Frustrated Cleaning 510 attys

I've been vaping for going on a year and a half. The first 1/2ish of the year I soaked, boiled, saturated, blew through and scrubbed. The results were almost always a burnt taste, finish gone, juice in my mouth, or broken insides, or not able to get a solvent out enough to use. My cleaning caused most atty failures.

I then started draining at night and nothing else. No more dead attys. Ever. I do designate a flavor to an atty so I don't mix any up. And I rotate them because I almost never have the same flavor the next day, and I only drip. (sometimes I do carry 2 or 3 PV's with me to have a choice, but I try not to mix flavors)

I have a few times cleaned one out with an air compressor. The first time was I believe 60psi to the bottom of the atty and haha I shot the guts across the room. The second time we did I think 30psi and it definately did the trick. Blew a nice fine mist out of it and definately got rid of the any flavor and residue. (try this at your own risk)

I also only drip 2 or 3 drops and never fill carts. Carts suck. Cart mods suck. I have tried them all and I still always have to keep topping to stay satisfied anyway so why bother.... that's just me...

I had the same problem too, but after trying several methods single or multi step (and even tried not cleaning them also) anyway at least with the liquid I use, they do need to be cleaned out every week or so. I have found that letting them soak in diet coke for a few hours (or overnight - for badly burnt one's.) then blow the coke out, and soak them in grain alcohol for a few minutes 10-20 (helps the wick stuff dry better) take them out of the alcohol - blow out excess alcohol, let air dry, prime the atty with a drop or two of liquid then vape away. I have not had a problem since trying this method. even my WORST burnt taste atty's came back to life with this method. I now add a couple of drops of grain to my e-liquid (about 1 drop per ml.) and not only does all my liquids vape much better (even vg's) but it almost self cleans my atty's. I hope this helps you cause I was at wit's end messing with my equip. until I read about doing this method.

Well I've been vaping for three weeks so I'm no expert..Trotted down to the liquor store and got me a pint of Everclear to rinse those attys with..I pour a little in a shot glass and soak 'em overnight. I pull one out to blow it out and that Everclear branded my lip..Now in addition to "Hey whatcha' smokin'" I also get to hear "What happened to your lip?" The scab should be gone in a week or two...Dammitt...I held them under hot water for 30 seconds and let dry indefinitely..Switched from 510 to 901 HV attys when I got my GGTS. Just pulled a 510 out and it's clean and working good..Gonna use 510s on my Precise in a day or two...Also found a pair of hemostats to be perfect for removing wick material. Also clamp the atty with the hemostats to rinse under hot water and run Everclear through them.

I clean with H2O2(9% Hydrogen Peroxide), it's the only way I've found of removing the carbon deposits that build up over time on the coil. Do so at your own risk, there's a video on youtube explaining the procedure but it only takes a couple of minutes as opposed to the 12 hour soak/rinse procedure that do nothing but remove old juice deposits.

There's also a product called heat 'n' kleen which is used to clean popcorn machines that has proven to be just as good as H2O2, it's hard to find in the UK but in the US it shouldn't be a problem.
