Hello to all e-cig users. This product could be a "miracle" for smokers!!! I have never joined a forum or been in a chat room but I heard about e-cigs on a local news show in Southwest Florida and was so excited about this new concept and here I am. I ordered my first e-cig on E-Bay from a private party in Singapore, a little scary but the price was right. The box identified it only as E-Cig, no manufacturer. It was pretty good but not a consistent good smoke. I then found your forum and have been avidly reading everything. My newest purchase was from njoy but again I would get only a few good puffs then some little puffs and then nothing - put it down for a while, pick it up later with the same results. Mark at NJoy sent me a new atomizer (great customer relations) but now I might get one good smoke, 12 puffs, and then the same problem of inconsistency again! Am I expecting too much from the the e-cig or should I be able to have continuous consistent good smokes throughout the day with a decent amount of "smoke"? I did charge the batteries for five hours as was suggested on this forum with little improvement. Are there known "duds" being manufactured? I would appreciate any and all comments - I am desperate to get off cigarettes after many years and know that e-cig will finally be the answer. Also, while I am here, can the batteries be overcharged and do they deplete when just sitting around. Thank you all for your very thorough and intelligent information regarding the e-cig - this could truly help millions of smokers.

Hi Pookie and welcome to our world...lay your fears and frustrations aside..your device is performing correctly(even your first one,,the on and off puffer)There are a few things you must know first...

The Break in period.(first 2 weeks...a lot of patience demanded here)
Initial use the device will give you lots of smoke..you'll realised the taste is a bit 'rusty' or metallic even(preloaded liquid within the atomiser for shipping and stock/shelf life purpose)..Your first Atomiser head must have been shallow/low head type and "out of reach" from your cartridge wool end ..that's why you have on and off smoke productions...squeeze some liquid (from the wool )out and drop right onto the steel wool head of your Atomiser will give you back a lot of smoke but shortlive joy there(last roughly about 10 pulls if 2 drops)..you also will need a full charge Battery for that and the Battery does get weaker within the first 1 hour of sporadic use...First week or two requires you to be gentle suction and slightly longer 'pull' (about 3 to 4 seconds)..if smoke fails even with a full charged battery then your atomiser is likely 'clogged'....So your first maintenance step will be to disengage the battery and thoroughly rinsed the Atomiser with warm water , shake it like you clean a bottle ..do it for several times and then blow thru the battery end of the atomiser for at least 10 seconds(flush out the remaining water by blowing hard..you'll need strong lungs for that ;) )...Now put back on the battery(when everything dries up) and put in 4 drops of liquid(best buy some E-liquid) into the Atomiser..you'll have a better production of 'Smoke'.
Shallowheads or Low heads atomiser will not work well with a normal cartridge(there's a risk of Atomiser Burnout more in shallowheads)...modify your cartridge(see my Needle experiment at Tips and Tricks section of this wonderful forum) or use only Drip-smoking(aka Dry smoking) method....

Once you get the hang of it you'll be confident enuff to let go fully your Traditional cigarettes...
Please browse more within this Forum..you'll get lots more info...Good Luck ;)

Pookie: You watch WINK-TV. I'm a Fort Myers native now residing in Port Charlotte. Unfortunately for those selected for the TV experiment, their e-cig will have ZERO nicotine. Be on the lookout for crazed addicts in the Fort Myers area as this experiment goes awry!

Excellent advice from the doctor, as usual, I must note.

Go over to the Tips and Tricks section and you'll find some lengthy discussions of using the nJoy. Your frustrations are quite normal.

Thank you for your advice, I am definitely less frustrated hearing from you both. I did speak to Mark at NJoy and he is sending me another e-cig but I will keep all your advice in mind and will update as I progress. I am on Pine Island and did investigate and speak to the German man who is selling his version of the e-cig that was on WINK news. I agree that using without nicotine initially will not bode well for this device, he emphatically disagreed! Thanks again.

His wife died of cancer that he blames on cigarettes. But nicotine didn't kill her. The method she used to satisfy her addiction is what killed her. The poor man hurts and is trying to help. But if frustrated users fail with a nicotine-free e-cigarette, you tell me what purpose is served. Those users will just spread the word that, like NRT, this "doesn't work."

It's a very bad "test" that WINK is proposing.

I agree. When i go 3-4 hourrs without a cig, then i start to feel dumb and really can't think about much else but having a cig. Well.. i've been using the njoy today and only had 2 cigs. No withdrawal symptoms at all so far. In fact, had more energy today... not much, but noticeable. Hope this keeps up. I'm having the same issue with my njoy... may decide to send it back for replacement. I'll think about it.... sounds like the shallow head atomizer issue. The cartridges don't get close enough to the atomizer. Don't want to mod because the first few puffs are excellent. Just want to be able get them more frequently. If that was possible... man...that'd be awesome. But, for now... i'm not unhappy.

Thank you erikd for your advice - I did receive another (3rd) atomizer from NJoy and now have a consistently functioning e-cig; however, my first purchase was a super mini e-cig from heavengifts on E-Bay (Singapore I think) and I am beginning to like that one better, more "robust". Any feedback out there about the super mini and who might manufacture it???
