I'm having a very rough night. Nothing wants to work. Long rant here.

Started with me refilling a carto tank with some MBV grape. Before I got the cold, I loved this juice. Tasted just like a grape lollipop. Then, I spent five days with the cold from hell. As a part of the cold, any vapor tasted pretty terrible. Starting yesterday, happily, I could begin to taste my vapor again!

Finally got over the cold, and spent most of the day sucking down a tank full of root beer. That ran low, and I kinda started to taste it a lot less, so I decided to fill the other tank back up with the grape. The tank was still about a third full (I never let them go below the punch holes if I can help it) and tasted great when I put it away, so everything should be great right? Right? Well, just to be sure I gave it a good solid primer puff after filling. Got juice in my mouth. Took the tank off and blew out the excess. Put it back on (kicked mech set to 9.0 watts, ikv plat. Punch lr) and take a toot. Tastes like black pepper. My wife and friend in the room can clearly smell the grape. If I smell the juice, or even the vapor, I can smell the grape too. However, I can only taste black pepper.

ok, maybe the cart has had it. After 30 or so ml I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe a new one will taste right?

When I prime a carto I don't mess around. I start with the shakedown method until the lazier drilled side holes are drooling juice, and the top looks slushy, boardering on starting to puddle. Then I put it into the tank (hot swapped, cause the tank is pretty full now, only about 2mm air space at the top) and put the tank in the thingy, and I fiddle with my thingy twelve times. Then I blow out the excess onto a paper towel, screw it on to the mod, add a drip tip, and take a quick toot, maybe a half second.

this new carto tastes stronger, but even more like black pepper. Not like a burnt carto, just peppery. Bear in mind, this is confirmed 12 nic grape from the same bottle that was delicious a week ago. Maybe I'm scorching juice? I put it on my vamo, and turn it down to 7.5 watts. Same, but less of everything, as it's a notably lower power. Try it straight on my mech without the kick. Burnt. Tasted acrid and the inhale was obviously smoke as much as vapor in how harsh it hit.

ok, enough of this nonsense. Imma get the whistler out. That's what I call my fast tech KFL clone. A great vape, this. 1.4 ohm micro with a cotton wick. Tank darned near empty. No prob, go to top fill the same way I have done before. I usually get one to three slightly gurgly vapes after top filling, but no big deal. This time, it must have had a void in the vacuum, because I lost almost the whole tank worth of juice into the rag I kept cleaning up with.

Clean up, disassemble, check on coil position, make sure all my o rings are intact, etc. re wick (just in case) wetting the wick and coil pretty good. Reassemble, and bottom fill. Turn it right side up and wait. Cool, no leaking. Put it on the mod and try a non powered draw. Light gurgle - good sign. Take a little vape - yeahhhhhhhh. That's what I wanted! Take a bigger vape, ohhhhhhh - I needed that! Take a normal vape - dammit where'd the smoke get into my vapor? Scorched all to crap and tastes like burnt cotton!

ok, fine, grab the rocket. Crap. Empty tank and no more of that juice left. I soooo don't feel like breaking it down tonight.

finally said screw it, a mediocre vape is all I can get tonight. Refilled the root beer carto tank, put the kick back in, put the whole thing together, and am at least now not having a nic fit. This carto has had some 35-40 ish ml through it, so that may be part of why flavor seems so much less than it did this morning. Also, I vaped this flavor all day yesterday and now all of today, so I taste it a lot less than I would if I had had a bit of a break, but IT WORKS, and right now, that's all I care about!

It almost sounds like the nic separated from the liquid. Nic gives the pepper flavor you're tasting. I do see that you've been vaping a long time but sometimes we forget the smallest details. So I'm going to ask this very stupid question anyway. Did you shake your liquids before putting them in your device?

I hope your day gets much better. :)

With a lot of flavors I use, I'd be lucky to get 2 tanks out of a cartomizer, let alone ~6full ones.

Hydrate, buy a lot of cartomizers if that's what you've found to work best, hydrate some more, alternate liquids through out the day as much as you can, hydrate some more, you may need to turn voltage up as cartomizer gets near its death, and hydrate some more.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I always shake my bottles before filling as to blend everything.:D

Can you take a picture of your kayfun clone deck, so I can see wick wells? My tobeco had to be filed, but I would make sure your wick isn't too loose or tight in coil, or that you didn't pack too much wick or stuffed it in juice wells. Those issues will cause dry hits in kayfun systems.. and always fill from the fill screw. There's a reason it's there.. only takes a few more seconds, and add up the time you spend with possible gurgling and so forth..no brainer.

Thanks all for the support and suggestions. It's good to have a place like this to blow off steam when frustrated. I am taking down the rebuildables today and starting them both from scratch. I'll give the grape a good shaking too, while I'm at it.

Take a picture of your kayfun deck.. just incase your wick isn't the issue.

Can't fully tell from first picture.. this is a side by side of what they should not be. Non existent and too large.

The well should be cut into the bevel(right beside threads for evaporation chamber) of base, so it starts in the flat portion of the top of deck's base.
