Considered a Provari, actually, even though I know that was a "fanboy" crack... LOL... I've been around the forums, watched all of Grimm and Phil's videos, etc... Went with the Boges and J-Tanks based on Phil's love for them, actually... Just can't seem to get it, though... Don't know if it's the wicking or the filler changing the flavor or what... It's all killing me... Now I give up on the tanks and move on to something else again, there's another plethora of wasted money and useless gear sitting around...

A ProVari won't fix the kind of frustration you are describing. Screwing a burned out lightbulb into a different lamp isn't going light up the room. I don't have any suggestions for you, since it appears you have already tried everything I use, but I don't want to see you spend money on another mod and still be disappointed.

I definitely don't dislike the VMOD, but like I said, the Vapage attys have been extremely inconsistent... One lasted a month solid... Next completely died after a week... Then a sputterer... Rotating 2 now and they seem ok... Just got 2 from each Empire and Cisco, so maybe I just am not meant to use tubes...

I'm new to bottom-feeders, so I don't know what "use tubes" means. I'm using Joyetech 306 (1.5Ω) attys and Smoktech shorty 1.7Ω cartos on mine; I like to stay in the low rent district. ;)

I hear ya... Appreciate the input, though! Definitely not getting any new mods til I get the delivery kinks worked out... If anything, this has served to ease my frustration a lot and chill me out a bit... Just have to keep playing around til I find "it", whatever "it" is...

My wife also makes a very valid and logical point about juice tasting bad when it's being compared to a burning cigarette... Don't really think about it like that, though...

It's pretty obvious to me. You need something simple. Get two spinners two or three Evods at 2.4 ohm and a good Ry4 like the one from Crystal liquid. Start at 12mg and go up or down dependon on your cravings.
Buy some extra coils for the Kanger Evods, make sure they ate originals.

Change coils every 4 days until you learn to dry burn them.

Bob's your uncle with this setup.

Once you learn how to maintain your gear graduate to something more complex.

Considered this, but don't recall ever seeing any... Have to look around... Or even just plain menthol, maybe... Maybe my taste buds just completely suck for some reason...

if you like menthol give green Ice a try from mt baker vapor. about 3 months into vaping I got "vapors tongue." no juice tasted good. I ordered a small bottle of green Ice (green apple Menthol) despite my wife curling her nose at the sound of it. It woke up my taste buds and it is now my favourite juice. Its actually my wifes favourite as well.

When I go out, I take a tank with me, but at home I rotate. I'm not disappointed, but I'm easily bored. Right now on my desk I have a bottom-feeder with a LR carto, another with a LR atty, a VV tube mod with a tank and a VW tube mod I'm dripping. I vape them randomly - did I mention that I'm easily bored?

are you priming your cartos correctly? the most common user error is not priming them enough and firing at a high current (8w is a lot) and inevitably burning the cotton wicking material inside the carto. this will alter the taste and performance of your carto. boge's are among the best cartos i've tried and you should not write them off. im not a carto-tank guy but when im out at night or driving, it is a must for convenience.

when the carto's completely primed and saturated from top to bottom, it should automatically pull in more juice from the punched hole without a problem. if you're still having wicking issues, punch a second hole. that should fix it. though you have to be careful not to over punch. too big of a hole and you can flood your carto and have your ejuice spit out into your mouth. BUT you can fix that by inhaling slow and steady.

another issue my friends had is air flow. they had a carto-tank on an ego with the ego-sleeve screwed up flush to the bottom of the tank. this will choke the air flow and limit how much air you can draw. this issue combined with the incorrectly-primed carto burned their filling material which explains why their vape tasted burnt.

hope that helps. keep on trying!

Smoked Marlboro menthol lights for years, so menthol is definitely my thing... Thanks for the referral... I'll check that out...

I'm currently using ProVaris with protanks mainly
This. For consistency and ease of use, this is the best combo. It costs a bit at the outset, but it's so easy to maintain and you get the same vape every time. I've had the same Protank on my Provari for 2 weeks and it's still going strong - have not needed to even replace the head.

For me the hardest part has been finding the right juice. Please don't give up. Get a consistent reliable mod and topper and keep trying juices till one "fits." If you are craving a cigarette and the vape isn't cutting it after you have the right equipment, it will just be a matter of adjusting nicotine levels.

Remember - you are doing this to save your own life. How much are you willing to do to that end? I think that puts it in perspective. You are worth it.

you need to be making sure that your cartos are staying saturated while using them. if it starts to taste a little off, take a few hard dry pulls through them or drop more liquid in the top, then try it again.

Been doing that... Some of them wick awesome... Some dry right out... But either way, they just don't taste the way they should... Have cartos from 3 different vendors, too... All punched the same... Maybe burning too hot, as suggested... Maybe just not a carto person... Time will tell, I guess...

Priming with the condom method and letting them sit for a few minutes... Learned that early on... Never had a problem burning the filler yet...
