mine from what I can see is leaking out at the bottom. I guess around the positive post that sticks down. I think there is a seal around there.

OK.

So how does the e-liquid get to the Bottom?

Is it coming out of what ever seals the tank of is it coming out the Center Hole?

i'm not sure what you mean, if I blow on it, I can make some come out, the liquid ends up on the metal next to the positive pin. I don't think there is a hole in that pin, but at any rate, it appears to be coming right from where the pin meets the metal base.

if what is said is true that its just flowing and flowing even when not being sucked on, like when you do the hose from a fish tank and suck it to get started and it keeps going, then doesn't that mean at the top or something, there should be an air hole or something to break that action?

It is definitely leaking out inside the battery connection part somewhere...I can't tell if it is the center post or around the sides. I have never been able to observe it leaking...it's more like a "juice dump" than a leak...and it always does it when I set it down and leave the room.

Maybe they just get lonely....

I did have two sitting upright in my pencil jar all night last night, and neither one flooded out on me. So they are in a better mood today I guess.

See now were getting somewhere.

If the Carto is filled just below where the wicks are, does it Leak?

What I'm trying to figure out is if the e-Lquid is comeing thru the wicks, needs wick fluffing, of is it leaking at the base without getting into the center of the carto.

I can't believe I forgot to mention the methods I used to fill...

The first two times on Saturday, I used the bottle kit with the pipette/needle type nipple tip... basically the method first described in the vid to tilt the C8 on it's side and I filled it slowly. At this time, I had only read this thread up to the previous weekend ( when I had ordered it )... and before anyone had received the C8. The first fill worked as it should with some minor dry hits and no leak... it was only after the second fill that I had experienced the major leak... but the method I used was identical to the first as far as I could tell.

After the leak happened... I set the unit aside before attempting to fill it again... I figured I needed to catch up on the last week's worth of posts to see what I may have done incorrectly or perhaps if I had missed a step somewhere. At this time... I found out that the first fill method was a possible culprit... so I got out my syringe and a blunt type of needle, I filled it slowly and again... I had no leaks but the dry hits did seem to be a lot more common as I mentioned. It was late before I got to this point and I wanted to play with the Vorando I had also ordered... I used the C8 on the Vorando and this was how I found that the dry hits happened more often at 3.7v and 4v's.

Today... after I got some time to piddle with the C8... I emptied it and pulled it apart to mod the wick. I reassembled and filled it with a syringe again. When using the syringe, I am filling it while inverted and doing it slowly. I had worked as a veternary assistant long ago, so I naturally remove the air from a syringe without even thinking about it... I'm pretty certain that I didn't pull back on the syringe to remove any pressure though.. it isn't a good practice with animals LOL... and I must have missed reading about that idea until just now. Either way... after this last fill... the leaking had returned. I caught it after it had lost about 1/2 of the fill. OH.... I also believe my needle was showing about 1/4 of the way into the C8, not far in by my own standards but still further than what badkola just mentioned none the less.

I'll probably fill it again, using the same 80/20 pg/vg but from a differnet vendor ... just so I'm not chancing loosing some of my favorite flavored liquids. I'll do this later this evening after I get a few more domestics done as well as mowing the lawn and get dinner out of the way... this way I can watch it closer than I did earlier.

No Carto wants to Leak when they are being Watched. They like to "Take a Leak" in Private.

Not sure about that, but I do know it is coming out from inside the threaded area, not outside anywhere.

randy please keep us informed, its very hard to determine what the cause is for those that get leaking versus the ones that have no leaking issues versus the ones that leaked but now are fixed after filling them upside down, some could be just bad qc but the question is where, obviously the c8 is built well and is strong and well thought out so that isnt the qc, and maybe its not QC thats the issue versus many being made by a line of people and not all will line the wick up the same way when sliding the carto back on, meaning they might not even know, just putting it together not realizing it has to either be a certain lentgh etc...

i can have the factory make adjustments if we come up with something that will help the ones with issues when the cause is found.

in my case, i've had it sit for an hour filled up, then i can be smoking for half hour and its fine, then sit it down and it leaks, its kind of random so it would be hard to tell if its getting past the wicks. but if it was just flowing through the wicks, it would flood, which they don't appear to be doing so my guess would be some type of pressure or something that builds up and then whoosh it all comes out. And honestly with the 50/50 liquid I use and the fact that one emptied when I put it down to go to the bathroom, and also that it doesn't leak other times tells me that it couldn't be coming through the wick, there has to be some pressure build up causing it to push the 50/50 out, otherwise it would leak just sitting there at other times, but since its random, something has to be causing it to push this stuff out.

I'll be happy too... I love how well constructed the C8 is and the flavor of the vape is great ( when it isn't dry hitting of course )... obviously the only way to get the issues addressed is to get to the bottom of what is causing them..

The idea that it may be that it is siphoning the liquid out... sounds logical... with one thing I can think of against it... usually a siphon starts immediately and doesn't wait until later. The two times I had a leak, it didn't seem to start immediately after I set my PV down... perhaps it is just starting as a trickle though.

I filled my first tank upside down w/ 50/50 and it leaked overnight upright. Filled the 2nd tank yesterday with Boba's 100% vg upside down and no more leaking. I do get alot of dry hits in the beginning but gone after 1/4 tank. now i can pretty much chain vape. i think the air pressure is balanced now in the tank. I am using an ego batt. I will post update on the 3rd tank.

May be have the factory use a different tip, one that screws down without sealing and pushing pressure through, rather a silicone seal that seals upon seating.
This way you can eliminate the inner seal, and the face seal, then a simple anti-siphon type valve (simple flap of silicone on top of a hole in the tip) and then we are in business!

Yeah, this is how you get to the Bottom of things.

Ok. If a Person tells me that a Carto is Leaking but the Cup Isn't Flooded, I would tend to Focus on the who the Center Tube is Sealed to the Battery Connector.

If it Leaks and then I'm told that the Cup is Flooded, I'd think that the e-Liquid in Coming in thru the Wick Openings.

yes well im no scientists so not sure if its pressure and syphoning, but osmething is forcing them to leak on some

like the phoenix, if you fill it upside down like in jans video you CAN NOT MAKE IT LEAK, its sealed in there until its empty.
but if you fill it sideways and dont check air bullbles and dont fill all the way, it will leak right away or eventually over a half tank full, but when filled properly(and its fully sealed so that helps) you cant make it leak, so she is on to something

I'd be curious to see someone who has one that Leaks try filling on and setting it upright without seals or Tip in it.

Does it Leak now. And if it does, does it leak Faster?
