nighted to me and I was shopping online (for vape gear) the very next day. :p

Ugggh, more credit card fraud! Bought some new gear from Vapor4Life and some juice from Halo over the Memorial Day sale. Today, a $761.00 charge from Walmart.com. This was a new card too. I'm disgusted. I don't drive, so picking up prepaid cards is a hassle. I'll probably just have to buy what I need on the classifieds using Paypal. :(

Maybe this will work for you.... I've obtained a PayPal prepaid card and haven't had any fraud activity since I obtained this. The 'plus' to this Prepaid card is once you obtain your account, in addition to the regular debit card you can use a 'virtual' card for online transactions.... the 'virtual' card number expires in 30 days so if anyone hacks into that 'limited funds' account they're not likely to cause as much financial damage.... and you still have your physical debit card that won't have to be cancelled because of it having a different account number. The biggest CON to having the PayPal PrePaid Card is the $4.95 monthly fee...... small price to pay for peace of mind.

I really appreciate this thread.... I'm building a 'list' of on line Vendors that I will think twice about before using. Their 'passing the buck' attitudes may placate them, but it pacifies me not. :glare:
